Definitely, Jim was incredibly intelligent, and he saw through all that jazz, must've been frustrating for him. That's what makes him so special, I think. If you can find out what's in his lyrics (and that ain't always easy), it's such a powerful message. A very special artist, very misunderstood.

Still Republicans have the control of the House of Presentitves, chich will be ''pain in the ass'' for Obama.
Republicans lost ground though, and they will continue to lose ground in the upcoming mid-term, especially if they continue with their shenanigans. They've all signed a ridiculous petition to not raise taxes ever under any circumstances, and the subsequent obstructionism bit them in the ass this time around. They won't be able to justify obstructionism next time, especially as the economy improves. They'll just look like pompous dicks.
Demographics are changing too. Hispanics are a larger and larger voting block. Dems have women, african americans, Hispanics... really the last big demographic for the Repubs is the white male vote, which is losing importance and homogeneity.
Now the question for them will be to decide whether they go more extremists and conservators, with an ideology close to the Tea Parties, or if they become more realist and moderate, like Romney was during the last part of his campaign (and was as a Governor).
I hope people realize the only reason Obama won is because he put everybody on welfare. USA citizens are more concerned about getting that welfare check then actually helping the economy. Because they are part of the problem themselves... For God sake look at how many good things Obama did for this country. Most of it was to limp the low/middle class along. But you can't just throw money at them... What does that teach them? Nothing! Oh what it makes them remember your name on election day bc they don't want Romney to take their money back. It's sick how lazy we have become that the majority of our Country cares more about "stuff" then the future of the economy. Because face it, the economy has not got better in the last 4 years (perhaps worse).
You may be asking why I'm I going on this rant? I'm 18.... I have to live through this future America. I'm usually conservative but when "change" never happens and I would argue the economy got worse, he doesn't deserve 4 more years.
And one last note: my vote didn't even matter since we got so many people that are concerned about keeping their welfare checks in Detroit.
Next 4 years are going to be terrible... Anyone that thinks otherwise will probably be ruining our economic system be receiving welfare checks
*Just my opinion, I really don't want to start a political war here considering everyone was so happy for Obama above. Just wanted Pedro to hear my thoughts on the matter *

Because they realize how bad these welfare checks are... they are reasonable people. They have received the most and see how much it is damaging our economy.
At least that's the argument I'm going with. I have no facts to back it up and don't have the time to look it up because it really doesn't matter anymore. Obama is our President and we have to limp through another 4 years on his policies and hope for the best. And for my sake I hope he completes his *change because right now mine (and America's future) looks like a big black hole.
Got a strange feeling that 50 years from now there will be no USA. And it won't matter who we elect either way. We are crumbling to the ground. Is England any good? I might need to get on a boat.

You do realise the USA has had a consistent reduction in unemployment rate for around 2 years, and steady economic growth since 2009 (GDP is now way above even 2008 levels)? In the context of just how monumentally big the financial crisis was, and in comparison to similar countries, the American recovery has been pretty good, and all indicators suggest this shall copntinue

Ever heard that tale of the fishman who quietly fishes and gets a capitalist talking to him ? Google it if you haven't.
What's the point of economy anyway ? Or what should people look for in their life ?
The answer is quite simple : people want to be happy. Economy (money) is just a mean for that.
Besides, all that communist welfare state of yours would be considered centre-right if not a plain right policy in most of the rest of the Western world...

I think the welfare argument, on the republicans side, is idiotic. Partially because, as was noted, Red states tend to be the leaches (I'm a Californian, and we pay out more than we get back). And also because I actually know people who have been on welfare. Interestingly, of the 9 nuclear units in my family(my parents generation), 2 are conservative, and one of those conservative units has been on welfare(unemployment insurance, food stamps, housing assistance, and an extra subsidy to help pay for my cousins education, who has autism). That one conservative unit is the only unit to have received "welfare." All the other people who I know to be on food stamps receive those food stamps even though they have a job. I don't know if you've ever had a job, but if you worked 40 hours a week, 52 weeks out of the year at minimum wage ($8/hour) you'd make under $17,000 a year. It's pretty difficult to live on that little money. That is well below the poverty line, in the US. People who receive food stamps don't want to be on food stamps. They'd much rather live a cushy life like you me. I had a job when I was 15. Fortuitously I also have parents who make middle income wages. I would not be at a top tier public educational institution if it wasn't for my parents.
In reality we all receive welfare. Roads are a form of welfare. State education is a form of welfare, oil is as cheap as it is because it is subsidized. Michigan's economy is dependent upon the auto industry, which was saved from the brink by the Obama administration. If the auto industry collapsed, the rest of Michigan's economy would have gone with it. Technically, the entire state of Michigan are welfare queens. Even the clothes on you back are made of subsidized cotton.
It seems we only whine about welfare when it's poor people who are getting the help.

You know, the reasonable people of which 31% think Obama is a Muslim
