Great race by UniCredit in France! It's great to see you back again cunego. Your story about Nerz has always been my favorite one-rider story, and i have got a lot of motivation and inspiration from this story. Good luck!

@ all: I'm very grateful for all your nice comments It confirms my decision to return to this.
@ sutty68: To be honest, I had hoped for more than the third place, but the race wasn't hard enough to shake off Roux, and Lulu Sanchez was simply too strong, so yeah, third is good
@ valverde321: Thanks a lot! Yeah, you probably weren't the only one who I told that That's why I didn't pressure myself when I felt my motivation going down last year. But now I'm back ... Oh, and thanks for the compliments, I'm very flattered

March 7-13
UniCredit domination - Machado with a great success
Tirreno-Adriatico continues to be undisputed property of UniCredit. While last year's winner Damiano Cunego suffered from a fall on the second stage and lost all his chances early, his predecessor from 2011, Vincenzo Nibali, timed his fitness peak to perfection and had no problems to take the win in a strong field.
The foundation was layed in a surprisingly strong team time trial, which UniCredit finished on a third place, only 20 seconds behind Leopard around Andy Schleck. The decisive moment took place on the queen stage five. On the final, 12 km long ascent towards Prati di Tivo, Nibali shook off Schleck and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) and distanced both by about a minute. He could't take the stage win, though, since Tiago Machado kept some of the advance he still held from his breakaway. With another strong fifth place in the concluding short time trial, he secured his spot on top of the podium with ease.
The man with the trident: Vincenzo Nibali wins the Tirreno for the second time.
Sagan twice, Visconti compensates for Movistar
The double world champion Peter Sagan showed up in good shape for his first world tour race. He took the stage wins on the uphill finishes of stages two and four, framing another second place behind Koldo Fernandez on the flat stage three. With these results, he has to be considered as the top favorite for the upcoming Milano - San Remo.
Another rider that was expected to do very well here was Alejandro Valverde (Movistar). But the Spaniard was involved in the same crash as Damiano Cunego on stage and not only lost some time, but evidently got hurt as well - he collapsed on the queen stage and lost half an hour on Machado and Nibali. The race wasn't a complete failure for Movistar, though. On the uphill finish of stage six, Giovanni Visconti showed his impressive puncheur qualities and took the win. If he can repeat these performances, we can expect him to be among the best in the big hilly classics later on.
Peter Sagan pulls away with a compelling acceleration to take his second stage win.

@ all: Once again, thanks a lot, guys It was indeed a pretty great race for us, and currently, there's no sign of an end.
@ juanmotr: Always nice to hear from one of the quiet readers Much appreciated. It'll take a while until Dominik will race again (Mid-April), but I think I'll get there quicker now with the new reporting style.
I just played Milano - San Remo, report will come tomorrow. |

March 17
They just don't stop!
During the last few weeks, UniCredit has continued to emerge as one of the best cycling teams in history. This development has reached is preliminary climax today in Italy at the most prestigeous of all one-day-classics, La Primavera, La Classicissima: Milano – San Remo.
Double World Champion Peter Sagan arrived as the main favorite and he didn't disappoint. On the last ascent, the Poggio, last year's second Damiano Cunego put the hammer down, preparing the final acceleration by Sagan. He broke free from the main peloton and rode home to take the win. And as if that wasn't enough, Heinrich Haussler went on to win the sprint from the charging peloton, overtaking his compatiots Matthew Goss (Sky) and Allan Davis (Orica) on the last meters.
The pack is charging to the line as Peter Sagan celebrates another huge win.
Crashes overshadow the race – Pure sprinters without a chance
But we shouldn't forget that there were still other riders participating. The main part of the race was dominated by a six men break including Franco Pellizotti (Katusha) and Javier Moreno (Vodafone). They reached a maximum advance of about 10 minutes over the Passo del Turchino but were caught on the ascent up to La Cipressa.
Most of the day, the peloton was led by Team T-Mobile. They surely hoped for a strong result in the sprint by their top star Mark Cavendish. But UniCredit's tactics on the final climbs have put a stoke in their wheels. The final was simply to hard, the Manx Man finished on a poor 31st place, André Greipel as the best of the pure sprinters came in 8th.
Negative highlights were numerous falls that occured despite fantastic wheather conditions. It started with Jeremy Hunt (Sky), who found his way back into the peloton, and culminated in the withdrawals of Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre) and Romain Sicard (Euskaltel).
As one of the many riders that crashed, Leonardo Bertagnolli (Katusha) is watched by a shocked spectator.
1 | Peter Sagan | UniCredit | 7h41'26 | 2 | Heinrich Haussler | UniCredit | s.t. | 3 | Matthew Goss | Sky ProCycling | s.t. | 4 | Allan Davis | Orica – Greenedge | s.t. | 5 | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | s.t. |

And Haussler makes it a Great 1-2
And i reckon Bertagnolli deliberately crashed in front of that nice young lady |

UniCredit domination
But it was a long day in the saddle: Sagan won in 25h49'38. That's more than a day
