After an action-packed day yesterday, today will seem a little more sedate, but it will surely see changes amongst the top 10 of the general classification. From the finish in Leysin yesterday, we have moved further south to Martigny, for a Mountain Time Trial that will first take us along the road to Verbier, scene of a stage in the 2009 Tour de France, before turning off to the narrow roads of the steep Col du Lein. This 13.1 km climb averages 7.2%, ramping up to almost 11% near the finish.

We join the action with about 70 riders through at the summit, the best time having been set by former Italian ITT champion Luca Ascani (FWB) in a time of 54'31, more than half a minute faster than his nearest rival, Alfredo Balloni (LPU)
Gauging by the performances of the riders that have been up the course so far, it is apparent that it is very difficult to predict a good ride as the rouleurs are setting great times at the first check, but struggling by the time they reach the top of this imposing col; whereas the climbers are the other way round.
The best time at the intermediate check has fallen to Aitor Hernandez (SGM) (seen here just about to overtake his team-mate Mathias Belka); however he's not a great climber and he finishes 40 seconds behind Ascani at the top
A new best time has been set by Serge Pauwels (ING). He’s not a noted time-triallist, so this will bode well for his team-mate Mathijs Ruiter.
Cameron Meyer (LPU) is another time-triallist to set the new best time at the intermediate check. Despite being a decent climber, he loses a chunk of time in the second half of the stage to finish provisional 7th.
Richie Porte (BAR) is having a disappointing Tour of Romandie here - he is 26th overall at the minute but he'll be looking to move up a few places with a good TT today. He puts in a decent performance but it's nothing special.
The best time has now fallen to Johann Tschopp (MCS), who knocks 5 seconds off Pauwels' time.
It's time for Mathijs Ruiter (ING) to set off - if we can predict anything today, it will be that Ruiter will be slow over the first half of the course, but quick over the second.
A look at the provisional leaderboard with 20 riders to set off, and 60 or so to finish. A good ride from Sergio Paulinho has put himself into provisional 2nd at the moment.
Marco Pinotti (TUG) demolishes the intermediate time, but how will he fare up the col?
He is swiftly followed by Ruiter who is… provisional 11th! A great performance from him!
Jens Voigt (SGM) goes 24 seconds faster than Tschopp at the top with an imposing time of 53'49
Fabian Cancellara is on a mission to retain his top 10 place. He will no doubt be rapid over the flatt[er] sections of the course, but how will he fare over the mountain?
Chris Froome looks pensive in the starthouse. He had a poor day yesterday, and is looking to make amends today.
Sammy Sanchez is within touching distance of Jakab Zoltan in the overall standings, but he needs a very good ride today if he is to unseat the mighty Hungarian from his throne
Zoltan is off with Sanchez in his sights!
Meanwhile Andreas Kloden (SGM) eclipses Pinotti at the time-check by a mere 9 seconds, and he is closely followed by the Nintendo pairing of Menchov and Kreuziger.
Guess who? After his teammate Geisinger marginally betters Kloden’s time at the intermediate; Spartacus powers through 26 seconds faster. This proves to be faster than all the other contenders, Zoltan included.
Meanwhile up front, Ruiter dominates the field on the climb and sets a remarkable new best time, 57 seconds faster than Thomas Voeckler who had previously dethroned Voigt. He was so fast that even the cameras missed him!
Here's what the first time-check looks like with all riders through - a super effort from Zoltan to keep up with the Swiss machine.
Here's what it looks like at the finish at the moment, most of the pseudo-favourites like Pozzovivo and Ten Dam are saving their energy for the last part of the course and continually peppering the leaderboard.
Michele Scarponi (ABC) is having a great ride today, after being a bit sluggish in the first half he's powered up the climb and almost overtaken Vinokourov (BAR). He is provisional 2nd, 11 seconds behind the Flying Dutchman.
In a close battle, Roman Kreuziger defeats his team-mate Denis Menchov by 1 second to move into provisional 4th. He is looking for 3 seconds on Fuglsang or Rogers to move into the top 10
Fuglsang is a minute down on Ruiter at the finish, so he will drop out of the top 10 for now.
The other man with the rainbow bands has been doing extremely well today, but what about this one, Rogers (DOM)?
He doesn’t have a great day and finishes 15 seconds behind Kreuziger, meaning he will probably lose his top 5 place too.
Jakob Geisinger is the home favourite for this race and a lot of pressure is being put on him to do well in this race. But do well, he does! He's 1 second faster than Ruiter and moves into the provisional lead!
Cancellara, astonishingly, has survived the mountains for a second day in a row! He is provisional 5th, 30 seconds slower than his team-mate but faster than Rogers, Fuglsang and Kreuziger, the riders who were eying up his spot in the GC before today.
Chris Froome has put a bad day yesterday behind him to set the new best time! 23 seconds faster than Geisinger!
Wesley Hoogenboom struggled over the first part of the course, and doesn't quite have the pace uphill either, he loses almost 2 minutes to Froome, meaning he will drop down a few places for sure.
Ryder Hesjedal (BAR) has snuck into third in the GC without doing anything spectacular, and with another solid ride today that puts him in provisional 5th, he is assured not to drop down any places
As Sanchez comes up to the line the snow starts to fall. Who out of the top 2 will keep their cool the most? (sorry couldn't resist)
Sanchez lays down an emphatic marker - the provisional time falls again! By 17 seconds, too! Zoltan will have to dig deep to claim this one
Zoltan is round the last bend, he looks tired, but he's just two seconds faster! A great performance from Zoltan, as he takes his second stage win in a row, but that gap is just 16 seconds between him and the Spaniard, with two difficult hilly days ahead anything can happen!

