For the same reason it would be bad for Paris - Roubaix to finish right after the Arenberg.

Say goodbye to the Galibier because it will most likely be cancelled due to snow. Good punishment for using such a legendary mountain pass as MTF.
I like it as a MTF but I get why you wouldn't. But that's really sad, I've been looking forward to that stage since they announced it. It is my favourite climb in the world and combining it with my favourite stage race was just amazing.

That was about to happen too in the 2011 Tour and it didn't. Let's wait a little bit |

That example makes no sense to me....
There are better mountains to use, but the Galibier is hardly a bad one. It does not suit an explosive race, but the grinds can be just as exciting. And i think the stage is a really good one as they go up the tougher Telegraph side as well, which just begs for a big GC do or die move!

Quite important aswell is that the riders won't finish at that height then and only go over 2000 on Cenis.
Vinokourov should stand a chance then
Plus traguardo volante needs to be replaced. Hope it's near the top of Telegraphe

I can't see on my phone but his nickname is the honey badger isn't it?
Great win for Nav. Think he's got lots of potential.

Meh don't really care. It was expected that it would be cancelled, just as the danger is there for the Gavia and Stelvio.
And mostly don't really care because most mountain finishes in this Giro aren't nearly selective enough, and that is(was?) one of them. That route is like the stage to Val Martello: waste of a stage.

Btw, How on earth will they get to Val Martello if they can't do the Stelvio?

I read somewhere that, organizers have been using explosives to blow up snow. And that route will not change. Last year we saw it at ?Stelvio, there was thick snow on side of road.
Having said that there is every possibility of it snowing again on cleared area due to cold weather. |

They've been dynamiting all over the Alps for a while now clearing roads following the prolonged winter.
Usually i would be surprised if they couldn't clear them in time, but due to that long winter its trickier than usual.

Here I was expecting to see the recap on Eurosport of todays stage, only to find out that they have for some reason decided to show Tour of Cali before the Giro today...
... it's still 74km to go of todays Cali-stage and the time is 23.05! Woopdy-fuckin'-do!

Seriously? The italians use dynamite to get rid of snow?! And here I am using a shovel like some kind of a sucker! Well, guess who just saved himself a lot of work next winter!

If that's true, he's actually doing quite well (no reason for his bad descending though, but I mean his form level) |
