Great presentation Heine. Having survived the relegation dog-fight last season, looks like you have embraced the opportunity to kick on to become a long-term established PT squad. Impressive that you have managed to keep the age profile down while doing so, as well as increasing the quality. Well done all round!

Great stuff with those rider cards. Nice squad as well. If Claeys steps up a level or two and Denifl lives up to his potential, you may well enjoy a less thrilling (relegation fight affected) season this year
Monsalve, Zabel and Zepuntke add some potentially nice scoring.
Thanks mate, Fintas did a great job with those. I really hope I will be farther away from relegation this year. I feel I've strenghtened my squad in ever catagory (Denifl+Monsalve > Sella+Monsalve, Claeys+Flügel > Klemme+Flügel+Pippo, Zabel > Zabel and Zepuntke > Zepuntke)

That's quite a team!
Congratulations on adding a couple of leaders to a developing squad. With a trained Denifl in addition to Monsalve, Claeys and Flügel you're looking extremely strong for both the mountains and the hills. Obviously a bit more of a question mark coming to cobbles and sprints, but Zepunkte looks good to score top 10s and top 5s on the cobbles. Zabel should also be able to mix it in the top 5/top 10 in the sprints, but he's obviously depending on picking the right train, just like Kristoff is for me.
Overall a very strong looking team. The depth for the mountains is also good, and with such leaders, you should at least complete your goal and do a top 10. Though, if the upgraded Denifl does well and Claeys performs according to his hill stat, I expect you to be a top 5 team.
I really hope you are right, a top 5 would be perfect. Zabel should be among the spritners behind the best, but I hope to train him to be among the best in the future. Now I just have to hope that Clayes perform better this season, I feel he's a gamble.

I'm quite happy with keeping a young profile, even though most of the reason for that is signings did several seasons ago. Since then we've stopped adding riders as early as Zepuntke and Zabel was added which makes them max out at a younger age than most others. I really hope you are right and that I got the best for a long-term PT squad now

Finally gotten around to updating the main post with the team. Nice to see that 14 of 23 are German/Austrian. Hopefully we will be able to stay at that number, or increase it in the future.
Also the team is pretty happy about our first stage win this season. Big congratulations to Matthias Brändle!

VolksWagen to stop their sponsoring into cycling
Following the diesel-"crisis" VolksWagen has informed the team that they will stop the sponsorship after the current season. This comes on top of disappointing results from the team that might end with relegation. Manager Heine issued a short statement:
"We are sad to see VolksWagen go after the 4 year support. It has been a time with a lot of development for the team and we hope that we will be able to continue with the same longterm plan even with a change in sponsorship. Fortunately we can inform everyone that Andritz will be staying for at least 1 more season and we are already in talks with other potential sponsors"

Couldn't they just dodge VFL Wolfsburg instead?
A big name in cycling to disappear, hopefully there will be a worthy replacement.

Like Alak I got inspired by Knockout, so without further ado, here are my guys:
Jaco Venter | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 70 | 72 | 75 | 60 | 71 | 73 | 69 | 50 | 58 | 64 | 68 | 66 | 60 | 2016 | 70 | 74 | 77 | 60 | 72 | 74 | 71 | 50 | 58 | 66 | 70 | 67 | 60 |
Jaco is developing into a great option rider. If we relegate he can lead, if not he will be a good domestique both in hilly and mountainous races. He will also be able to go on attacks and might win KoM-jerseys.
Daniel Schorn | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 74 | 56 | 61 | 69 | 67 | 64 | 73 | 62 | 75 | 75 | 66 | 65 | 70 | 2015 | 76 | 56 | 61 | 69 | 68 | 65 | 77 | 62 | 77 | 77 | 66 | 65 | 72 |
Daniel is developing into a great leadout rider, and will really step into the job as Zabel's main helper. With his help we expect Zabel to do better next year.
Daniel Paulus | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 68 | 69 | 72 | 63 | 69 | 66 | 69 | 56 | 62 | 67 | 68 | 66 | 63 | 2016 | 69 | 72 | 75 | 64 | 70 | 67 | 71 | 56 | 62 | 69 | 71 | 67 | 64 | 2017? | 69 | 74 | 77 | 65 | 71 | 68 | 73 | 56 | 62 | 71 | 73 | 67 | 64 |
Daniel was signed as a future hilly domestique/attacker. Got a good combination of Mon and Hill and is a very similar rider to Jaco Venter.
Shane Archbold | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 71 | 58 | 62 | 75 | 71 | 69 | 68 | 60 | 72 | 74 | 68 | 66 | 65 | 2016 | 73 | 58 | 62 | 77 | 72 | 71 | 70 | 60 | 73 | 75 | 68 | 66 | 67 |
Shane has developed into a combined leadout/ TTT rider. This makes him a rider we can throw into the team on nearly any stage race and he will do a good job.
Kevin Predatsch | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 67 | 53 | 55 | 75 | 71 | 75 | 67 | 62 | 53 | 64 | 71 | 65 | 75 | 2016 | 69 | 53 | 55 | 77 | 73 | 77 | 69 | 62 | 54 | 65 | 71 | 65 | 77 |
Kevin has been a TT-project of the team and wil lfinally max out. He will be used as a TTT rider in the future.
Lukas Postlberger | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 69 | 58 | 67 | 72 | 72 | 69 | 65 | 56 | 66 | 68 | 73 | 60 | 72 | 2016 | 71 | 58 | 68 | 75 | 74 | 70 | 67 | 56 | 68 | 69 | 73 | 61 | 75 | 2017? | 73 | 58 | 68 | 77 | 75 | 72 | 69 | 56 | 69 | 70 | 73 | 61 | 77 |
Lukas is a stronger version of Kevin. Better Flat, Better Hill/Mon and same Time Trial ability (when maxed next year). He is a versatile helper we can thrown into any race without being afraid of him DNFing
Mike Aaron Egger | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 65 | 70 | 69 | 54 | 68 | 73 | 67 | 59 | 64 | 70 | 68 | 63 | 54 | 2016 | 66 | 73 | 72 | 55 | 69 | 75 | 69 | 59 | 64 | 72 | 71 | 64 | 55 | 2017? | 66 | 75 | 74 | 55 | 70 | 76 | 71 | 59 | 64 | 74 | 73 | 65 | 55 |
Mike is developing into a good climber. He has reached a stat level that combined with his acceleration and fighting ability should make him join breaks. Hopefully we will see some suprise wins from him soon.
Nevio Tirolini | Fla | Mon | Hil | TT | Sta | Res | Rec | Cob | Spr | Acc | Fig | Dwn | Prl | 2015 | 67 | 58 | 52 | 60 | 69 | 67 | 63 | 61 | 70 | 72 | 57 | 62 | 60 | 2016 | 69 | 59 | 53 | 60 | 71 | 68 | 66 | 63 | 73 | 74 | 57 | 63 | 60 | 2017? | 71 | 59 | 54 | 60 | 73 | 69 | 72 | 64 | 75 | 76 | 57 | 63 | 60 |
Nevio was signed as a stagiere last year and will most likely get a full contract this season. He's developing nicely and will be a good leadout for Zabel. He showed great work effort during Avenir.
Anyway, this gives us this pre-renewals team:

