Dear manager,
I have already done some training rounds with my new teammates when I met them in Madrid for a little PR stunt. I am still riding in my Androni jersey but hey, I already got a banner for the new season! Are you proud of me?
Well, listen - I know how you can make me proud of you. I heard there's some rumours that Cavendish might not re-sign for Omega Pharma Quick Step. Also, I heard that there's some big budget still available because you are - hands down - the best manager ever and did some great negotiations? Now, I got some really great idea: How about you get Cavendish on the team, so I have a proper lead-out man for once?!
Tutto bene,
Carlo Calzone
P.S.: My official rider presentation is coming up and I was wondering if it's possible to set up some cool lasershow and some fog machines?
P.P.S. Marcel Kittel will do too!

Quintana tells you:
I want to lead the team in Le Tour
No question, after your brilliant season you absolutely deserve that!
Your efforts in last year's GT were fantastic and the best advertisement for cycling since ages and this time we'll give you the best chances to go for full glory!
Last year, you had two main reason to struggle: 1) You're bones had not recovered fully from those crashes on the nasty italian roads. 2) The team depth behind you and Valverde was not good enough.
We assure you that we'll work on this. We can assure you that your support team will not become worse eventhough the loss of Max Oget hurts ofc but we will look for ways to improve it.
del Pino tells you:
I want to lead a monument or a GT
Of course! Like last year you'll be our main main in Paris Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen. We fully trust you to perform better this year and it would be a shame if such a talented rider like you would have to wait another year to see his name on the honor wall!
Valverde tells you:
I want leadership in a GT
Since you joined us in 2005 you've turned into a true legend and your name will be connected with our history as long as one of us exists. Propably even longer. Could we refuse to give you leadership in the Vuelta? No! If you would win it another time then you would truly amaze everyone in this country! And I think a better situation will not come for you!
Also: Why would we not give you the leader role? It is only legit that the best spanish rider will lead the best spanish team in the most important spanish race!
Costa tells you::
I want full lead in a GT or monument this year[/i]
That's funny! I was yesterday at the Giro route presentation and the first thought that I had was: Damn! This is THE route for Rui!
I'm glad that we agree that you are ready to lead a GT and I hope that you don't crash too often on those nasty italian roads!
We'll try to give you some Italians to your advice who might be able to give you some advices how to deal with this utter piece of shit called "Italian streets".
I'm sure you'll enjoy the race though but be warned: If your woman is pregnant until then: Think twice if you want her to come to the finish lines
On other news: You'll also be one of our co-leader in MSR, LBL & Lombardia. Cheers.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Hey Carlo,
first of all, i have to praise your effort. It is cool to see that our newest star signing understands the need of PR actions. While the team tries to make as few of them as possible it is unavoidable that you have to represent the sponsors from time to time. Max Oget, a gifted rider from Murica, did not understood this which was one reason why he had to go.
Because of actions like this - I hope there was no safety risk? - they give us the money which we can spend on awesome riders like you or Nairo.
But you're obviously joking when talking about me as "best manager ever". How could you forget about Sky's manager who made a mediocre squad a ranking winning squad!
But i want to prove that I'm nearly equally good manager after all so I'll try to give you a good leadout!
And Cavendish? No. He's a ****. But Kittel. Kittel is a nice guy. I'll make him an offer he cannot refuse!
Tutto bene,
il signore Schröder
PS: I'm proud that you made yourself your banner. The banner symbolizes your birth into our family, we are one until death.
PPS: You want a boring intro with some lasers and a little bit of fog? Could not you say that earlier? We now have to scrap all our plans. Fernando Alonso will not be amused and we have to find a reason to cancel Rammstein. And if you prefer a lasershow over our pyrotechnician then that's fine, too.
But the bunnies are staying, right?

I know. Having Evans is an instant, unfair boost to the points tally that Ollfardh should really take a look at.

Haven't you heard?
Evans wants to lead all three grand tours + every monument + every world tour classic + every world tour stage race + The tour of Hainan.
Anyway, believe it or not, Cadel Evans can achieve all of your goals.

