Double Feature | THE END
Ian Butler
PCM rulezz - Thanks! Most beautiful victory so far Grin

Ollfardh - Boonen will hurry to get them back, now Pfft

Marcovdw - Oops, thanks for telling, corrected! Wink

Atlantius - Well, I guess that's for next year! At least he probably earned a ticket for the World Championships!

Jesleyh - Degenkolb is doing pretty good, he won a stage in Tour de Suisse. His contract ends in 2014 or 2015 and I don't think he'll leave earlier. With Kittel leaving, he's the n°1 sprinter on the team, so he'll take that opportunity Wink

Corrected the Dutch and French riders Pfft I have nothing to do with Shoemaker, he's just a neopro attacker who probably won with a late attack or something Pfft I'm thinking of signing him, though Grin

JuanMotr - Thanks a lot! He'll need that banana to regain some energy from that tiresome sprint Pfft

Yay, Stijn is the National Champion

Pity Willy missed out on the TT by just 37s Frown

Stromeon
Yes Stijn! Great way to become the national champion, by beating Boonen in a flat-out sprint!
To the Tour we go! Grin

Tour de France 2013 - Prologue

Welcome to the 100th edition of the Tour de France!

The tour is an amazing thing. You can't imagine it, it has a life of its own. It's just so huge and exciting. For both of us it's our first Grand Tour, and we're both so happy to be here. It's a dream coming true. Who hasn't dreamed of participating in the Tour when he was 10 and riding some local tours with your mates? Finally that moment has come. The prime of the cycling world is here, let's see who's here! Marcel Kittel is not, he already said goodbye to cycling, saying that finishing with a beautiful victory in a championship is the best way to say goodbye. As a result, Veelers and Van Gent will both be sprinters. Depending on the conditions and the (daily) form, one will help the other in the finale.

Prologue

Let's get this race starting!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/tour101_zpsfab5cfd5.jpg

An 8 km long prologue in Porto Vecchio. We don't expect big gaps in the GC, but ever second counts! And, don't forget, the winner here will wear the prestigious Yellow Jersey!

Stijn Van Gent

Too bad I couldn't wear my new jersey today!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/tour102_zpsc5c96a25.jpg

Riding in the Tour is very special and the audience is fantastic. Tomorrow is my first race in my brand new Belgian Jersey! I'll share a sprinter role with Veelers, much depending on how we feel. That's an advantage, we can chose who'll sprint! We're both not as fast as Cavendish, but we can sprint a top 5 with good legs!

Willy Wouters

This could've been my jersey! Unfortunately it's De Gendt's.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/tour103_zps63566ed6.jpg

My time will come, I'm focusing 100% on the Tour now. I ride a pretty decent prologue!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/tour104_zps559cfbce.jpg

World Champion Time Trialing and favorite for the overall win Alberto Contador drew quite a crowd. He hopes to make history by winning the 100th edition of the Tour!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/tour105_zps97ba082e.jpg

He doesn't win this prologue, though. Chavanel will be the first to wear the Yellow Jersey!

My first day here and I can go on the podium directly, to receive the Young Jersey!

hmmm, i assume the spoiler button was broken Pfft

I pop in and out of this from time to time.
It is a massive improvement on all (yes all) of your previous stories. Just the extra little personal and general world touches make it much more engaging and believable.
Plus you have a great style of reporting so the races are a pleasure to read.

Not much to say, just that this is a great story

oh yeah, i bet they are both all 85's as well

dienblad - Thanks! It's a jersey he'll wear with a lot of pleasure!

PCM rulezz - Chavanel must be real happy, I reckon Smile Costa will come around, prologues aren't his specialty, but he can climb!

SSJ2Luigi - I'm glad my story showed you everything there was to see, I truly have opened your eyes now, haven't I? Pfft

Stromeon - It'd be an amazing achievement for his first Tour! But then again, Sagan won stages and the Green Jersey in his first Tour, so why couldn't Willy take the White Jersey home? Wink

Ollfardh - We'll have to see about that Smile But Geniez is here in the first time to help Costa. He will only need Willy later, I think.

Jakstar22 - Thanks, hope for a stage win. Without Kittel, it'll be hard, though!

TheManxMissile - Thanks a lot for the kind words! I also think it's my best story so far, with motivation still as high as when I started! However, I'll try to improve even more! Thanks for commenting Wink
And of course, 85 all around! Pfft

sutty68 - Indeed, it's great news. I wonder where he'll be in 3 weeks!

krisa - Hope you can catch up quickly Wink If you want a small summarize, you can check the first post of this thread, I occasionally update both of their palmares there! So you can see Stijn's results in the classics. Smile

Writing stories is periodically. There are times when motivation is low and there are times when motivation just goes through the roof. Right now, I'm in the second period! So I'll probably race 2 stages today. One in a moment and the other tonight!

Lets hope that in three weeks time he is somewhere near the top ten on the GC and challenging for honours Wink

PS - Whilst still wearing the Young rider jersey obviously Smile

sutty68 - If he could achieve that, it'd be amazing Grin

Bad news: Stijn's National Jersey doesn't look to good (to me). I asked FroomeDog to create a new jersey for him, so I'll have to wait for the jersey to continue this Tour! Hope it can be made fairly soon.

For those interested: the shirt was just the Argos shirt but with three stripes around it, like the World Champion Jersey. I want a jersey that's fully colored in the Belgian colors, like this:

Sorry for the waiting, but I want to see him in no other jersey Pfft