New main sponsor and team name
Wiesenhof-Andritz
Following the relegation from the Pro Tour and VolksWagen leaving as main sponsor the team had to find someone new. Wiesenhof has a history in sponsoring cycling and we are really happy to have them on board! This gives us the ability to continue our work, both towards promoting back to the Pro Tour but also develop German and Austrian cycling.
The new jersey changes both designed and theme from last season. We hope to be easy to spot in the peloton with our new, beautifull green jerseys!

Flügel is the National Champion
After a dissapointing season the team got one last big win before going down to the Pro Continental Division. Puncheur veteran Alexandar Flügel did his best race of the season winning the national champion in his last race with the VolksWagen-jersey. Next season he will be racing in a special designed jersey from the famous designer Krisa with new sponsor Wiesenhof. We are happy that we for the first time got the German Champion!

Denifl and Claeys leaving after relegation?
Rumours are that Denifl and Claeys consider leaving Wiesenhof-Andritz after the relegation to PCT. Both riders were signed last season to strenghten the squad in a push for top 10 and it's said that they are dissapointed in the support they are getting from the team and the manager.
Wiesenhof-management has denied to comment on the case, so we can't be sure if the will be leaving at all, leaving as free agents or will be traded away. We can be sure however that something will happen. Relegation means a lower wage cap and that always means changes in the squad.

Post renewals, Denifl gone!
To start with the first first, the utter bag of..... called Denifl has left the squad, he didn't agree with the team that he deserved 50.000 as wage and thus he can rot in free agency! May the team signing him regret forever!
Anyway, back to the more important stuff, post-renewal wages:
Last name | First name | Wage | Monsalve | Yonathan | € 580.000 | Claeys | Dimitri | € 450.000 | Flügel | Aleksandar | € 400.000 | Zepuntke | Ruben | € 200.000 | Zabel | Rick | € 165.000 | Brändle | Matthias | € 140.000 | Preidler | Georg | € 140.000 | Venter | Jaco | € 70.000 | Mai | Christoph | € 60.000 | Paulus | Daniel | € 55.000 | Kovalev | Ivan | € 50.000 | Archbold | Shane | € 50.000 | Predatsch | Kevin | € 50.000 | Postlberger | Lukas | € 50.000 | Schorn | Daniel | € 50.000 | Taubel | Christoph | € 50.000 | Egger | Mike Aaron | € 50.000 |
In general our riders are were reasonable. Monsalve is our top earner and we expect him to have a breakout season this year, he's followed by riders like Flügel, Zepuntke, Zabel, Brändle and Preidler. Alle of them riders that will be important in the coming season. Why not mention Claeys? That is simply because he will leave the team. We are open for both pure money offers and rider swaps.
Other than Claeys there are no riders planned to sell, and we would be happy to keep everyone. However, a lot could happen during the transfer season and we are always willing to talk.
We are looking forward to the season!