Not quite the shake-up we might have imagined at the start of the day but still a few places changing hands, most notably Froome replacing Hoogenboom in fourth position.

The race organisers, for some reason, decided not to award any points at all for this stage, so both the points classification and the mountain classification stay the same.
Points: Francisco José Ventoso
Mountain: Álex Cano Ardila

But a shame for Rogers
Ah thanks not sure how that happened
@Jesleyh: The full general classification was only in the second one I posted, so it's there now, having deleted the first one. He's 11th, only 1 second behind Menchov
Darn it, Gonzalez got his ass kicked in Tirreno, while Zoltan is so strong here. I thought they should have similar results cause their stats are quite alike.

TOUR DE ROMANDIE
Stage 5: Montreux - Saint-Sulpice
Today's tricky, hilly stage starts in the town of Montreux, the eastern point of Lake Geneva; about 30km north of yesterday's finish atop the Col du Lein. We have three difficult first category climbs on the menu today, with some rolling terrain in between.
A break should probably be considered the favourite today, given that most of the riders will be saving some energy for a difficult final stage.
With the steep 1st category climb of the Col de Jaman coming almost straight from the gun, there are bound to be some early attackers. Bartosz Huzarski (IOQ) is the first; he is followed by Francesco Failli (FWB). TAP are controlling the pace but let these two get out front as no one else dares chase.
Just as everything looks to be settling down, we have some more attackers. Soler (CCC) is there trying to protect the mountain jersey for his teammate Cano Ardila, we also have Chadwick (PGR) and de la Fuente (ITV), the two men who, after initially being there, missed the break on stage 3. Tagging along behind is Kadri (NAC)
Following behind them are de Maar (TLI) and Tankink (ING). TAP don’t seem that worried about all the escapees, they’re happy to set a consistent tempo on the front of the bunch
We reach the top of this brutal climb, and Failli goes through first, unchallenged by Huzarski. The other escapees have formed a 6-man group and they trail by just 30 seconds, with 2'30 separating them and the peloton
On the descent all the breakaway riders come together. Best placed out of these is Kadri, who is more than 11 minutes down on Zoltan in 36th place. Nevertheless, TAP don’t seem that happy and a high pace is kept, resulting in a split of the peloton as they go over the top of the climb. No big names are caught out, though.
As we wind our way through the Romandie hills, there's a chance to look at some beautiful vistas of Lake Geneva. The gap to the 8-man break has grown to 4 minutes now, with the pace being a little less.
Unfortunately, soon after this our television helicopter suffered a freak engine blowout, putting it out of service. By the time we could land it, repair the engine, and get it back in the air, 70km of the race had elapsed.
A short summary, elaborated on information taken from the team’s twitter feeds:
The break have been relaying hard and kept a very hard pace at the front. After setting for the first 50km or so, TAP-Michelin dropped back to the middle of the pack and no one seemed willing to take up the chase. The gap grew to 13 minutes at one point, before TAP woke up and realised their yellow jersey was under threat from Kadri. Francesco Failli (FWB) has led the break over all the climbs and sprint points so far.
