It's a day of celebrations for the entire SanCor Cycling Team squad and staff. After months of hard work, setting up a new team in Argentina, attracting riders and building a squad, we already start reaping the results.
Max Richeze raced his very first race for the SanCor team, as well as the first as B World Champion of the world. And it was a hole in one!
Richeze was brought to the final kilometer perfectly by a hard-working team, along with some other teams helping out. In the final straight, Andriato proved the perfect lead-out man for the B World Champ.
Yes, it is a day for celebration. The first victory of our team, in our third race. And we are only getting started. It's a day we'll never forget.

And our riders keep amazing us here at the SanCor headquarters. In the Vuelta al Tachira, a C1 race no less, Carlos Barredo displayed his immense strength to win the fourth stage and take the leader's jersey out of Avelino's hands.
Barredo broke away with Del Nero of Grupo Nutresa. For SanCor, this was our third break in three days, really showing the commitment of our new team to road racing.
We admit, Barredo's original aim was to pick up the mountain points along the way. He left Del Nero behind sprinting for the first one and decided not to wait. He went solo with 40 kilometers to go.
After picking up all mountain points available, he still held a considerable gap to the peloton. In the team car, the DS was going out of his mind.
Under the flamme rouge, it was obvious: Barredo would win the stage and take the leader's jersey!
Tired out completely, Barredo crossed the finish line. The new leader in the this race. The mountain points might come in handy later in this stage, too.
Congratulations to Carlos, we're happy for him and we'll do everything we can do defend his jersey. Keeping the jersey until the very end will be an impossible task, but Barredo has surprised us before. Still, we try to be realistic and maybe we can hope he can hang on to the top 10 or at least go for the KoM jersey!
Rodas might starting to be jealous of Barredo stealing his attention here in the team, so we challenge Rodas to go out there and give it a whiff himself
This gives SanCor our second victory in this season. 2 wins out of 6 stages, not bad for a new team! A C2HC win and a C1 stage win. We couldn't ask for a better start. |

In the Vuelta al Tachira, Barredo and the SanCor squad started the fifth stage with a sense of pride.
The guys took up responsiblity and defended Barredo's leaders' jersey easily.
The flat stage never held major risk for us to lose the jersey. Barredo and the team will have greater difficulty in tomorrow's stage. We'll keep you posted! |

February Preview
With January going extremely well, we already look forward to our February schedule.
First let's see at how we're doing. Richeze took our very first team victory in a mighty sprint in Australia. The very same day, Barredo made the impossible happen, winning with an amazing solo in the Vuelta al Tachira, where we were considered the weakest team in the field. Barredo is now still fighting for the KoM jersey. Let's hope he can bring it home!
January was a perfect start. We have some races in February that aren't exactly our cup of tea, but all the more reason to try and make something of it!
[C2HC] Benelux Challenge
Benelux. Not the roads our riders excell in. Let's go for coverage time in Belgium - an important cycling region and with many viewers we hope to promote our products and lifestyle there.
A stage top 10 would be great, maybe in the prologue.
Leader: Julián Rodas
Lieutenant: Maky Roman
Free Role: Carlos Barredo, Salvador Moreno Hernandez
Sprinter: Cristian Omar Clavero
Domestiques: Laureano Rosas, Juan Pablo Dotti, Anibal Borrajo
[C1] Barcelona Classic
Another C1 race. In Tachira we are doing good. This is a sprinter's race. Richeze is here to fight with the PCT top sprinters. In Australia he proved his speed, but this is another playing field. The podium is the goal!
We'll have the exact same line-up as in the Great Ocean Road Classic. Why mess with a winning combination? Our sprint train is fine-tuned to win!
Leader: Max Richeze
Lead-Out Sprinter: Rafael Andriato
Lead-Out: Lucas Sebastian Heado, Sebastian Tolosa, Pedro Herrera, Michiel Van Aelbroeck
Domestique: Dario Diaz, Alejandro Duran
[C2HC] Geraardsbergen-Bosberg
Not the profile we like. No goals here, just getting experience in Europe. Let's just enjoy the race and hope we can be in the breakaway.
Free Role: Pedro Herrera, Michiel Van Aelbroeck, Walter Trillini, Cristian Omar Clavero, Dario Diaz, Alejandro Duran, Juan Pablo Dotti, Anibal Borrajo
[C2HC] GP Sallanches
This is where Merckx win his amateur world title. We come here to compete for the highest place possible. But we haven't had a time to study the start list yet, so we couldn't set a real goal so far.
Leader: Gabriel Juarez
Lieutenant: Carlos Barredo
Domestiques: Ariel Sivori, Sebastian Tolosa, Pedro Herrera, Michiel Van Aelbroeck, Dario Diaz, Alejandro Duran
We certainly don't expect February to be as successful as January, but the Barcelona Classic should bring us some necessary points with Richeze and the other races allow the team a gradual build-up towards our goals coming later in the season.
A good start was important, now let's get into the daily business gradually. |

Julian Rodas, a legend in the Continental circuit, has done it again. The brave Colombian fighter took stage 5 in the Tour de San Luis, the home race of his team, SanCor Cycling Team, after a formidable breakaway.
The legend lives on! |

Internal note leaked: SanCor Cycling Team struggling
Yesterday, a note was leaked on the internet, containing damaging information on the SanCor Cycling Team. The note was written by a staff member of the team and was aimed directly at the DS of the team. From the note, it seems that things aren't that peachy as they seem, for SanCor Cycling Team.
While the riders and the staff get along very well, and the team's very soul being the team of family, things are going terribly wrong for the team. Apparently, the team is in incompetent hands on the financial aspect.
Before the season started, the team had already almost lost out on a license when the bookmakers discovered a €20.000 gap in the books. The issue was resolved but never really cleared out.
Now, the team is well into the season and getting results, but the threat of financial disaster is just around the corner. Transparency is a big issue, we conclude after interviewing several riders and staff members. None of those interviewed are aware of the problems and all declare that the team is doing great and that the atmosphere is fantastic.
However, this note proves otherwise. It'll be interesting to see if and how the management can turn their luck around and keep this Argentine team from going under. Maybe Walter Trillini was closer to the truth than he might've thunk when he answered: "[...] so great here, it's almost too good to be true!" |

SanCor Cycling Team pulling through
After a rough patch in the young team's history, it seems the management is finally pulling through again. Weeks ago, there were talks of financial disaster looming. Now the management has been able to turn it all around. Nobody panicked and new sponsor deals were soon in the making.
The riders in especially are very relieved. With the season well over halfway, the team's results have had an impact, for certain. Now that the threat of the team disbanding has gone, maybe we can see SanCor finish their season on a sportive high! |

But so far, we've had an amazing season If we can keep the top 10 team rankings, it'd be perfect! |

We're nearing the end of the season but Richeze has given us another reason to celebrate. In the Herald Sun Tour, Richeze won stage 4 with seeming ease. This might as well be our final victory of the season, so we must treasure it.
SanCor has known a successful season start. And after a rough couple of months, it seems we're going to finish the season on a high, too. Great job from all of our lads. We're hoping to keep most of the boys around for the next season.
SanCor already told us they're very interested in prolonging the partnership. Sales have tripled since the SanCor Cycling Team hit the road. Numbers may or may not have been largely exaggerated. |
