Pity? You should know better than to ask pity from me Pfft
Anyway, Matt won his race, so he shouldn't complain Grin

Now seriously, with Ardennes, Matt will be more focused on what's coming up and see Trondheim as a good training for the Ardennes Cross, I reckon Wink

Thanks, shonak!

This is my way of saying sorry for the short "report" from Sochi. Hope you like this report better Wink

Well apology declined. You better give me a real apology in the Ardennes. Either that or sleep with one eye open.

Spoiler
Pfft (but I still want that apology you promised)

24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Tronheim is officially my favourite race on the calendar (not biased at all) but in Sylvain's it isn't anywhere near. Pfft

I love how he crashed, then attacked a lap later, mustn't of been a bad crash. Wink

Now, Arenberg. Grin

Ian Butler
First, Ardennes Wink
And, yes, the crashes on ice are very frequent but usually not very harming, it's not downhill or something.
Can't mention them all but I think just about everyone went down at least once Wink

trekbmc
I never get the hang of those names, Arenberg, Ardennes, there are a few other ones in the area as well. Pfft

Now, Ardennes. Wink

Ian Butler
Yes! Very motivated for that race. Though I'm happy Trondheim is a personal favorite of yours Grin

I'm happy to see the end of the season approaching. When I started this, it was an ambitious plan. I have always tried to keep the quality high. At some times, that's worked out better than other times, but I'm very happy with what the game has become.

I hope to keep the same active players for season 2 and let them all develop even further, as well as a handful of new active players to add even more depth to the game!

See you later for Ardennes Wink Though I might throw in another Piece of History before the report!

My opinion of Trondheim is not biased in any way. Wink

I think your plan worked very well for this, as the quality is pretty amazing. Smile I don't think I need to clarify that I'll be back next season. Grin

And there will be an update from Sylvain later today.

Ian Butler
Well, I went in a different direction with this Piece of History. I'm quite proud of it, hope you like it! Wink

That's a very impressive piece, although quite sad with the death of a young rider.

Also, I was just wondering how transfers were run, do we/the riders decide, or do you, or is it your decision with input from us/the riders?

Ian Butler
Thanks, trek!

Well, you control your riders, so mostly it's up to you.
However, I shake things up here and there. I make some transfers with inactive players, but I might also shake things up with a team with active riders. For example; if Cook, Vague and Lipawsky would join the same team, I would take matter into hands and make sure it can't go through, the team has too many leaders and probably can't afford them all.

So I leave it up to you. Those who aren't active or not interested at all where their rider ends up, I will do.

I think that's the best system for this game.

trekbmc
Yeah, ok, I figured it would run something like that. Once the transfers start to come through though, can we get updates about inactive riders and team info to help with working out where our riders are going?

Ian Butler
Definitely. I'll be providing the information as organised as I can. Not sure 100% how I'll do everything, but I'll come up with a way Smile
Not sure if I'll do transfers first and then new players or vice versa, though...

matt17br
Never noticed Bollinger was so succesful until today, wow Shock
I need to hurry up sending my tactics cause I don't want to see Matt fuckin' up the best cross of all, though when he won in the Flanders I didn't send in anything Rolling Eyes
Also loved that piece of history, always interesting to read they are Smile

With only 3 races left, I'll be preparing the next season slowly. I'm contacting some members, hoping they'll join. I'm also looking over the teams, riders and races to see what I'll adjust. I'm really close to having overlapping races next season, but I'm not entirely sure yet how managable that'll be. They'll come at shorter reports, but then I hope they're worth having...

I'm asking around to see if there is interest for joining in season 2. For those interested, here are a few pieces of active players stating how time-consuming this is for them. (full text coming up when sign-ups open, with their opinion on the game)

When I play it takes me 10-15 minutes for each rider update, maybe 7-8 minutes if I write a short one, it take about 5-10 minutes for tactics and at least 10 minutes of other stuff, but more if you're more active. Although, it's all fun (trekbmc)

Overall this might only take you half an hour a week, or a few hours, but what you put in is what you get out, all the time is worth it. The world, it's seems real. It's amazing. (jandal7)

Reading a preview takes roughly 1-2 minutes, reading a race between 5-10 minutes (including re-reading certain paragraphs for interviews later or because they are so fantastically written). Sometimes longer when the report is really long and detailed. Writing something is between 10 to 20 minutes, up to half an hour. (Shonak)

The best part is that is not even time consuming. 10 minuts of average a day are enough to follow it closely and 20 when i write a blog post (matt17br)

And for those interested, the preperations for Season 2 have officially begun! I started a 2nd Excel file, this time for Season 2.

First job: import riders to most likely be part of season 2, in order of their UCI number. Already at 19 Pfft
Here is a small look behind the screens (though I did cut off the stats, hehe)

Will do, thanks for offering help!
One thing I can say for sure is that I'll need a second African race, besides Struibaai. And preferably within distance of Struibaai, too, so they can be combined into a weekend!
