Good race although rather annoying to see a 21 year old take the swiss for a spin. Hoping for Flückiger to get him

Critical mistake from Flückiger, who managed the gap before that.

Really sad for Mathieu, this was his big dream. But go Tommy P!
Also nice to see what probably is the most active cycling topic of the year on daily.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Pidcock wins, Flueckiger 2nd and (according to dutch commentators, I dont follow MTB closely enough to know how valid this is) a big surprise in Valero 3rd

Enjoyed that a lot, sad Anton faded at the end but still proud of him. Mega effort from Pidcock, great winner. How amazing was the comeback from the Spanish guy though? Awesome stuff!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Milan Vader is implying that Van der Poel was expecting a board to be able to ride down instead of jumping off the rock, like how it was in the trainings/recons.
edit:
Zonneveld: "Mathieu said something about that he thought the board was still there"
Mathieu van der Poel: "I wasn't aware, that board was there during the recons. only heard that it was removed during the testevent"

Seems like miscommunication is the problem for the Dutch nowadays. Hope you can forget about the penalty shootouts now

It might be before your time, but it started with van Basten in 1992, then Seedorf in 1996, finaly in 2000 you had the game Italy-Netherlands where both F de Boer and Kluivert missed during regular time, and in the penalty session de Boer missed again together with Stam. I guess after that it faded a bit.

we've devolved into not making tournaments at all since the early 2000's

I missed the first half hour due to dutch yapping nonsense
Neff already a minute clear ahead of Ferrand Prevot, Frei and Indergand who have a decent gap to the rest behind. wouldn't surprise me if these 4 will decide the top 3

The swiss really outshined everyone here. Wonder if they prepares better for this wet course or where the difference came from. Seems to have been a very demanding race, Stigger looked empty when she climbed off. Sad for Lecomte, but she will get other chances. same goes for vas, what a talent!
