Seeing all of the criticism here, I'd like to point out that PCM Focus is at the point where our own Database Team was a few years back. They have lost a lot of experience and the remaining guys need to develop their skills as database creators. So I'd like to ask you guys to cut them some slack and not only state the criticism, but also try and encourage them to continue their work.
Inactive due to personal reasons.

Is the next step, that they throw out members, because of their opinions?

I add my compliments to some great new graphics that surely lift the game. All those new team-cars and soigneurs handing out bottles and feed-bags are very nice.
I know you guys places them in several of the stages you had access to zcts-files, and so will I (actually done it before with what has been available)
Adding these cars, water- and bag-guys on Paris-Roubaix in strategic places (as in real-life) lifts that race even higher.
I seen some new bikes and helmets too, and they are very nice. Factor to OnePro niiice.
However I missed the logo of AG2R in blue/white on the top of their helmets, but we can't have everything.
So TOP MARKS for graphics, that was almost expected I guess.
Can't comment or judge the rest, since I haven't had time to test out yet.
BUT, I am never keen on these auto-install setups. Forcing me to unrap the package separately and then have a look on what it includes.
That's my personal problem, that of course is a bit control issue
NAME-ERROR
A small mistake I spotted was the naming of Funvics Soul bike. The nif-file is named without a L (Frm_Sou_fsc.nif). The standard bike was named Frm_Soul.nif.

Eh, may I have a screen of how the 'Team Cars' look in-game, like when they are behind the peloton.
Unfortunately the cars can't ride behind the peloton. We will do it if it's possible.
On this I hope not. It will create the biggest mess with the races having small circuits at the business end. Schaal Sel would be horrible for one ....
Even as it is I get mad when cars and bikes in the game acts even worse than they do in RL. Messy looking at cars speeding right over the peloton IMHO.
We even can see the leading riders catch up the back of the peloton and the final will be almost impossible to figure out. Image having 10-15 cars in that mess to. NO THANKS
They are more than good placed on feeding zones and little here and there.

Yes you're right. 10 or 15 will be perfect More then that is too much. |

I think you misunderstood mate. Far from perfect ....
10-15 would create a chaos. Wrote too fast I guess.
It was a statement:
Imagine having 10-15 cars tracking the peloton. That would be tooooo much and make a truly mess of any circuit finish, IMHO.
Hm I would even go so far as taking out ALL moving cars and MCs, since the program can't handle them correctly.
Your parked Team-cars however is very very nice to see along the road.

What!? It's just normal criticism. If the stats are bad, we tell it to them, so that they can improve. If you can't stand criticism as a db Team, maybe then you should stop doing what you're doing. And yes, the graphical part is nice, but thats like with EA games....the graphics are nice and the game itself is crap. Should we then applaud EA for making this game? No! We should criticise them, so that they will do better next time.

Whilst i agree with your comment, what i mean is, if there is negativity about there work then that is demoralising and it may get them to say ''F**k this we are not doing it anymore'' |

The statsfix will come in a few days, so a pm to you isn't necessary.
Everything will be good, so as you expect that from the FDB Team. |

Yes, that's true. We fix the stats and then release it.
We expect that PCM Daily the FDB16 in their DC put. |

The obvious difference here is that EA have paid developers responsible for creating a game EA can make money from. The nice people on here put in time and effort making a database that, at least in my opinion, improves the game and they make no profit from it (as far as I know at least). So let's give these guys the credit they deserve and let our criticism be helpful and kind. I could never make a database myself, I have no idea how to, so I truly appreciate the work done on this site with databases. Keep up the great work guys!

There's inexperience, and then there's including what was an April Fools joke. I don't mind about stats because ultimately everyone uses their own matirx and everyone has their own opinions. But some of the other .cdb errors are just basic stuff that shouldn't be in a v1.0+.
Graphically this DB is stunning, and the Procyclist add-on is fantastic (and i've totally stolen it to use with other DB's ). There's plenty of positives to take from that, and the DB does function. But at the same time there's errors that arn't a lack of experience, but are a lack of knowledge/understanding and that shouldn't be in a v1.0+ DB.
If this was a real first attempt at a DB, then wow it's actually shockingly good. But i don't think that's the case and i think the quality of a "brand name" community DB should be higher. I did also have a go at the Daily DB team when they were "re-structuring" as well.

Your stats have improved a lot, no denying that. However there's still a lot of errors:
Sergio Henao 81MO (really?)
Kelderman 79MO
Wellens 76MO
Kuznetsov has still not been updated (and yes he really needs to be with 68FL 69COB)
Domagalski 75SPR
Asselman still heavily underrated
Weening underrated
Lammertink underrated
Plus there's quite a lot of very unknown riders who for some reason have high stats, like Kim-Simon Nottebohm (who?) having 70HI, 70COB, 72SPR and 73ACC. It would definitely pay off to take a look into these riders yourself and find more of them (as I remember there being more, though I forgot who exactly).
And I have some questions concering the races:
1. Why did you add some criteriums to the calendar (like Acht van Chaam). It's very well known that the riders are just awarded victory here and don't really contain a really competitive element, plus they rig the calendar a bit IMO (due to attracting some riders you'd normally never see there). Same goes for Amstel Curacao Race, which isn't even raced anymore.
2. There's lots of real 2015 and 2016 races available across the forums, including Benelux races. Why did you not add these?
Overall, this DB is thus far from perfect, but with some work put in this could well compete with the two other big DBs out there atm.

The results ingame are very realistic. You have to watch ingame and not only in the editor.
We updated some stats, races and cyclists after the release. So download now! |
