15th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 2 (Nizwa–Samail)
Boasson Hagen fastest in the sprint again in the desert
Sky's Edvald Boasson Hagen was the quickest in the final sprint into Samail ahead of Bernardo Riccio of CDC-Cavaliere and Landbouwkrediet's Frédéric Amorison.
The Tour of Qatar winner feeled off from his lead-out in the closing kilometre to win by a bike length on the line.
On a stage of little wind and glorious sunshine, the stage began with a 9 man breakaway, which could only gain around 2'10" on the pack behind. None of the intermediate sprints were contested for on the stage, with the group just riding through over the line.
With 20km to go, a Team Sky and Skil-Shimano led peleton brought back to the breakaway group, and the despite the attempts by other riders to attack, the pace was too high for any great gap to appear.
With 3km to go, the sprinter's teams had their lead-out organised and set, with Team Sky letting Skil-Shimano and Saur-Sojasun first battle for the perfect lead-out line. As the final kilometre appear, Sky made their move, putting Edvald Boasson Hagen in the perfect place, and with clear air to take the win.
The victory also results in Boasson Hagen taking the Overall Classification Jersey and totally dominating the other Classification Standings at the same time.
Another stage win for Boasson Hagen and Team Sky

16th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 3 (Saifat Ash Shiekh–Qurayy)
Saifat Ash Shiekh to Qurayy is the journey for the rider on stage 3 on the Tour of Oman. The 139km course takes the peleton across the northern coast, where sea breezes could draw in strong gales and crosswinds.
Riders to Watch: E. Boasson Hagen, L. Paolini, K. Van Hummel, G. Van Avermaet
My Tip for the Stage: K. Van Hummel. The Dutch rider hasn't shown much in the sprints so far, but I think today he will show what he can do when the line is in his sight.

16th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 3 (Saifat Ash Shiekh–Qurayy)
Boasson Hagen does it again in the sprint
Edvald Boasson Hagen showed today that he must be in the form of his life at the moment, with yet another victory into Qurayy.
The current race leader extended his lead with the bonus seconds won on the line, leaving reporters and journalists questioning whether anyone will be able to stop him taking the overall in 3 days time.
Another dominate performance from the whole team, who controlled the pace of the peleton from start to finish in a very commanding fashion. The 3 escapees on the day, BMC's Marcus Burghardt, ISD's Simon Clarke and Domenico Agosta of CDC-Cavaliere, were only allowed a maximum of 3'55" on the stage by Sky, and were caught just after the 25km to go banner.
From that point onwards, it was destined to yet again be a mass sprint finish, and with Boasson Hagen's current track record in mass sprints, the other teams tried their best to disrupt the Team Sky lead-out. For a while, the plan worked, with Boason Hagen and his lead-out Chris Sutton being boxed into the barriers, but Juan Antonio Flecha showed all his experience to help out and put his man back in the correct place.
But this was not the end for Team Sky, as a blustery finish straight took it out of the legs of Chris Sutton, and Boasson Hagen had to work that little bit harder to find the correct wheel for a lead-out. Gambling on his finish, he stayed on the wheel of Flecha, and Boasson Hagen reaped the rewards, taking his second stage of the Tour of Oman.
Win Number 2 for Edvald
Final Standings:

17th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 4 (Ibri–Nakhal)
Stage 4 is another flat stage across the Northern part of Oman, from Ibri to Nakhal. Under the clear skies and blazing sun, the riders will have to stay refreshed in order to keep up their energy for the possible sprint finish at the end.
Riders to Watch: E. Boasson Hagen, K. Van Hummel, L. Paolini, G. Van Avermaet
My Tip for the Stage: E. Boasson Hagen. Who else is there for the stage? Dominated the sprints in Qatar, he is carrying on in the same way with two so far this Tour.

17th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 4 (Ibri–Nakhal)
Van Hummel get his first win of the season in a close sprint
Skil-Shimano's Kenny Van Hummel took his first win of the season in a closely fought sprint into Nakhal. Acqua & Sapone's Luca Paolini came in second with Greg Van Avermaet in third. Race Leader Edvald Boasson Hagen came over the line in 23rd place, after a puncture in the last 5km destroyed his chances of a third win on the Tour.
With Team Sky out of the picture, Skil-Shimano finally showed what they could do, and Van Hummel finished off the magnificent work put in by the team at the finish.
Strong winds across the riders had everyone on tender hooks, and as a breakway of 11 riders formed, the peleton knew it would be in for a difficult day. With only riders from the minor teams getting in the break, there was still a lot of strength in the main pack, and as usual it was Team Sky working hard to make sure the gap was kept to a minimum.
The small group was allowed a maximum of 5'11" on the road, and as the 70km mark appear for the riders, the pace was upped. Many of the riders struggled with this, and soon a number of riders were thrown out the back.
The break was caught with 15km remaining, and Team Sky kept the pace up at the front, stopping anymore attacks. But disaster struck the team for a second stage, as Edvald Boasson Hagen suffered a puncture in the last 5 kilometres, and the Team Sky DS sacrificed the victory with Chris Sutton, and had the entire team bring Boasson Hagen back to the main group. As they did, other riders, who had been dropped off the back earlier, were dragged back to the lead group.
As Skil-Shimano hit the front, Acqua & Sapone went for a long sprint, and Paolini looked to have the victory, until Van Hummel showed the sort of form he showed last season when he was the UCI Europe Leader and multiple podium finishes.
Having finished safely in the pack, Boasson Hagen holds onto the Leader's Jersey, but his main sprint rivals have closed the gap with the bonus seconds on the line.
Van Hummel was too strong for everyone else today

