It's strange how we got such a selection with the Bretagnes race and not so much with the similar circuit style race here. Possibly the Ginanni crash had something to do with it or just simply tame AI.
It is a shame that this HC race is probably going to remembered for the wrong reasons. I think fenian's position here is not about Ginanni crashing but the stage design for this race, which has obviously not been ideal.
I don't think making or choosing a decent hilly race is easy - I suspect there will be some frustration at various stage races over the year, particularly the hilly ones (hopefully not Tirrano ).
Back to this race though, my real reasons for posting is to say mb keep it going mate. Stage six looks to me like it will cause a pretty hard selection I am eager to see how long the home hero Hoffman can hold on!

Sorry for the delay, I've been really busy at work, so it's been a struggle to clear a couple of hours to race the stage.
I plan to race and post it tomorrow, hopefully I won't delay the game any further.

No problem mate, I'm looking forward as always to see what awaits in the final two stages!
I agree with Smowz that stage 6 should defiantly create some gaps, though I wonder how much of a "mountain" that final climb will be like... It would suit Roche, if it's not just a little bump on the road, or at least ridden like that

Yeah, no hurry Mb, i was just "checking" if you are not fed up with reporting after what happened. And i am also tuned up for the remaining stages. While it is almost certain that Hoffman will loose the jersey, it could be interesting stage and he can strike back in the last one hopefully.

Any idea when stage 6 is going to be posted? Not impatient or rushing, just asking

Bit ridiculous that a sprinter is going win a hilly stage race... Well done to Metinvest though
Nothing for us today, I really hope Boswell can get into break tomorrow and Lijke finish possibly in Top 5 on the stage.

Another uneventful day for MTN. Well, didn't expect much from this race anyway

Not very happy with this race...7th is far too less for Bellis imo. In especially as he should do better in a sprint today to grab bonus seconds.
Plus in a HC race I would have had expected to have a bigger selection. This is not mainly a stage problem here. It`s more a PCM12 problem, that riders hang onto it far too long. In especially in the MG as secondary stats are quite high at times.
I really hope to have more selective races in other races. Otherwise it`s often about who is getting the bonus seconds only...
And even worse here. Froome had a clear gap and should have been rewarded...
This race probably have been a huge disappointment for a lot of us. This season might become a gamble in many races.
Thanks for the report mb. Was good to see that Bellis was at least active where I had expected him to struggle today. |

Exactly my thoughts. I like to see underdogs surprising, but it shouldn't be sprinters winning over elite puncheurs.

Well. Tbf it was a sprinter with solid climbing skills, National Bonus and the Yellow jersey bonus. But still quite disappointing. Could have saved Bellis race days then when seeing that Kunitski was also in the same time and as leader maybe with better stage results to be closer to top10...

Definitely. This race didn't have any serious time gaps as it should've. Too many riders in the top 25 GC with s.t. (Go have a look). There should've been more time gaps amongst those in the top 25. More of a PCM12 problem than anything else.
Thanks mb for another great report

Well two rather disappointing hilly stages this morning. Particularly so in South Africa as this was really it - the favourites all seem to wait for something as if they need some sort of 12% gradient in the final 5 kilometres before doing anything.
Credit to Hoffman and Metinvest though by far their biggest performance in the ManGame.

Boring stage, but Flügel keeps second atleast. Seems like PCM12 got a problem with hilly stages, really hope that this changes over the season...

What's going on with Barrio?!? At least Gil will pickup a few points but definitely a race to forget.

Complete anti-climax there, I can't be too disappointed with third but then again, it really sucks that such a interesting stage turns out to be so boring.
Congratulations to Hoffman and Metinvest, awesome result for them!

I think that you overestimate his sprinting abilities all the time. He won't always be able to sprint for the bonus seconds.
But yeah shitty stage and while Gautier did well he is down on time against people he should be beating.

Well, I understand roturn. A rider with 79 hil and 74 SP should be able to win sprints in stage's like this. |
