Giro wildcards will be announced tomorrow, and according to one source, there's one surprise. Could perhaps be Colombia - Coldeportes. |

I really hope Team NetApp will be invited. Anyway, I would like to see Colombia - Coldeportes in Giro as well. Hopefully there will be no more 4 Italian teams invited once again..

I fear the surprise will be NetApp. To be honest, as much as I like König, I'd rather see the Colombians, or even whatever Italian team will be left out instead.

Champion system will be the surprise. Together with 3 Italian teams. Was rumoured in Belgian newspapers some weeks ago.

Nope. Whoever it is, is "coming back after 10 years", so it's either a colombian team, or more likely it's Jens Heppner of NetApp coming back to the Giro after his stage win and Maglia Rosa in 2001.

Indeed it is NetApp who are the surprise selection:
Giro d’Italia wildcards: Androni Giocattoli, Colnago-CSF Inox, Farnese Vini-Selle Italia, Team NetApp.
Tirreno-Adriatico: Acqua & Sapone, Colnago-CSF Inox, Colombia-Coldeportes, Farnese Vini-Selle Italia.
Milan-San Remo: Acqua & Sapone, Colnago-CSF Inox, Colombia-Coldeportes, Farnese Vini-Selle Italia, Project 1t4I, Team Type 1 – Sanofi, Utensilnord Named.
Tour of Lombardy: Acqua & Sapone, Androni Giocattoli, Colnago-CSF Inox, Colombia-Coldeportes, Farnese Vini-Selle Italia, Project 1t4I, Utensilnord Named.
I thought Acqua & Sapone were certain to get a Giro place. |

Certainly more than Farnese Vini. Great news for NetApp though, it will be interesting to see if Konig can deliver in a GT.

I'm guessing Pozzato is the main reason they'll be there.

Bleh. Just bleh.
Oh well, the world has survived things like AndalucÃa's 2011 Vuelta, so I guess we'll be fine.

Absolutely and Guardini. However, Pozzato will fail to achieve anything and Guardini may still be just short of having enough for a stage win. Certainly they will make the race less intersting than A&S, who have the ever-exciting Garzelli

It's nice to see a team like NetApp given a wildcard placing for one of the Grand Tours, it's also very good for German cycling who unfortunately lost the Milram team a few years ago.

Ohhh the best two teams that would have done something in Giro are left out. No idea how Acquarone didn't get in though. NetApp doesn't deserve it as much as the two imo, but it's should be great race for them, doubt they will do much though anyway.
CountArach Guardini can't get over a basic hill right now, he will do well in the first 4 stages, first MTF and he's gone imo. Hopefully he'll improve, as his spiriting is on very good level already.

Garzelli won the KoM last year, whilst Farnese or Colnago barely have done something but winning one stage. I'd rather change one of those for Acqua... Anyway, nice to see NetApp getting invited. It's great for the German cycling. |

Obviously, Di Luca. He was making noises about 'being back to his best' not so long ago.
Got to just shake your head at cycling sometimes and the inconsistency of those in charge.... |

Garzelli says that he had planned to retire after the Giro. He now says that he might retire right away. |