Dear manager,
yes, you are allowed to keep the bunnies but I hope this does not imply we'll cross our swords? I might have to speak to my newly wed wife though, however it already seems like things ain't so great after our honeymoon sigh
I have had some issues with fire before, primarily setting my own house and my neighbour's house on fire last year, so I'd prefer there wasn't any pyrotechnique involved.
Meanwhile, I have to congratulate to your recent signing of J.J. Lobato. A most brilliant signing for the team and especially for me. I'm sure this young Spaniard will perform in a most satisfying manner. I'm glad that you have kept your promise you gave me during the negotiations of bringing some decent lead-out to the team. This makes me feel very confident in our future.

Carlo Calzone is so excited at the prospect of Movistar's new, italian signing Kristian Sbaragli that he told an Italian newspaper, he will cook spaghetti for the entire team.! Gazzetto dello Sport visited him in his villa to get a first tasting of his cooking talents.
"Yes, I invite them all because I'm so happy. I hope everybody shows up. I have great wine, great noodles and a great landscape to enjoy the dinner. I hope even Nairo shows up, but he needs to stay slim, so he will only get a children meal."
In the extravagant villa, there are many exquisite rooms to be found. One of his dearest is Calzone's kitchen, where he begins to praise the team: "It's great to see how the manager managed to get yet another lead-out for my ambitions", says Calzone, whilst throwing in way too much salt into the cooking pot. When the journalist asked him about the salt, he received a slap from Calzone: "Hey, this is my kitchen and my old family receipt. It's the secret to my fast legs! Believe me, when we have done eating and start riding here in Toscana, Movistar train will be faster than real trains!"
"I mean, we have Ventoso, Rojas, Lobato and Sbaragli now. Did I forget someone? Of course, my russian friend for the insane pace. I am a very happy man", confirms Calzone, whilst sharpening his knives and then gets going on making his pesto with home-grown basil.

Hello everybody, it's Ilja again.
I love how things are going on here and the number of transfers certainly shows how Mr. Schröder is doing a great job in improving the team.
To be honest, I don't know many of the new guys - to be more honest, I know none of them, but I just hope, they'll be nice guys in terms of team spirit. And I don't really fear anybody having no team spirit after some rounds of delicious backyard-distilled Russian Vodka. Russian rounds of course, so no shots, but small bottles...
When we're speaking of Vodka already, I have to admit that at first I was a little unhappy when I had to hear that Vladimir is going to leave us. But then I was told he will join Champion System, so I wish my friend all the best luck there and surely this is a good direction to go. He was just so enthusiastic about politics and society, so that was certainly the right move. And as of now I'm officially the best drinker on the team, so that has a good point as well.
Now let's go on to some more serious topics. I have been thinking about my personal goals for next season already and I am not really sure where I will aim at. On the one hand, I would really like to go for long classics bringing Carlo safely to the last meters, then on the other hand, I can't stop dreaming about making it all the way to the Champs-Elysees. I'd also love to work on my time trialing and my ability to survive some climbs as well, so I could maybe do the Tony Martin and win some rather easy stage races.
Then again, I frequently have that one dream: It's always another race, but I'm riding the last kilometer after a brave attack and I can never remember when I went away. I just feel my legs hurting and I'm giving it everything, just knowing that it will be enough. All the people on the sides of the road are screaming at me, some of them don't even know my name, but they all see me rushing by and then I cross the line, having both arms in the air, just managing not to fall off my bike, because I'm so done, but I always feel this is the greatest moment I could possibly imagine.
So, Mr. Schröder, do you have any idea how we can work something proper out for next season?
До встречи!
Илья
PS: Believe me, the Calzone is a pretty awesome cook. Not only his Calzone is super-delicious, but his Pasta is as well. I feel like we have to make some Pirozhki when we'll hang around with our groupis the next time.

