TheManxMissile - Glad to hear you're reading it from start to finish, at least what is the finish right now. Henry wasn't too strong to start with. Development was even on 0.2, but Henry developed quite fast so I think his personal development was just too high (may have to do with potential 8).
But in the end, it doesn't bother me at all now. Winning the Tour at 24 is not unique. World Champion at 24 is far from unique (Monsere was only 20).
I guess I just like riding with successful riders and at least this time I feel I made the journey, from scratch to world rider. True, he was strong when he was young, but then what about Sagan?
Also, I once compared it to the story about Cavendish, and someone (could've been you, not sure) said: yes, but the difference is we expect Cavendish to win.
I just wanted to make this story like that. He worked himself up in a few seasons, but he's coming at a time where people expect him to win.
Hope you enjoy it nevertheless
welker3257 - Yeah, I was relieved, too
Next (and final) update of today will be posted a little later! |

More racing from Argentina!
Tour de San Luis A nice climb there. The final flat section might bring the field back together, though. We'll see.
The attacks started before the climb, but I wasn't worried.
Right before the climb, we caught them. I decided to do the pacing on the climb, see it as a nice training. I wouldn't pay any attention to the competition.
Things went good, and I was somewhat surprised to see my pace was hard enough to tire out most of the competition.
As the climb progressed, I felt growing stronger. It's been more than a year now since I stopped training time trialing. But that also means it's been more than a year I've been training only exclusively on climbing!
I had quite a gap at the top of the mountain and I decided I shouldn't wait around. Only 10 kilometers to the finish now.
Three chasers, but they gained no time. In fact, they were still losing time to me. I guess most of them were thinking about place 2 and 3 now.
The final kilometer was a triumph ride for me. I loved it!
Too bad I don't have my Rainbow Jersey on right now. But that matters little. Today I was simply the strongest and that's what matters most!

Rainbow Victories: 2
The year couldn't have started better for me. I'll be honest, after a mediocre winter full of rainbow obligations, I was afraid I had not been spending enough time on the bike. But these two victories prove I'm right on track. Once I hit a mountain, something inside of me just takes over and doesn't stop until I hit the summit.
I want to do this jersey honor, and I think I'm doing exactly that right now!
Henry
Spoiler Is it possible Extreme is easier than Hard?
I guess the competition has a different fitness schedule

I am impressed with your win in extreme, I personally struggle much more
Henry has such a large shirt collection from now. I could rebuilt a rainbow jersey with the other he has won

VoetsT - It seems so I'm not complaining!
sutty68 - It cost quite some power, but after the climb it would've been silly to wait for the competition
24sebaf1 - Well that's come true now
Jakstar22 - Thanks!
wogsrus - Is there a level above extreme?
duxili - You mean some sort of Frankenstein creation shirt? thanks, I think the competition is in bad form or something.
I hope to finish San Luis today, but I also have that EPIC report to make and some school work to finish! |

Looks like the new season starts just as well as the last one ended. At least now we can talk about different things than the rainbow curse, like how great he looks in it and his jersey really looks great. We can talk about the curse enough once Gilbert gets his hands on the jersey again.

Ollfardh - Thanks. I'll try to do it today, though
Shonak - At first I was a bit sad I wouldn't see the National Jersey anymore, but actually this one is much more beautiful Thanks! So far no curse, maybe it still has to come but 3 victories in the jersey is already better than Gilbert in a whole year
Batista15 - Looks like it. I think they already gave up when they saw Henry's name on the start list
Thanks for the continued support!
Small update today. Will do EPIC report later today so I'm not sure if I can do another race for this.
Either way, my big computer caught a virus and is crashing, so this laptop is being shared too much now. I'm looking to buy a new laptop just for me, so those problems should be gone soon, but I don't want to rush it, it has to be a good laptop and I don't want windows 8
I'll also need to transfer my save game and files. Not quite sure how to do that yet. |

