I would share mine, but I don't really want to do that unless I get an okay first.
And I feel you.

This excuse that you didn't know how long it should have been isn't valid because if you did a little bit of research you could have found the applications for the 2012 season, and then you could have analysed the apps that got members a team. (Except maybe for mine, as I barely got in. Mostly due to the # of people that also applied.) And this year there were a lot of people that applied and app quality was most of the talking point.

Crap, I didn't PM so I don't have it to show. Maybe that's a blessing in disguise.

Same. I would show you mine, but didn't PM it through, so don't have anything to show.

Wow, you really rocked it with the wall of text jseadog1.
I have to agree with Miggi, that public application is imo better.First you can see how much people put in it and you dont look like a fool then. Second advantage is, if you, for example see five people in front of you applied with an idea of german team, you can avoid it to being sixth.
I see application for the man game as something like the motivational text like you are sometimes asked to write when you are looking for the job, there you have to also write a bit more about your thoughts, abilities and reasons. However much of you probably has not been not through the job interview so far.

Exactly this is the advantage of this year imo. What is the reason to just look after other apps?
Then the first will be the worst just because he had own ideas only. And should he be punished for this?
Everyone is supposed to make an own text. And as you see some had a long app without knowing the quality importance while others had a very poor try.And this was a good first sight of who really wants to join and made some thoughts about it before. |

The reason that we went away from public applications was the poeple started quoting and copying other applications, thus we found it more fairly (and easier for us to distinguish between them) to not have them public. As someone (don't remember who) wrote above it would just have taken a minimum of work to check last years applications, and it would not take much more time to write a good application...

You got me wrong my friends, i was not speaking about copyrighting ideas, just looking on form of text and learning from it. But as you said, one can always look at the older applications.
You are the bosses and if you think secret applications are better, you know what you are saying.
I have clear conscience, was not copyrighting anything in my last years application, it was just nice and funny read the others also, that is why i pointed it out...

I think anonymous applications are also far better. It gives everyone the same chances to show how dedicated they are, and just how well prepared they are.
No point in stealing or altering other peoples setup, or ideas. When applying for a job you don't look at the other applications either before writing your own. You can't make the best of others, you have to make the best of your own.
My strengths aren't the same as other people in here, and if Heine wrote 2 Word documents of application, I would feel obliged to do so aswell, because that is just the new standard. No need for that.
Also to sort people like jseadog1 out of contention it seems much more legit, when he posts that short an application (If he did). If he had 20 something applications before him that were all including a loooot of different ideas, then he would probably just have copied some of that into his own words, and made a fine looking application, while it's quite obvious that he has no intention of putting in the required amount of time, either on reading rules or in managing his team. Or that is simply how I read that application.
Just for the record (I keep statistics on everything ).
I spent 21 hours within the database already. I have created a talents database of my own including 121 riders, maxed out with the 2012 statgain, so it's easier for me to see which talents I want to make a bid for once the transfer season starts. Also I made a DB including the riders already maxed out that could be interesting. Sorting both by nationality, AVR and by distinct characteristica.
Hours spent on those databases (summed up): 32.
Is that a lot? Yes. Is that too much? Yes. Will I spend more? Yes. Am I alright? No.

You thoughts people are driven by convicton that people dont have own ideas, probably from you own experiences?
As i said, i was rather misunderstood, or i was speaking from my own last year experience when it helped me, but i had no intensions to copy something because of it.
But i agree on most things you guys suggested.
And i am crazy in this too SotD, it took me many hours also to make shortlists, but i love it.

I personally think that everyone has ideas about all the questions which we asked, but it is beneficial if everyone expresses it their way in as many words as they feel are appropriate. By seeing the depth of the answers people go in to, we can see what sort of quality we can expect from media threads, etc. 1 line answers do not go down well this way.
This only works, of course, if no one knows how much effort everyone else puts in.

I spent virtually no time on my application
I made it up as i went a long... (dont kick me out )
Mine was really long compared to jsea's and it was first in thread...
but i also sent a PM to SN with a clearer picture of my team idea after the original app...
I think it was good that the apps were hidden when seen by an admin. But now that they are closed i think it would be good to release them (if people agree) so those unsuccessful can learn what they could do differently, as several of them seem really disappointed (and cause i want to see mine again but i didnt copy it anywhere)

I agree. Keep them secret during application process (maybe PM only?) but allow them to be released, at the writers discretion. And yes, you may (if you still have it) release mine. Go for it.

Just as a note also for the newer managers (not meant bad)
Creating your own "scouted" DB doesn't keep you at the Man Game because it's what you do for yourself but for the Man-Game.
I did also a list of riders I will get but just noticed the riders but when I see which new managers came up and their nations then I think at least my exotic part of the list like Australians or New Zealanders could be ticked off. ^^
When you see teams like Domina Vacanze taking part at the transfers and then haven't even bothered to do the race planning -> out of PT and the Man-Game.
Also being active at the Race Discussions etc. isn't bad, because just reading (without logging in especially) will lead into thinking you aren't interested and inactive in the game which is negative.
Would be very interesting what I wrote for my application 2009? for the 2010 season. Just could just find the 2011 and 2012 applications.
I think it was about creating a german team which was for the first season good but somehow I got less and less germans but more and more spaniards.
Now with Lotto I try to have a majority of belgian riders which will be hard because all of the interesting belgians are at teams where I think they won't transfer them.