Hello you two,
it's a shame but Vladimir had a bigger dream and after all his efforts to our team we could not decline his wish to chase the dream.
I imagined the two of you to race a lot together in the first month but i think you are clever enough to integrate on your own. I'm sure you'll be an important member of our team from the first race.
What race that will be? We'll see. I'm currently very busy with transfer talks but as soon as our full squad is signed, we'll talk more in detail about your calender. I promise you that you'll be confident with it though.
To you, my dear Carlo:
We want you to perform from your first race. As a sprinter you need to have a very good communication with your leadout riders. Since it will be difficult for you in the first months to communicate with your domestiques, all of you should be able to speak the same language.
And since we know that it will take some time until JJ, JJ and Fran speak fluently italian, we decided to bring in some italian blood as well. We hoped you like it.
Ciao,
Michael Schröder

Movistar Team has renewed the contract of their super star rider Jesus del Pino. The 22 year old Elite cobbler has agreed to a 1-year extension of his contract. Manager Michael Schröder was exited: "This is a milestone on our quest to top the rankings. We hope that he will have a better season than last year."
And indeed, last year he crashed in both Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen. The team plans with him as their main man for this races and hopes that he has better luck this year.
They cannot do otherwise anyway since they had to promise him to lead a Monument.
The team management wanted to add that del Pino is not for sale at any prize! Only hours after the confirmation of the renewal the first team tried to steal him.
According to Insider information german team Omega - Pharma Quickstep bidded 40,000 for him since - after they could not get Degenkolb - want a better sprinting leader than Steegmans or Meersman or Boonen or whoever their leftover sprinter is.
In a quick skype call Schröder declined the offer.

Alert! Alert!
It's late at night when the transfer signal alarm goes off in the mansion of Carlo Calzone. Lazy and uninspiried he checks his phone. Journalists inquire about a reacton of the latest signings. Buffled he looks up the latest transfers of Movistar.
Holy shit, he thinks! Juan Antonio Flecha and Marco Mercato. Two of his favourite riders. Though seemingly tired, he still can make a little dance of celebration until all strength leaves his body and he collapses into the bed again, dreaming sweetly of his future adventures in San Remo.

