Good to see the nation's biggest race hand out wildcards to relevant national teams, the RCS could learn something.
I could probably find a few teams I'd rather see than Wanty, like Caja and Androni (which obviously shouldn't be invited to TdF, but still), but thats only my personal bias towards those teams. |

I think Wanty deserve it, they won the amstel last year, as a pct team, and despite gasparotto leaving, the have quite a decent team again this year. Also they have tried to get a wildcard for a grand tour many times in the last years and never got it so well deserved in my opinion.. |

I'm fine with Wanty getting the nod rather than Delko (I was expecting ASO to invite all 4 French PCT teams). Though I'd agree with Riis123 - Caja Rural were far better option, but then again they'll be invited to the Vuelta anyway

Philadelphia International Classic cancelled. Can't find the sponsorship needed to cover the finances. This means the WWT loses one of it's better events, and we lose a solid 1.1 race as well. Just part of the continuing financial struggles of races, which is very close to becoming a real crisis.

Too bad indeed. That was afaik the only relevant one day race in the USA, never good to lose that. Maybe Richmond can do something with the interesting WC course they had?
On the other hand the GP Rik Van Steenbergen is back on this year after a five year absence, this shows a cancel doesn't mean the end of the race.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Fantastic. The closest race to where I live is now even farther away and across international borders.

Would Caja Rural want to be invited to the TDF? They don't really have the depth fro 2 GT's and I assume the Vuelta is more important. Wanty are a good choice and should get involved in the breaks, the 3 French teams were always going to get an invite so no surprises with these wildcards.

Sky TT bikes only, they were apparently 800 grams heavier than the other TT bikes for the team TT. The whole thing was light on detail like how much did they weigh and how much did the other bikes weigh, I have a fair idea on what some of these bikes weigh so without details its hard to take this whole report to seriously. Also interesting to remember that Sky lost that Team TT to BMC.

Everybody knows that i support fight against doping, but excuse me, this whole CBS/crazy hungarian man/LeMond story is big pice of crap. No facts at all, even circumstancial evidence is weak at best, i am worried that this whole "we are sure about moto-doping" thing is actually not helping the whole cause much...the guy who invented those motors is just trying to bring attention to himself.

Totally agree! Vargas is a fraud who is attention seeking and the only reason CBS got involved was that the name Armstrong was mentioned. I don't doubt that someone has used some form of moto doping in some pro races but I don't think this Vargas guy was involved and I don't think Armstrong used one. It's funny reading on other forums people link almost any performance in the last 8/10 years using very tenuous links to prove that the rider was using a motor. It's almost like they have forgotten all about good old regular doping which would explain these performances.

I was going to say the report was absolute rubbish but didn't want to be accused of being a Sky fanboy as usual
It's well established fact that on a flat course the weight of a bike makes very minimal difference to performance and added weight can sometimes aid a rider. Disk wheels are much heavier than regular wheels but are used because the aerodynamics far outweighs the additional weight. My old TT bike used to weigh a ton when compared to my road racing bike. They are designed to go very fast in a straight line on a flat road. Weight isn't an issue.
Also, isn't the whole point of these motors that they are so light that they can't be detected by weighing the bike? So to say that the Sky bikes were a bit heavier is proof of motors is ridiculous, especially if that is the only "evidence".
