Very good story, though, their stats must be really high as they had great results in their second year of pro cycling, bit unrealistic but hey, who cares?

Why should it be unrealistic? Take Peter Sagan as example, he won 3 Stages at the Vuelta in his second year as a professional, in his third year, he won the green jersey at Le Tour
Once every decade, there is such a great Talent like Sagan or Stjin in this story

Dwars Door Vlaanderen
I got my first win here last year, let's hope I can do that over again.
A big breakaway today, we had no man in it, which meant chasing.
When they were reeled in and we still had 30km to go, I didn't want to leave it up to chance, I decided to act and earn my first win!
Unfortunately they quickly got organized and those are not legs I won Paris - Roubaix with last year, I can tell you that. 8km before the finish I got reeled in.
Just as I settled myself in Roelandts' wheel for the sprint, a couple of riders decided to attack. I did not follow. The pace we'd make for the sprint would suffice to get them back.
But I was wrong. Congratulations to Wynants for this beautiful win.
However, there's always a silving lining, and this is mine:
At least I won the sprint for the 6th place by a very large distance.
Result
1 | Maarten Wynants | Landbouwkrediet-Euphony | 4h55'32 | | 2 | Martijn Maaskant | Garmin - SplitSe | s.t. | | 3 | Sébastien Turgot | Team Europcar | + 32 | | 4 | Tomas Vaitkus | An Post - Sean Kelly | s.t. | | 5 | Jelle Wallays | Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator | s.t. | | 6 | Stijn Van Gent | Lotto-Belisol | + 1'26 | IanButler | 7 | Sébastien Rosseler | Garmin - SplitSe | + 1'48 | | 8 | Jürgen Roelandts | Lotto-Belisol | s.t. | IanButler | 9 | Kristof Goddaert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | | 10 | Geraint Thomas | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | |
Am I ready for the Big Four? That's hard to know. My results aren't that bad, but I've had a few mental blows in the last few races. We'll see in a couple of days, let's hope I can build up the last few percentages I need for a nice win! |

Unlucky result. On the other hand you rode very active and soon deserve your win.
And it seemed to be a really great race to play. Quite realistic. |

@roturn: Thanks
@JuanMotr: Indeed, it probably did him good to give everything once more before E3

E3 - Harelbeke
I'll be here defending a title, just like in Dwars Door Vlaanderen. Let's hope I did a better job today.
BMC was showing once again that they are not to be tampered with. They ripped the peloton to pieces.
It was a group of nine that were heading towards the finish in the end. Luckily, I was part of it!
Then the sprint was off, I was in Boonen's wheel.
I pushed myself to the limits, and it was working!
And I finished it off! This victory tastes extra sweet. The relief I felt when crossing the finishing line is inexplicable.

Seeing who's next to me on the podium makes this victory even more beautiful. This gives me just the boost I needed to make this another successful year!
See you in Gent for Gent - Wevelgem!

Gent - Wevelgem
I successfully defended my last win (E3), and I'm here to do no less. This may be my most successful WT race, as I've never done worse than podium here! In my debut year I was 3rd, last year I won.
Again it was BMC making the pace. Omega Pharma - Quickstep helped.
I was having a rough time on the hills.
With 24km left to go, the pack was reduced to only 7 riders. We all took turns to keep off other strong riders as Nuyens, Burghardt, Chavanel...
Cancellara wouldn't risk another sprint so he attacked with 8km left to go.
Only 2 were able to react: Boonen and myself. We chased him hard.
But Spartacus was unbeatable today and takes this win. Unfortunately I have to say he deserved it much more than me today.
The hard race had left me tired and Boonen took revenge for the lost sprint in E3.
Well, the same podium as in the E3 - prijs, but reversed.

I can't say this was a bad day. I'm 3rd here once again, and that's not too bad. This year it's quite obvious who are the main characters in the cobbled races. I'm starting to think the four cobbled races all may have the three of us right there on the podium. The only question that remains is: who will be standing in the middle?
I expect a hard RvV, and I have the luxury that it's the only cobbled classic I haven't won yet in my young career. I will give it my all to get that win there, yet I still am a bit weak on the hills.
See you there!

Great win in E3.
And another podium in Gent-Wevelgem. Unlucky you couldn`t beat them there again.
Now really looking forward for RVV and PR. Good luck. |
