Why would you need to view the avatar in a new tab though? It's not like you can see a larger version than the one that is on the site.

Anyways, nice to see that someone noticed the way I edit (most of) my posts. I always have something else to add, something to correct etc. and that's the main reason you'll see "Edited" below my posts most of the time.
