What a key win for Tenorio, narrows the gap which should mean taking red in the TT crucially before stage 11. This could lead from this point to a 1000 pointer for Santander at time they need it most.
Indeed. Winning the stage was pretty good for Santander, but the absence of gaps is far more interesting from Tenorio's perspective!
Ironically, Santander may get their decisive blow in the TT of the most mountainous Vuelta ever
This reminds me, Machado should probably be doing something to prove is absurd salary...

Pokerstars are just having such an ace season - they even have got the sorcery of sprint trains sorted. Four wins just wow!!!
I felt this would be Swift domination but Pokerstars have time and again torn the Vesuvio train to shreds - some heated words back on the team bus perhaps SN?
Howard - erm what?

Wow. That sprint from Van Heerden is probably the worst I've ever seen from one of my riders. Thought he had a real opportunity there for a top 5 being close to perfectly placed.
And another wow for especially Degenkolb, but also Mohs. It's amazing to watch Degenkolb provide brilliant leadouts over and over again and Mohs converting them.

Woah, Pokerstars and Mohs! I really thought we'd see Swift taking the honours on most of the stages. Meanwhile Van Heerden isn't looking too sharp *nudge-nudge* *wink-wink* Ember

Another below-par performance from Guerao. I'm getting increasingly sure that he is to leave the team after this season.

He gets another Grand Tour chance in France, hopefully it works better there, even though it looks rather unlikely right now |

It seems like I can use a really good leadout for Ciolek...

Is it real or am I dreaming? Winning 4 sprints in a row with such competition is absolutely amazing!

I do think Swift here will be looking to dominate the sprints - Vesuvio are getting their sprint engine ready. I have a funny feeling Pokerstars sprint trains may splutter (though with the season they are having who knows). I expect prossibly four sprints before that hellish short mountain stage on 11 which could well wipe out some of the lardy guys (at least some of the helpers)
Maybe you´re right or maybe not. The fact is, my team is a bit underperforming right in sprints so far this season. Except of Tommeke of course
Well, I must happily point out, it´s not true anymore!

My train should be decent enough. I guess their flat stat might be too low though... I have to experiment a bit with that.

Yeah,i think that we can see that strong train matters the most this year, at least in PT.
edit: I see the Greek have 72 and Guerao 73 flat, that is not world beating stat...i think PT leadout for great sprinter should have at least 75-76 ( like Hoffman, who is for a change too low in his sprint stat).

Guerao has 74, so that should be almost as good as Mohs. But the leadout riders are weak.

Finally Howard picked up the best lead-out wheel, oh that was close in the end! If a rider like him as a great day, it can do wonders in a result. Still big thanks and congrats too to Pokerstars, they are amazing. Still it would be amazing, if stage 11 would be so hard, that a few sprinters would quite the race, Howard could have an advantage over his rivals there.

Pretty weird TT, as the pure TTers were nowhere to be seen.
Ratiy did well. A top 10 on the TT wasn't really in the cards before the race, I think. Losing to Roche isn't expected, but doesn't really matter either as Roche is a much better overall rider, whom Ratiy shouldn't be able to beat.

I think it was a TT coming as it did after some hard mountain stages that took it's toll on pure testers (and I am not sure it is a real pan flat one).
Of course Alarcon dropped to 6th place as predicted the beauty of the TT is it means mountain goats have to attack in the mountains and there is a brilliant one coming up very soon. So Santander better close the rafters right now Alarcon is about to become Anarchon Well thats the plan anyhow!

Almost as fast as Flens.
Acceptable result.
Still think that neither Valls, Faiers and Anton are impossible to get. So hopefully climbing a bit in the GC even though behind GM there is also some danger. But while top10 goal will most likely fail, personal goal of top15 has to be reached in this field. |
