Btw: When can we expect the last stage of Romandie?
Thursday at the very very latest - I'm having problems with my computer accessing internet at the hotel I'm staying at the moment so I'm able to keep track of things via my iPod but I can't upload the report at the moment
TOUR DE ROMANDIE
Stage 6: La Chaux-de-Fonds - Saignelégier
After yesterday's stage (trust me it was only yesterday...) we head north to La Chaux-de-Fonds, and then, rather like the penultimate stage of this year's Tour de France [irl] go out on a wide loop before finishing at the next-door town of Saignelégier, with an uphill finish that flattens out towards the end. First place overall is still up for grabs, and the last few top 10 places are still anyone's at this late stage.
It's a miserable day today with the rain bucketing down but that doesn't stop Jesse Sergent (HAI) from attacking
Several others try their hand: Peter Kennaugh (HAI), Andre Cardoso (PGR), and Marcel Wyss (MCS). However the peloton are reluctant to let them go.
There is some considerable faffing about, with other people attacking, and a high pace being set on the lower slopes of the 1st category Mont Crosin; but eventually it looks like a break has got away. Alex Cano Ardila, the KoM jersey wearer, has made it - looking to secure that jersey for his team CC Café - along with Sergio Paulinho (DOM) and Marco Pinotti (TUG). Others are trying to bridge the gap, we’ll have to wait a bit to see if they succeed.
Cano Ardila leads the group over the top with Pirazzi (NAC), who has just made it into the group, in 2nd place. They have a minute’s lead over the pack
After constant attacking, TAP-Michelin finally relent at the front and 10 riders come together. The newcomers are: Di Gregorio (SGM), Anacona (CAT), Zaballa (ING), Chavez (ITV), Herrada (MAG), and Barta (IOQ). Best placed is Anacona, 27th and 6 minutes behind, and Herrada and Barta also have a few mountain points and are not far behind Cano Ardila in that competition
We have a faller! Domenico Pozzovivo has taken the wrong angle through that sharp corner in the descent and has taken a tumble. Hopefully he is all right.
TAP still aren't happy, and with Marcato and Ghyselinck doing huge relays at the front, they pull the break back in again, leaving Herrada, Anacona and Cano Ardila to venture forth again.
Pirazzi counters and flies straight past them, in the blink of an eye he has a two minute advantage to the peloton!
He is soon caught and it's Herrada who attacks to take the points at the top of the 2nd category Cote de la Roche
Herrada attacks on the steep slopes of the next climb and takes maximum points once again, only Cano Ardila contested it out of the rest of the break, which has inflated in size with the belated addition of Moyano (AGT). Lead is up to 5 minutes
The next climb is a particularly steep 1st category and once again Herrada prevails over Cano Ardila, despite being a significantly less well-known climber - he’s now just 9 points behind. After all their efforts earlier in the day, you might have thought that TAP would be chasing hard, but they seem to have given up! The lead is out to 8 minutes with 60km to go.
Moyano leads the break through the intermediate sprint in Courgenay shortly afterwards, and the gap keeps climbing - 10 minutes now!
We're now at the top of the 2nd category Cote de Villars. Herrada once again takes maximum points over the top with Cano Ardila in second. This constant climbing and descending must be beginning to hurt the riders' legs now, especially in the breakaway; which is currently maintaining its 10 minute lead - 45km to go.
A scenic vista of the penultimate climb of the day - it’s more interesting than what's happening in the peloton at the moment, that’s for sure. The gap is over 12 minutes now and none of the favourites look remotely interested in attacking yet.
Action! Cano Ardila attacks near the top of the climb as usual, but Pirazzi follows - perhaps this is a bit more of an aggressive move. The mountain sprint is won by Herrada, again.
It wasn’t quite enough to shake off Anacona and Moyano, though, they came back on the false flat that follows the climb
Anacona leads the break through the intermediate sprint and the gap has gone down, but only to 11 minutes
Someone attacks! Two people in fact - Ruiter (ING) looks to cement his top 10 position, whilst Sanchez (ABC) is looking for those all-important 17 seconds over Zoltan
We have a counter from Hoogenboom (ITV), Sanchez's teammate Scarponi, and Kreuziger (NAC). The pace has suddenly gone from ‘snail’ to ‘cheetah’ so to speak, and the gap has rocketed down to 5 and a half minutes between the pack and the break, just 8km to go for them though
Speaking of which, they are now on the lower slopes of the final climb
Pirazzi powers away, looking for the stage win and Moyano is the only one who tries to follow him. The other three look like they are playing the waiting game. Meanwhile the Sanchez group has 40 seconds over the peloton
Froome, Zoltan and Geisinger try and succeed in bridging the gap to the small group ahead, but this only serves as an incentive for Hoogenboom and Ruiter to try another move
This results in everyone bringing everyone else back together, but Ruiter manages to escape with a cheeky little move. Kreuziger looks to try and get on his wheel, but can’t quite manage it.
Meanwhile up front, Pirazzi has been caught by the trio, who have dropped Moyano seemingly for good
The break is into the last 2km but they are only 1'30 ahead of Ruiter - it's going to be quite close! Ruiter has opened up quite a gap on the chasers behind though, about 30 seconds.
The mad dash for the line starts and Ruiter is caught initially by Hesjedal. Up front, Anacona has opened up a little gap on the rest of the break
Winner Anacona celebrates a stage win, a great result for his team Caterham-Austar! He managed to open up quite a gap on the chasers in the final sprint, he was obviously the one with the most left in the tank
Herrada gets second, with Cano Ardila third, and Pirazzi fourth, but the trio are just a few feet ahead of the pack which is all together now, it doesn't look as though there are any time gaps today unfortunately, although a small split did occur in the middle of the pack, probably not long enough though.
...
...
...
Hang on, what's this - the officials have decided there's a gap, and it's more than 17 seconds? We know that Zoltan was in the second half, but where was Sánchez?

Special award sponsored by Ikea wooden spoons
...goes to Lunar Industries, for bringing a worse squad than all the other teams who are managerless and thus had their six weakest riders, and subsequently contributing absolutely nothing to the race
That's it from us in Switzerland, now go off and enjoy the Giro, which should be round the corner!

Thanks for some great reports (even though Froome didn't do as well as hoped). Would it be possible to get the full rankings for points, mountains etc as I'm using them in my HQ?
