How does Gilbraltar drive in the right if the moto is riding on left?
Both the bus and the motorcycle are driving on the right side of the road.
What might have confused you is that the motorcycle is in the left lane of the picture but you have to look at the rider's point of view, not yours view. |

The halfway point of the season is almost upon us and Brewer's dangerous lifestyle keeps dragging him all over the world. It's a good job he has a seemingly bottomless supply of money. Maybe he's James Bond, who knows? Anyway, where has he ended up now?
You have until 20:00 GMT on Tuesday to answer this one. There's still plenty of time left in the competition and a maximum of 1200 points to be scored. Don't give up yet!

OK!
Brewers - Please could you take me out of the rankings table from now on? I will still keep playing but I don't see the point in being ranked alongside people who are google-searching the street names/dealerships etc. (Again, I thought this was a guessing game): it is like we are playing two different games. |

Sadly, I 100% agree with you but there's nothing I can do. If people want to Google every detail, they can. It's frustrating but I can't police it without going round everyone's house and watching them. I may make the remaining five extra difficult to make people rely on their instinct more.

The problem is with humanity. If we went the route of pictures without much civilization in them, it would come down to guesing. I hope... Probably.

The picture from last round had plenty enough clues to find out it was in Gibraltar somewhere. I was there 3 weeks ago, and noticed about the right driving thing, so had a little advantage there probably...
Besides Gibraltar is so small and doesn't even have all the streets on google street view, so if you knew the country, it was a small task to find the right street, even though I used 20 minutes of driving through the city
EDIT: But I do agree; as few clues as possible would make it a lot more open in terms of where people decide to place their marker. Countryside pictures should be impossible to google, but still give away a few natural hints, like vegetation (Chile and Isle of Man was two good examples of that) and everyone can feel they're participating on equal terms.

To be fair, I do not think it was ever actually stated that you could not google or use other resources, and it makes the game more strategic because some people did not notice the right hand driving or in previous versions that we were in an airport.
Obviously it is something that just cant be controlled I guess.

I found the place after a long long researching time. Just a clue, taxis, taxis, taxis...

Deadline later today. Sadly, Google has struck again so the remaining five will literally be in the middle of a field with nothing to see. I hope your knowledge of grass species and geology is up to scratch.
When it gets to the stage that people are spending an hour or more googling taxis, the very point of GeoGUESSR is lost.
If there is another season (which at this point is completely out of the question considering this has now become a game challenging your internet searching ability), there will be no bonus for getting it bang on at all.
And before you all say "I didn't say you couldn't use the internet", of course I didn't because you have to use the internet to do the challenge. The post before this from our current 'leader' is the exact problem.

As people said before, this game is pretty fun for me with the current rules. Even looking at Google, sometimes it is very difficult to find the place! I would tell you to please keep this as I (and I think I am not the only one) have a great time with this!

This is why it's hard to run any knowledge based game on the internet, because it's the internet and you can find any piece of information eventually.
We should all go back to IWS

Legit my favorite game here. I loved running it. Thats why BB has been so much different. Everyone gets a different Veto to make it fair, and these challenges cannot be googled.

The major clue here was obviously the fancy-looking building in the centre. The very busy road directly in front with cars travelling on the left and the general tropical vibe of the place should have narrowed it down quite considerably. But, people just googled the taxis, so...

Nine people plopped down in one of the busiest cities in the world, Mumbai, on the West coast of India. Everybody was in Asia, with PeterRyder in the Indian capital, Luxemburger in the Taiwanese capital and The Rider in Dubai. So, were the majority bang on?
It was just outside the Taraporewala Aquarium on Marine Drive, Mumbai, India. So, did all of the guys who said Mumbai get it bang on?

Nope. lakebeach gave up precious ground by being miles away from the sea. The other eight do pick up the 200 points though, including the current top four. The other three sadly pay a big price for not googling taxis, though both The Rider and Luxemburger failed to spot which side of the road the cars were driving on anyway. At least PeterRyder was in the right country but India is a big place.
Here's what that means to the standings as the top five continue to stretch away.

The only big change is lakebeach dropping out of the lead group and finding himself just five points ahead of you know who. AbhishekLFC moves in to the top 10 due to Selwink not submitting an answer. But the battle for the win is just about to heat up. A lot.
------------
The remaining five are going to be a lot harder. I want knowledge and intelligence, as well as a bit of luck, to decide the winner some way or another, not the all-powerful Google. Round six will start later today.

Happy I got the right city, I choosed between Bombay and New Delhi.
I don't know how I should have found the exact correct spot. Maybe I should have seen that the "sidewalk" was wide, which could indicate that the spot is close to the sea.
