Not sure if it's mentioned but Bart De Clercq will ride the vuelta. He's a strong climber so I can see him in top 15, maybe top 10 if he's still fresh after a Tour de France. |

Is Joaquim Rodriguez gonna be in the Vuelta? Hes had a awesome back end ride and should do well in it! |

Yep. Might be tired from the Tour, though.

Should be tired. I still don't get how it's possible to get 100% better in one of the most tough Tours ever... |

What do you mean by "100% better"?
He was a little overweight in the Pyrenees, if that's what you're referring to.

It's called peaking. Everybody knew that the last week of the Tour would be very important. Only 2 riders peaked right.
And coincidently these two riders were the only riders in the top 8 that didn't lose any energy in the wind stage.

Didn't Belkin appoint Kelderman as leader for the Vuelta?
No. He will only ride the Giro, he said in a interview.
Would be a bad idea, 1 GT is enough for him.
Spoiler It would be so awesome to see him lead Belkin

With 100% better I mean he suddenly got really good after being awful in the first week. |

Froome will be aiming the WC so he might do the Vuelta as a "warm-up".

And htat's what Spilak means.
If everyone except Purito 'peaks' in the first/second week then his performances are going to look poor compared to theirs. However, it means that everyone will be more tired in that final week so his performances look comparatively good as he is on top form and others are more tired.

I get what he means, I just find it hard to believe that he is the only to manage to do that and because the Tour was extremely hard. |

Exactly. Rodriguez learned from his mistakes when he lost the Giro and the Vuelta in the very end, so he adjusted his build-up accordingly and managed to be very strong in the last week. Pretty much like Samuel Sanchez used to do it in his grand tours. Apart from that, Rodriguez was never awful, he just had a below-par performance on Ax-3-Domaines. That doesn't automatically mean that everyone who was better there is by definition a better climber |

Argos' long list for the Vuelta; Arndt, Barguil, Clarke, Fröhlinger, Hupond, Janse Van Rensburg, de Kort, Parisien, Peterson, Preidler, Sinkeldam, Stamsnijder.
Interesting selecetion. Will be interesting to see how Sinkeldam does in the sprints if he's picked. |

Not the most impressive Argos list
But well, Argos list can't be impressive if neither Kittel nor Degenkolb is on it
Looking forward to Sinkeldam.

Degenkolb has to do Plouay-Vattenfall-Canada for WT points
Same for Geschke, Dumoulin, and all their good riders. They have no chance whatsoever to get points out of the Vuelta so sending a young team is a good choice

I dunno what to make of Gesink this year.
Last year he had a pretty decent comeback from his broken leg with 1st california, 4th Suisse (23 seconds off Costa) and 6th Vuelta.
But this year has been pretty bad. He was good in february. In PN he abandoned ill. In Catalunya 6th (decent). Terrible in Romandie, good for only 1 week in the Giro, and finally abandoned ill. And half-decent in the Tour as domestique.
But put together it's an awful year in terms of results. Even worse than 2012. I think he has definitely lost his climbing ability which he had before. He'll either need to refocus on that in the winter and try to get back to that level next year, or just put aside his ambitions for the grand tours and focus on small tours and classics, and become a helper in GT's.
I fear any potential he had before the leg-break is gone
It makes sense..good february..then prepearing for Giro. Giro good..to cold ..to extreme. Thin-tall guys did not survived that (Wiggins, gesink , Hesjedal).
Ofcorse you will be medicore at TdF when you peak is aimed for Giro...
On he's position..After Giro abandon. Skip TdF and prepeare for Vuelta if you want a descent GT. He would have been up there with Nibali group. |

Gesink was not mediocre at the TDF, he played his role perfectly as a helper which was his states position for that race. He is at the crossroads as a GT contender and in my opinion should concentrate on one week tours and hilly 1 day races and work for others in the GT's.
