The hill stage indeed turned out to be a disappointment, not bad for Bru to stay in the lead group for a somewhat decent GC.

Really not impressed by that. No selection means no stage win for Houle (though he gave it a good go) and Dyrnes slipping well away from his good GC spot. Going to end up being not a great race for us
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Slightly disappointed that Vichot didn't give the stage win a go. With the hill and downhill skills he possess, he might have come close, but okay. Good stage from Guarnieri, and for our GC chances, it's probably a good thing this ended in a sprint. Although I would have liked to see what Schreurs could do on this stage.
Congrats on another win beagle! I'd say this is Degenkolb's to lose now.

Bellis starting the year with a top 10 GC... nothing flashy but could have hoped for more based on the lack of selectivity during the race. Just hope now Enger can grab a podium on the last stage to give us some worthwhile points from Down Under

We're likely losing that podium place with this annoying "hilly" stage. Hopefully no more surprises tomorrow. I can't say I'm unhappy with how Trofi and Borges have teamed up though. It seems like a good omen.
Congrats beagle and red on your victories.

Not sure Holloway attacking made a lot of sense, maybe better to save it for the sprint.
Although with so many sprinters easy to get swamped in the sprint.
Definitely can't fault the attitude and nothing to complain about overall for Holloway, should be able to hold onto a decent GC position.
Congrats to Degenkolb and looks like we will be congratulating him on GC and Points tomorrow. |

Edmondson still 5th overall after a very quiet day at Willunga Hill! So far very happy! Hopefully he can grab some bonus points in the final day to make something small happen!
It will be a very exciting final day with the very close time gaps in the top of the GC!

From Corkscrew and Willunga, it seems the game might have it's own idea for when a stage is hill or flat rated - rather than using the rating given. Will be interesting to see how that affects other races.

PCM15 Corkscrew was very similar actually. Always had puncheurs attacking there and usually gaining time despite flat stage rating.
This Willunga was a bit weird indeed but likely due to couple of factors:
- break was about to be caught but not fully yet
- the climb itself is not very difficult
- (maybe most important many top puncheurs have a top sprinter in the same team. In especially the best puncheur in Schreurs with Guarnieri, Gautier with Manninen, Flügel with Cavendish, Yates with Zabel and so on. As the sprinters are in high GC positions, this might have had an impact I guess. In especially with Delvaux being a very extreme case here. |

Well done by Dan Holloway, he didn't achieve much last year but did really well here.
Not much to cheer about myself, let's hope it's just the Australian races that give me bad AI, but for now I can't be happy with the switch to PCM18.
Thanks for the reports!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wow, really a big one for Holloway! Congrats to Ulrich, an amazing start for your team! I hope we won't clash too much
And thanks to roturn for the reporting, was a nice read even though we were not involved.

And also the distance from the top to the finish, usually it was an uphill finish (and a 2xclimb)

Thanks for the reports and congrats to those, who feel like you've been 'winners' in this race!
As for Jayco, I can be happy with six early breakaway appearances and one (or two?) days in the KoM lead. Eventually, the wrong guy got that jersey on first day. Seems like Gate had been a better option, as he was featured in no less than four breaks. That was all I we could get from this home race realistically, so I'm fine.

Obviously dropping from first to third on the final flat stage is disappointing. However before the race U would probably have been happy with 3rd, a stage win, KOM jersey and several days in the leaders jersey adding Manninen on GC 13th place to that.

I can't complain with the result. I feel we were pretty lucky here with how things turned out. Borges making me really confident in his schedule now. Sneaking in a sprint in this sort of field is bonkers!
Anyway congrats Ulrich. Brilliant start to your MG debut campaign. What an upset!
And finally thanks for your ever amazing repports roturn. Chapeau!

I'm already a bit nervous on the sprint AI if Enger continues to perform like this :/
