I surely expect few more wins in Qatar with that squad. Great TTT by team, aswell!

Tour of Qatar Stage 3
Third stage in the desert for our team and we´re still hungry for more stage wins. There are still 4 more chances to get them.
A very late break was leading the race with only 50 kilometres to go. Some pretty famous names were in it with Velits and Leukemans. O´Shea was the third man. After a great battle, they were finally caught within the last 15 kilometres.
Just 5 kilometres to go and exactly these are the scenes we want to see. Same procedure as in stage one. Vermote, Trentin and Boonen were able to build a perfect sprint train for Mark Cavendish. Degenkolb was the only top sprinter following us.
Vermote´s job was done and Trentin started the sprint. This whole thing looked great so far and Cavendish was still in Boonen´s slipstream.
Last kilometre and Boonen was already in the lead with Cavendish on his wheel. Surprisingly it was Marcel Kittel in Cavendish´s slipstream. We really didn´t know, where he came from so fast!
Kittel made a brilliant move with so much acceleration. Cavendish had to react quickly but was it too late?
There was no chance to pass Kittel as the stage ended too early for us. Cav was probably the fastest man in the end but his move came way too late. Degenkolb finished in third and brought Giant a double podium. Tom Boonen got a nice 10th position in the end.

It was close for Cav, but you can't always win. He surely has GC win in his hands, try to make him safe of any kind of crash or injury now.

Indeed such a close finish, pretty unlucky. We´ll try to stay in this great overall position. |

Tour of Qatar Stage 4
Well, yesterday wasn´t the best day for Cav and his team, but anyway there are still 3 stages left and our overall situation is amazing. Let´s do this!
Another hot day in the desert and it looks like the same as yesterday. A wonderful sprint train by Omega. This time even Terpstra was able to make a good pace, so our train went into the last 6 kilometres with 4 riders!
Two kilometres left to the finish line. Trentin made a great job in the leading position with Boonen on his wheel. Cavendish had a lot of energy left for the final move. Degenkolb and Kittel couldn´t take our slipstream today but Henderson was with us.
1000 metres to go for us and Tom Boonen gave us the perfect leadout, great speed! Cavendish waited for another 200 metres to explode out of his team mate´s slipstream. On the left side Degenkolb came from behind pretty fast, but he had to pull a long sprint.
Finally Cavendish made the final move with brilliance. A big surprise on the left side with Dehaes sprinting pretty fast. Tom Boonen had still a great speed, too. Come on this had to be our third win here!
Yes! This is the right answer to yesterday´s second place against Giant! Cavendish takes his second stage win in Qatar, beating his opponents with a great sprint. Dehaes got a strong second place for Lotto and Tom Boonen was able to beat Degenkolb for the third! That brought us a double podium and another successful stage.

Thanks hoyle
Tour Méditerranéen
While our squad in Qatar is pretty successful at the moment, we´ve sent another one to France. We thought that this race would be a great chance for Tony Martin and Rigoberto Uran to prepare for some bigger races in the next weeks. This tour is not that easy because some of those five stages are pretty tricky. Tony Martin is looking forward to a time trial on stage 2 about 24 kilometres. Uran´s shape isn´t pretty well so far, that means that Tony is our leader here in France. Uran just takes a free role just like Stybar, who´s preparing for the spring. We´ve also sent Petacchi as our main sprinter. Not sure how fast he still is, but he was one of the best years ago.
Let´s have a look at the whole team and of course the other startlists!
There are some big names with Froome, Mollema and Cancellara. |
