@Ian Butler - Yes it is.
Tour of Qatar Stage 4,5,6
As usual in Qatar, here is another flat stage (even) without real challenging speed - bumps(!).
This stage was a typical Qatar stage. Nothing interesting happened in the first 140kms, and then came the mass - sprint. This time, we didn't set up our train, and let Bartosz do his thing. Cavendish wasn't as good in the latter stages, as he is usually, but we tried to get his wheel. Will it be a good choice?
And André Greipel wins stage 4! This is his 2nd stage win here in Qatar, and he looks to be in shape before the P-N, T-A duo and the MSR. Cav came 2nd, and Gossy took 3rd before Bartosz.
1 | André Greipel | Lotto Belisol Team | 3h11'11 | 2 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 3 | Matthew Goss | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | 4 | Bartosz Piasecki | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 5 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 6 | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 7 | Heinrich Haussler | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 8 | Nico Eeckhout | An Post - Sean Kelly | s.t. | 9 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Robert Hunter | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. |
I can't write any interesting things about the flats anymore.
Just the usual flat stuff here too, but a pretty big break got away. No matter what, they've been brought back, and the pack started to prepare for a mass - sprint. We decided to make our train, it was looking good in the final kilometres. Can we get a podium today?
Matty Goss wins it! He was by far the strongest, and beated Greipel and Cav. Impressive performance from the aussie! Bartosz comes in 5th.
1 | Matthew Goss | Orica - GreenEdge | 3h02'21 | 2 | André Greipel | Lotto Belisol Team | s.t. | 3 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 4 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 5 | Bartosz Piasecki | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 6 | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 7 | Robert Hunter | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 8 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Andrea Guardini | Farnese Vini - Selle Italia | s.t. | 10 | Sven Vandousselaere | Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator | s.t. |
Here is the final stage's profile, no surprise, it's flat.
This stage was just like the other 5. Mass - sprint. Bartosz was not feeling so good today, so we decided to take it easy, and just try to get a top 10. At the front Sky was hammering the field and initiated a very high pace. We tried to catch Cav's wheel, but Bartosz was unable to.
And Mark Cavendish wins in Qatar! With the bonification seconds he also takes the GC! Hunter comes 2nd and Bartosz is 7th.

Congrats on a great performance in Santos, hopefully you'll get at least one sprint win here in Qatar!
I'm presuming Pye will lead on the Cobbles, what are his other targets/big races this season?

Bartosz in an interview with cyclingnews.com:
"It's true that I'm dissapointed with my results in Quatar, but neither me nor my teammates were in a good shape. With the strong field of sprinters there was not much we could do. I know we will bounce back, and I feel my first win with this team is not far away!"

Tour of Oman Stage 1,2,3,4
A pretty much Qatar like profile, so no difficulties for the sprinters. Cavendish?
The pace in the peloton was easily controlled by Team Sky, and they were happy to catch the break alone, so Cavendish was obviously feeling good.
And Cav takes it! He beated the others very easily, and the other sprinters could only follow the ManxMan from a very long distance. No doubt he is the fastest here in Oman! Pérez from Euskaltel came 2nd and Breschel took the 3rd. Bahr disappoints with the 11th place...
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | 3h37'52 | 2 | Rubén Pérez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 3 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 5 | Julien Simon | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | 6 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | s.t. | 7 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 8 | Jimmy Casper | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 9 | Adrien Petit | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. | 10 | Aidis Kruopis | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. |
Somehow the game jumped through a day, but here are the results and the profile. I don't know what happened, I was pretty pissed about it.
The stage is pretty much a big downhill, so again mass-sprint. Cavendish again?
Just the usual scenario, BotD, Sky, mass - sprint. They even chased down their own Hayman, who was also in the break!
Yet again, the Manx Missile takes it again with ease! Only Hushovd could come close, but Cav was simply unbeatable! Breschel was also really strong, and came 3rd. Bahr simply can't find his sprinting form, and finishes 10th.
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | 3h22'31 | 2 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 3 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 4 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | s.t. | 6 | Rubén Pérez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 7 | Greg Van Avermaet | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 8 | Jure Kocjan | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | 9 | Bernhard Eisel | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 10 | Christian Bahr | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. |
This is the first chance for the punchers, to gain some time, but I'm afraid these hills are neither long nor steep enough to drop the sprinters.
The breakaway formed early today, but this time not Sky(!) but BMC chased them down. There were no real high pace on the hills, so the conditions were ideal for a mass - sprint.
Cav domination! 3 out of 4! Cav launched perfectly from EBH's wheel and won with ease. Hushovd was again 2nd and Breschel 3rd. Bahr came again disappointingly just 14th.
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | 3h02'46 | 2 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 3 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. | 5 | Fabian Cancellara | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | 6 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 7 | Jimmy Casper | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 8 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | s.t. | 9 | Pablo Urtasun | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 10 | Rubén Pérez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. |
Cav rules the race so far with ease.
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | 9h48'03 | 2 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | + 20 | 3 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 28 | 4 | Rubén Pérez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 32 | 5 | Jaan Kirsipuu | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | + 40 | 6 | Aidis Kruopis | Orica - GreenEdge | + 42 | 7 | Jens Keukeleire | Orica - GreenEdge | + 44 | 8 | Daniele Callegarin | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | 9 | Marcel Wyss | Team NetApp | s.t. | 10 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | + 52 |
Anyone surprised?
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | | 70 | 2 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | | 59 | 3 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | | 48 | 4 | Rubén Pérez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | | 34 | 5 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | | 33 | 6 | Julien Simon | Saur - Sojasun | | 26 | 7 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | | 26 | 8 | Jimmy Casper | AG2R La Mondiale | | 24 | 9 | Aidis Kruopis | Orica - GreenEdge | | 21 | 10 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | | 18 |

Here it comes, the first MTF of the year! The Green Mountain (Jabal al Adhkar) is extremely steep, but quite short, because it will only be climbed to the half of the actual mountain. Froome is the big favourite there, along with the RSNT guys and of course our Spiders.
Until the climb, nothing interesting happened. The BotD got caught at 15kms, and Sky and BMC started the pacemaking at the first part. Clemson and Gömböcz got boxed in, and they were sitting at the very end of the peloton. The good thing is, that Sutton and Mellberg were right upfront, holding tightly Froome's wheel.
At the middle of the climb, some splits happened, and Clemson and Gömböcz couldn't fight their way through. What a shame for them! Upfront Horner tries to get away, but he gets caught quick and easy. It looks like that, it'll be a 25 man group sprint. Who will take the win?
And Gary Sutton wins it! How amazing his sprint was! He even gapped the others, a SpiderTech win on the 5th stage! Vicioso comes 2nd, and to make this stage even better for SpiderTech, Mellberg comes 3rd!
1 | Gary Sutton | SpiderTech - Cervélo | 3h47'28 | 2 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | + 10 | 3 | Jan Mellberg | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 4 | Simon Spilak | Katusha Team | s.t. | 5 | Christophe Riblon | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | Tiago Machado | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | 7 | Carlos Barredo | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 8 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 9 | Martin Elmiger | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 10 | Chris Horner | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. |
Hushovd takes the lead on bonification seconds. Sutty is 2nd.
1 | Thor Hushovd | BMC Racing Team | 16h58'20 | 2 | Gary Sutton | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 14 | 3 | Ángel Vicioso | Katusha Team | + 32 | 4 | Jan Mellberg | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 36 | 5 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 43 | 6 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEdge | + 44 | 7 | Simon Spilak | Katusha Team | s.t. | 8 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 9 | Tiago Machado | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | 10 | Carlos Barredo | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. |
