It also favours the big engines. Evans and Schleck might have a chance at top 10 today

The sad thing is, a high pace on the flat favours the heaviest climbers.
i.e. Froome
Froome would win anyway, lame is that Europcar is going to give Froome 50 mountain points.

I suspect that Rolland will attack right at the base of Ventoux, in which case most people are unlikely to bother chasing it (apart from second tier climbers) and Rolland still has a chance at the stage win and the 50 mountain points. I can see why they are doing this, even if yeah it isn't necessarily the best plan.
I guess gamble big or go home?

It's official now: Europcar is a lame team..... "Breakaway, you wait for Rolland, or you get caught! Don't mind if he outclimbs you all, you should wait because we are Europcar!"
Can't see anything bad or lame there. It's professional cycling man, teams do best for them, that will give them results=money. If they don't have rider in breakaway (e1 don't want him), they chase
It's so simple.

And gap is up a bit to 3.10, so what was Europcar doing? They will attack at foot of Ventoux or earlier? Pace weill be so high at that time, that they will get nowhere.

Oh hello there Movistar, just casually moving to the front of the peloton to reportedly help take over the job of pace-making from Europcar are we? |

Nah he still wouldn't be given enough leeway for that IMO, stage win more likely. But anyway, Quintana is certainly a shot for GC and now Movistar are working for him.

If they carry Froome till bottom of Ventoux. Even if breakaway has like 6-7 min, there is nobody stopping him. He is surely winning and extending his lead today and who knows might win Climber's jersey by end of tour. |

Team Sky Bluff will finally be made.Watch out for a repeat performance from dreaded Sky train grinding the peleton down to Porte n Froome-bot.Unlikely for any of the top 5 to gain any time(barring Froome-bot).May be Sky will let Quintana go,but i dont see Contador or the two belkin boys being let go.

Hearing reports of Alberto Contador changing his bike before the Mont Ventoux, probably not unexpected but interesting to note. |
