Wenger was asked on the French television two days ago if Ferdinand being kept at home can be explained otherwise (than because of Terry). Answer : "you can't explain it any other way". |

Big article in the newspaper about France, looks like they ain't got much hope themselves. No star player. |

We'll see about that! The England team will annihilate this year although I think Ferdinand should have been called up. |

What does it take to be a star player ? Being called Ronaldo or Messi ? Only two teams can pretend to have one then.
As Zonal Marking (it's a must read site, check it out those who haven't) put it : France is the most unpredictable team of the tournament.
Our result will depend on a lot of factors, but if all of them flash green at the same time, we could make it very far in this tournament. Though if they flash red, it might just as well be one more disaster. |

Apparently the reason for Ferdinand not being included, could be race related, if true then Sol Campbell is going to give all his England caps back to the F.A |

That's nonsense
Defoe returned to England as his father died yesterday. Sad news along the death of Manuel Preciado, who was to be unveiled Villareal coach today I think ; /

He also said: "None of this really surprises me as I have experienced first-hand the FA's inability to treat players properly. After I came back to Arsenal at the start of 2010, I was playing as well as any defender in the country and legitimately thought I would get a call-up for the World Cup that summer."
That strikes me as incredibly deluded. There was no way he was ever going to the World Cup in 2010.
I do question the decision to not take Ferdinand, 'for footballing reasons' as he is a better defender than some of those chosen. The 'footballing reasons' must be to do with the harmony in the dressing room with both Terry and Ferdinand present. The same decision would have been made about Terry and Wayne Bridge if Bridge hadn't ruled him self out of selection for the World Cup. |

Totally agree with all of this statement mate, until the England big wigs keep there interfering noses out of squad selection then nothing will ever change |

For me the important part is that Terry is the one who is the d*ck here, in both Bridge (he banged his wife) and Ferdinand (recorded racist abuse to his brother). If you englishmen are happy to have such a shite in team,no problem for me.
Also dont forget Suarez got his ban and Terryy not, meanwhile Terrys racism was recorded unlike the Suarez one.Hypocricy of the highest level, our captain is innocent, oh boy

Going to post my predictions here to make a fool of myself:
Group A
1 Russia
2 Greece
3 Poland
4 Czech Republic
Russia will win this easily. Perhaps we Dutchies like Russia because of their Dutch coach, but I don't see how anyone else can beat them. Greece will beat Poland and Czech Republic with a boring 1-0, and I think the home adventage will give Poland a win over the Czech Republic.
Group B
1 Germany
2 Netherlands
3 Denmark
4 Portugal
Should be in the bag for Die Mannschaft, they can only attack but with the holes in the Dutch and Portugese defense and the lack of Danish quality I always see them scoring one more goal than their opponent. Denmark will win over Portugal because of their teamwork, I'm scared Eriksen will fail because he played a ridiculously high amount of matches this season for a 20-year old already.
Group C
1 Spain
2 Ireland
3 Italy
4 Croatia
My fist intuition said Italy 4th, but maybe the media is blowing up the story about them a lot. This group (or in fact the whole tourney) will be based on the defensive qualities of the teams: Greece and Ireland are specialists, other teams that desperately try to be like Chelsea, such as Italy, will fail.
Group D
1 France
2 Sweden
3 England
4 Ukraine
Like I said before, France and Spain are the only "good" teams to have a solid defense. England's preparation was a disaster, they're missing the best defenders they have, and -of course- Rooney. All Swedish eyes are on Zlatan, but I'm expecting a lot from Toivonen as well.
QF
Russia - Netherlands
Germany - Greece
Spain - Sweden
France - Ireland
No real surprises in the quarterfinals, but NL and Germany will have a very hard time.
SF
Netherlands - Spain
Germany - France
Defense will be decisive here. All teams have an equal attack, perhaps Spain a bit better and France a bit weaker because they often "go deep" with less people. Expecting extra time at Germany-France.
Final
Spain - France
There's no way to look over Spain here, they're simply too good not to win for the third time in a row. Only problem this tourney could be the miss of David Villa, but a Torres in form (!) will make up for that.

I don't think you'll find many people disagreeing with you in England. John Terry is not liked by most people. If his court case had been sooner it would have been better for England; if he's found innocent then the squad can move on but if he's found guilty then he's locked up and isn't eligible for selection. Either way it would have been better if he'd already been to court. |

Anyone else expecting fireworks from Italy's superstrikers? A combination of Ballotelli and Cassano will be very exciting On and of the pitch!

Evra is usually out of his element (leaves huge spaces behind him, etc.), Mexes and Rami have been showing good and bad things, not at the same time though. Sagna who should have been there as FB is injured.
Add that our defensive midfields are all more or less slightly injured (M'Vila and Alou Diarra) and uncertain for the England match, so no, we're far from having a solid defence at the moment. |

I'm not into football enough to follow the practice matches, so I mainly based this on the qualifications. They did well there though they were lucky to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina. So I didn't know about your trouble, though all I read in the newspapers nowadays is teams with injured defenders. Big question is whether a "weak" team with strong defending tactics (France imo) is better than a well-prepared attacking team (Germany).
Still expecting them to reach at least the semis, though.