We also had an abandon, Luca Solari (MCS) crashed heavily on the descent and that was enough to sadly end his race, the only abandon so far.
As the break start the final climb, the Col de Mauborget (DATA), the gap to the 8 leaders is 11'50 with just 31km to go, the chasers really need to get their skates/wheels on.
An overview of the Col de Mauborget
Green jersey Ventoso (CCC) is shelled as TAP finally start setting a serious pace, the peloton is down to 90 riders now
Action at last! The first signs of animation for about 150km! Failli attacks but none of the other members of the break seem particularly keen to join him.
Juan Mauricio Soler reels him in but not before he's had time to claim maximum points at the top. The gap now is still extortionately high at 10 minutes exactly - just 24km remain! Despite being first over all 3 climbs, it’s not enough to hoist Failli above Cano Ardila in the mountain standings, he’s 2 points behind
Meanwhile, a long way further down the climb, there's some more signs of life! Mathijs Ruiter (ING) initiates a move and his compatriot Wesley Hoogenboom (ITV) is only to happy to jump onto his wheel. The Barry’s pairing of Rujano and Hesjedal also hitch a ride.
Nearly all the other favourites see this as a very dangerous move and immediately counter to join an elite group of 10. Sammy Sanchez is the only top-5 rider not to be here, and he’s desparately trying to join the group.

Ruiter leads the group, now with Sanchez included, over the top 8'22 after the break
Meanwhile, 6km up the road, de la Fuente and Soler have attacked their companions.
After catching the leading group, Sanchez uses his superb descending skills to fly past all of them, with even Cancellara barely able to accelerate in response
We hear over race radio that Kloden (SGM) and Rogers (DOM) are in between the leading group and the peloton, the gap between these two groups is now over 4 minutes. The big loser today looks to be Denis Menchov (NAC), 10th in the GC currently, he will slip down at least a couple of places.
As the break goes under the 10km banner, Soler has dropped back but de la Fuente is still out up front, desparate to hang on. The gap down to the favourites group has fallen sharply, it’s now down to just over 6 minutes.
Just 5km to go for de la Fuente, it looks like he might make it with a 30 second gap to the other 7 riders. Meanwhile Sanchez is still hanging off the front of the favourites group by about 30 seconds
Indeed he does. De la Fuente has all the time in the world to celebrate a magnificent stage win for him and his ITV team!
Kadri wins the sprint ahead of Tankink for 2nd place a few seconds later.
Meanwhile Sanchez is now under the 5k to go banner and his gap is not diminishing! He could well overtake Zoltan by the end of the day! What a shock that would be!
Under the Flamme Rouge and he's still out in front but the pack are gaining fast! Is he going to get the 17 seconds he needs?
No he's not! In fact he's just overtaken on the line by Ruiter and Hoogenboom so doesn't get any seconds at all. The rest of the field is quite a long way back, with a few riders in ones and twos looking to maintain a good GC position scattered across the road all at least two minutes behind this group

General Classification
Kadri and Soler move into unlikely top 15 positions, but they didn't manage to get into the top 10. Only change up there is that Menchov drops down to 16th, and is replaced at 10th by Ruiter.
