Phew, thought Pedraza was going to loose minutes there, but instead, back in the top 10!

Stage win the yellow jersey, that's pretty good
Nice to have some air between Pluchkin and Cunego, but still a long run in. Epic battle though, we should have many of those

What a fight we're going to have. And if Tenorio and Madrazo finish both in top 10/top 5, this could be a massive points haul for Santander. |

Yeah, although I really would prefer a bit of sacrifice from Tenorio to get Madrazo the win.

And that'd be why you previously said Ponzi wasn't out for the GC. Great. I just hope he isn't injured. |

Well I was scared for a bit, but that turned out really well for Amador.

Actually just to clarify I said that because of his 73 mountain stat. I had forgotten about this crash when I wrote the TT report.

Yeah, everything's great, my GC hopes totally gone away and my leader is most probably injured. My only hopes now are that AI of my team will try to attack and attack and attack in every possible stage.....

I'd just like to take a moment to point out how accurate the comparisons between this Ponzi and real-life Sagan are. This is exactly how Sagan won green in 2012 - get in breaks and harvest the points no one else can get.

Some good racing so far. The big four all seem equally strong. Pluchkin, helped by the yellow jersey bonus definatly isn't weaker than Madrazo or Schleck.
Ponzi
And ofcourse some great reports by Count!

Great report
And I'm not just saying that because Morizot won the stage, meaning Pearl Adidas has won a stage in every GT this year

Another good day for Alex extending the lead to 2nd place. Surprising to see Cunego lose touch though. Those two flat stages are very welcome now!
Madrazo is going to be a beast in that final week! I hope we can hang on!

How nice would it be if PCM would have the pre-match/half-time/full-time speech option from Football Manager:
Pre-stage:
Assertive: We have all to work for Cunego at this stage, we need to get the time on those mountains for him before the last ITT
Damiano Cunego Seems to be motivated
William Bonnet Didn't seem to have listened
Gerald Ciolek Didn't seem to have listened
Juan Jose Cobo No reaction
Moises Duenas No reaction
Manuel Lloret No reaction
Maxime Monfort No reaction
Artemio Moschella No reaction
Macjej Ulanowski Didn't seem to have listened
Mid stage before the important mountain:
Aggressive: (Madiot) ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!!!
Damiano Cunego Didn't seem to have listened
William Bonnet Too far behind
Gerald Ciolek Too far behind
Juan Jose Cobo Not in the group, doesn't care
Moises Duenas Didn't seem to have listened
Manuel Lloret Didn't seem to have listened
Maxime Monfort Not in the group, doesn't care
Artemio Moschella Not in the group, doesn't care
Macjej Ulanowski Too far away
After the stage:
Assertive: We should have won here!
Damiano Cunego Didn't seem to have listened
William Bonnet Confused
Gerald Ciolek Confused
Juan Jose Cobo Didn't seem to have listened
Moises Duenas Didn't seem to have listened
Manuel Lloret Didn't seem to have listened
Maxime Monfort Didn't seem to have listened
Artemio Moschella Didn't seem to have listened
Macjej Ulanowski Confused
Even though I have the Tour de France as a Top 5 goal.. Having the current Tour de France champion the real goal is to defend that title.
It's not over but losing ground on the mountains is really bad for the weakest TT rider of the favourites.

Despite the lack of gaps, I think these first mountain stages have been really interesting. Schleck's attempts to shake Pluchkin should pay off eventually (Port de Larrau and La Plagne will be the most decisive MTFs, I'd say).
Madrazo has been a bit more quiet so far, but I'm guessing he's just charging up for later. Would be good for him if he could take yellow before the long TT, otherwise I think Pluchkin has a fair chance of keeping it till Paris.
Very entertaining reports, Count

Great stage for Wiggle. Great reporting too. Congrats to an ex-team member in Morizot for the win. Couldn't lose to a nicer manager
Real pity there wasn't an intermediate sprint in the stage too, but can't really complain with now being joint 1st in mountains too!
Go Ponzi! |

12 seconds gained is good, but I need to get ahead in the next couple of mountain stages ahead of the TT. As the Giro showed, the yellow jersey bonus is vital.

Brilliant post, Rin
It's great to see the big four riders being competitive, the mountain stages to come should be great to read. I must say I fancy Pluchkin for the overall win.
And great racing by Morizot and Ponzi as well, congratulations! |

That was one of the reason for choosing the strong TT team here. Can't believe how infective this Tour is, find myself checking for updates whenever possible