Transfer Season completed
Starting sitation:
Heading into the transfer season we were in a comfortable situation. With one of the best teams in professional cycling we could start calmly and concentrate on making smaller changes to the squad.
All the stars had renewed their contracts and only Max Oget was unwilling to continue his cycling career.
Leaving:
Spoiler Oget
Max is an uncredibly gifted rider. He is strong in the mountains as well as on the cobbles. But he realized that the cobbled mountain passes are nearly extincted in current day so he decided to quit the professional cycling scene and start his job life as a road builder.
Llanet
Albert Llanet is very gifted but the step into the WT came too early. He stepped down to PCT to make another attempt at the top.
Intxausti
We are very sad to see him leaving but we understand his wish to support Basque cycling.
Castroviejo
We are very sad to see him leaving but we understand his wish to support Basque cycling.
Sanz
We happily accepted an offer of Euskaltel for him.
Karpets
We are still stunned by his magnificent performance in Lugano but when Communism Systems came we had no change to decline their offer.
Madrazo
In a parallel universum he is one of the best climbers but we don't see more than a strong domestique so we let him move to Caja Rural.
Capecchi
We totally trusted in his abilities but unfortunatelly, he was needed to get Dayer Quintana.
Szmyd
After very hard and long-drawn negotiations with CCC we could manage to get rid of this rider. We would have liked to accept an earlier deal but we could not come to an easier agreement.
Herrada
It is sad to let Jesus go but we could manage to get Jesus in return so we have that going for us which is nice. Although Herrada will surely not be happy about the loss of Herrada.
Gutierrez
Gutierrez has always been a very valuable riders and we are glad about his efforts in our team's jersey.
Dowsett
In the end Dowsett had to go due to our decision of reducing the amount of foreigners. He is a very gifted time triallist who could be absolute world class one day.
Visconti
Visconti was an important part of our planning but when Vacansoleil started their transfer season we wanted to help them with a star signing.
The Additions:
Spoiler Calzone
Calzone adds a complete new level to our team. We never had such a great sprinter in our team and this signing will make us much stronger for the future.
Kuznetsov
Kuznetsov is one of the most interesting talents who will be an incredible important part of our sprint train while also being a strong TTer. Only few riders can raise the pace in the flat like him.
Formolo
Formolo is an upcoming italian climbers who is tagged as one of the finest talents of the draft. Coming into our team as part of the Castroviejo blockbuster deal he will be looked at to be a valuable domestique for Costa in the Giro.
Lobato
After years of stagnation JJ managed to make a big step forward during the last season. He is thankful for the chances he got at Euskaltel but now he gets the chance to help the rise of a legend while also having the chance to develop further.
Sanchez
Sanchez has experience like no other. He is an Olympic Gold medal winner, has finished in a GTs top ten in seven straight years and a lot, lot more. Knowing that his age will come into play soon he decided to help the Basque team by accepting a swap deal. Here at Movistar, he will add another Tour & Vuelta participation to his already impressive CV.
Machado
Machado is another experienced climber from Portugal. He will race a lot aside of Rui Costa but he will be never more than a domestique.
Fernandez
Ruben Fernandez is one of the rare new talents in Spain. Having won the 2013 Tour d'Avenir he was one important target for us and we think that one can expect a lot more from him!
Quintana
As brother of our team leader Nairo Quintana we had him as #1 target from the draft. To make sure that we would get him we had to trade up to get an earlier draft pick. We are very glad that he joined us in the end.
De la Cruz
De la Cruz felt home-sick at NetApp so he decided to move to our team. We are glad that we could get him since he is a decent climbing domestique.
Sbaragli
Sbaragli is an addition to our leadout for Calzone to allow Lobato to lead himself sometimes. We are sure that he will help Carlo to feel at home in our family.
Hernandez
Jesus is another climbing domestique who will support our climbing leaders. He was brought in for Jesus Herrada. While Jose Herrada was sad to see Jesus Herrada leaving the team, we think that Jesus can replace Jesus equally good.
Losada
Losada was not needed anymore at his old team due to a restructuring and we were the first team to react. We are glad that we could land him.
Flecha
Nothing has to be said about Flecha's quality anymore. He will be co-leader of Del Pino in the cobbled monuments while adding some quality to our leadout for Calzone. His experience is very worthy as well.
Duarte
After the departure of Intxausti we lacked the one top climbing domestique. We think that Duarte is a worthy replacement although we will miss Intxausti a lot.
Marcato
To be honest, we did not had him on our list but when Visconti asked for a new challenge we made the best out of it and took him as a worthful domestique on every terrain.
Valls
In above mentioned deal for Visconti we could get another gifted spanish climber as well. Valls has proved his abilities in former years so we are glad to have him.
Oroz
JJ wasn't needed at Euskaltel anymore so we took the chance and added another JJ to our roster. Juan José will immediately join the trainingsgroup of Juan Antonio, Juan Manuel, Juan José, Juan José, José, José Joaquín and Francisco José. This might be a bit confusing for some reporters who want an interview from "José" but I guess they have to deal with it.
Garate
Our last signing is spanish idol Garate. His name stands for himself and we are glad that he wants to ride his last carear years with us.
Overview of our deals:
Staying | IN | OUT | IN & OUT | | | | | Valverde | Lobato | Intxausti | Barbero | Herrada | Sanchez | Castroviejo | | Rojas | Flecha | Madrazo | | Ventoso | Valls | Herrada | | Plaza | Hernandez | Gutierrez | | Cobo | Fernandez | Sanz | | Moreno | Garate | Visconti | | Lastras | Losada | Capecchi | | del Pino | De la Cruz | Karpets | | Quintana | Oroz | Oget | | Costa | Calzone | Dowsett | | Amador | Formolo | Llanet | | | Marcato | Szmyd | | | Sbaragli | | | | Duarte | | | | Quintana | | | | Machado | | | | Kuznetsov |
That are quite a few personal changes but we think that we could keep the teams identity and we managed to make the national focus a bit more homogen.
Thanks for reading!