18th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 5 (Wattayat–Sultan Qaboos Stadium)
Stage 5 is the final road stage of the Tour of Oman, ending back in Muscat, at the Sultan Qaboos Stadium, the national stadium of Oman.
Again, with the weather conditions playing a part, the riders must hope that it will be a calm day, and not too much energy is wasted before the ITT tomorrow.
Riders to Watch: L. Paolini, K. Van Hummel, E. Boasson Hagen, G. Van Avermaet.
My Tip for the Stage: K. Van Hummel. He took the stage yesterday, and he will be keen to make it two victories from two stages, but he will face competition from Boasson Hagen, who will be looking to make up for yesterday's problems, and also Paolini will be desperate to get a win after two 2nd places in a row.

18th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 5 (Wattayat–Sultan Qaboos Stadium)
De Waele throws a spanner in the works for Team Sky with lone win
UCI Europe Leader Bert De Waele took the victory and the Leaders Jersey today after an excellent solo victory at the National Stadium in Muscat. The Belgian rider broke away from his fellow escapees in the final 10km and never looked back.
The break formed after 12km of the stage, and with 6 riders getting clear of the peleton, with riders from BMC, Saur-Sojasun, Itera-Katusha and Landbouwkrediet all represented in the group. They slowly opened up a big lead over the peleton, and with 50km to go, there was still 6'25" gap between the lead group and the chasing pack. As the group neared the last 20km, the group broke up under countless attacks, and soon it was just 3 riders left out front. Behind, Team Sky and OmegaPharma had the peleton motoring along, and riders flying out the back as a result.
With 10km to go, De Waele made his move, attacking his other escapees over and over, until it was one attack too many for the others. From that point on, it was always going to be De Waele for the win, and the man who came 2nd overall at the Etoile de Bessèges earlier in the month thanks to a similar lone attack, is really showing some good form at the minute.
He crossed the line 57" ahead of the remaining breakaway riders from Itera-Katusha's Alexander Mironov and František Kloucek of PSK Whirlpool-Author.
Behind it was a straight chase to limit the amount of lost ahead of the Individual Time Trial tomorrow and Usov of ISD CT crossed the line in fourth 1'32" back, with Overall Leader Boasson Hagen just behind him in fifth
The victory results in a 1'08" lead over Edvald Boasson Hagen and 1'56" over OmegaPharma rider Leif Hoste, who both looked to be the main riders who can take the overall victory with the ITT to come tomorrow. The question that comes from today is can De Waele do enough to hold on?
He does not really have the same time trialling skills as Boasson Hagen and Hoste, but as this stage race has shown before, anything can happen, and I'm sure we will definitely see a surprise or two tomorrow.
The UCI Europe Leader salutes his victory

19th February 2010 - Tour of Oman Stage 6 ITT (Al Jissah – Muscat Corniche)
The Final stage of first ever Tour of Oman is a 26km ITT from Al Jissah to Muscat.
With the race still yet to be completely sawn up, anything can happen today, and time will tell is Bert De Waele has it in his legs to limit his losses on the Stage and keep hold of the Leaders Jersey.
Riders to Watch: E. Boasson Hagen, G. Thomas, L. Hoste, M. Burghardt
My Tip for the Stage: G. Thomas. The young Welsh Sky rider has been a key team-mate in the lead-out train so far, but I think today he will bring together all his TT experience to put himself into the limelight.

Geraint Thomas pulled together all his TT experience to take the stage win, ahead of team-mate Edvald Boasson Hagen and OmegaPharma Leif Hoste.
The young Welshman put in a great performance to take the win by 3" ahead of Boasson Hagen, lifting himself up to 3rd in the Overall Standings at the finish.
The 2nd place on the day for Boasson Hagen was enough to take the Overall Victory for the Norwegian, as Bert De Waele's gutsy performance just was not not enough, but can come away with some credit with an Overall Podium position. The rest of the Top 10 was dominated by Time Trialist with the final stage really mixing up the GC.
Thomas takes the plaudits on the podium

Team Reaction to the Race:
Again, what a fantastic result for the team. Another domination in the results table, with us coming out on top in every one of the standings. For the second race running we showed we have what it takes to win in the sprints, where Edvald was fantastic. Even a small change to the lead-out train did not effect the stage outcome with Edvald's sprinting.
Geraint was again brilliant in the lead-out. He went from second in line at Qatar to first here, and he showed he has the experience at a young age to lead from the front. He then took a great victory in the final ITT to grab a podium place overall, which is very promising for the future.
Overall, we were competitive and despite being a new team on the ProTour circuit, the team has gelled well, looking strong early in the season.

Thanks Really pleased with the victory with Thomas. He has been great in the lead-outs, so I knew he has good fitness. And the overall with EBH was looking a bit shaky after the stage 5 result. very pleasing results all round
