I cant understand how ppl literally can make those lists only with riders from their own country.. on the other hand, I'm from Denmark which could explain a alot  |

Pretty simple. The question is which riders I like the most. My answer consists of the riders I like (to see winning or performing well) the most.
I admit being a German wanting to see a lot of cycling on TV and in media, you can't get around cheering for Germans more. Cycling here is dead if native riders don't perform.
But I did go through the Top 700 on PCS to make sure I didn't miss an obvious foreign pick, and I did not. The lower ranks had a few options, but one point for Kwiatkowski or Quintana wouldn't help a lot anyway.

I couldn't back up putting Stybar or Van Staeyen or Betancur in there more than I can with them.

Of course, but it definetely also is a question of the talent your country possesses. Take admir as an example (somewhat extreme, yes) - it's hard to even make a top-10 of serbian riders. I think it's easier to root for guys who are doing well as casual fans, why you would see columbians, americans, italiens, belgians etc. make lists which consist of more rider from their country compared serbians, danes etc.
Definetely not just a question about that, the chauvinism also plays quite a big role. |