I'm back in France now. But unfortunately, especially for Becca, I'll be leaving soon again, towards the Tour of Oman.
First here's how I left Argentina...
Tour de San Luis
What's the best way to keep this lead I have? Easy: sit back. We decided to give the stage win to the breakaway today. Only on the final mountain some of my competitors attacked me, but there's no way I'd lose 2 minutes in 2 kilometers, so I didn't panic at all.
Moyano, coming from Argentina, wins another stage at the Tour de San Luis after stage 5 last season.
Since this was a stage for the sprinters, our team didn't put much effort in the chase. It all came together and when we passed the 3 km barrier, I was in the clear: I just won the Tour de San Luis, more easily than I could've imagined!
Cavendish took the final stage very easily.
Result 1 | Mark Cavendish | Lotto Belisol | 3h29'59 | 2 | Rick Zabel | Lotto Belisol | s.t. | 3 | Filippo Fortin | Lampre - Merida | s.t. | 4 | Thor Hushovd | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 5 | Arthur Vichot | Colombia | s.t. | 6 | Frederique Robert | Lotto Belisol | s.t. | 7 | Tom Boonen | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 8 | Henry Vergnaud | Team Celesio - Macquarie | s.t. | 9 | Francesco Lasca | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | s.t. | 10 | Jonathan Hivert | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. |
General Classification 1 | Henry Vergnaud | Team Celesio - Macquarie | 22h54'51 | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ.fr | + 2'33 | 3 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | + 2'57 | 4 | Sergio Henao | Lotto Belisol | + 3'01 | 5 | Michał Kwiatkowski | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | + 3'06 | 6 | Tejay Van Garderen | Cannondale Pro Cycling | + 3'57 | 7 | Ryder Hesjedal | Cannondale Pro Cycling | + 4'33 | 8 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Merida | + 4'47 | 9 | Nairo Quintana | Sky Procycling | + 4'48 | 10 | Daniel Moreno | Movistar Team | + 4'53 |
I also took home the Mountain Jersey!
My Rainbow Year - Days 6 & 7
Rainbow Victories: 3
Winning the Tour de San Luis was great. I am in better shape than I thought, so I don't need to step up on my training.
However, I'm happy to go to the Tour of Oman now, where I'll be wearing my stripes again!
Santos Tour Down Under Tragedy struck the Tour Down Under as the leader of the race Andrea Palini fell hard on the final day and was unable to continue. Leading the Tour Down Under with 40 seconds, he sees the biggest victory of his career disappear into nothing. This allowed Christian Posa to slip into third, though.
General Classification 1 | Luis León Sánchez | Belkin Pro Cycling Team | 17h30'11 | 2 | Roman Kreuziger | RadioShack - Leopard | + 1'08 | 3 | Christian Posa | Team Celesio - Macquarie | + 1'33 | 4 | Alexander Kristoff | Team Celesio - Macquarie | + 1'53 | 5 | Bauke Mollema | Lampre - Merida | + 2'20 | 6 | Jürgen Roelandts | Lotto Belisol | + 2'28 | 7 | Heinrich Haussler | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | + 2'35 | 8 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 2'36 | 9 | Andrew Talansky | BMC Racing Team | + 2'37 | 10 | Simon Spilak | Belkin Pro Cycling Team | + 2'53 |
I'm getting ready for Oman now. I'm aiming for a top 5 place and hoping for a stage win!

WOW! so strong in Argentina. Will you win every race this year? Destroy all traces of the cruse
And I could cry with Cav at Lotto because I am not a Lotto fan personally. Never really have been

duxili - Hmm that's true. Unless, of course, he returns home one night and it gets so fiery because they miss each other a child is bound to come of it?
Jakstar22 - Thanks! I'll need it
the_hoyle - Win every race? That's the plan But I don't think it'll work. Either way, Henry is ambitious and strong, so I have high hopes for a great season.
Oh that's why Well, at least it's only in this game
Thanks everyone! Getting my new laptop tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that moving all files goes well! |
