Expected that tbh and already said the same in stat discussion myself. Gaviria actually beaten Cavendish 2 times on non-total flat finishes, if you take a better look at the profiles you can see a decent percentage in the final kms

Quite easy victory for him, looking at the finish photo. Meanwhile Rojas stuns the world by getting 3rd.

Hmm, cool too see Pelucchi and Viviani fight and then win against most of the best sprinters -as they are as well-. Probably Bouhanni and Greipel are not in the best form yet, but who cares about these details: we have Rojas not getting 4th! Doping? Can't exclude it!

Darn. Bouhanni beat Rojas for 4th place.
That's a strong sprinters field. Pelucchi shows his Tirreno win last year wasn't a fluke. |

Huge win for MTN.
Steve Cummings winning the 2nd stage of the Trofeo Mallorca.
He attacked in last kilometer together with Valverde and Formolo.

Great win, but wouldn't say huge Mallorca is the cycling equivalent of a pre-season friendly.
Cummings starts in good shape like he usually does. Last year doing good in Dubai and Tour of Med, and years back beating Contador on the MTF on Malhao!

Huge as I was expecting that first MTN win would be by a sprinter.
When seeing on twitter that MTN is cheering for Cummings after his attack, I just remembered him being there now as well. |

Heh Cummings beat Contador up Alto didn't he and now Valverde up some hill in Majorca. Cummings is a bit of a pre season king - does the guy not celebrate Christmas?
Really nice to see Formalo up, was a bit worried about how the Italians would work with the Garmin team. But Moser was decent at TDU and Formolo here - good stuff.

Jack Bobridge didn't incredibly (imo) manage to beat Brandle's hour record. Still no news on cyclingnews, I can provide for you Gazzetta's article though: https://www.gazzetta.it/Ciclismo/30-01...0455.shtml
After an hour of effort, his attempt is only worth about 51,300 km, +500 m from old Brandle's record.
That's quite sad imo, it was the first serious attempt of breaking the 52 kms barrier.

He was too fast in the beginning and really struggled to keep the high pace after half time.
He was totally exhausted in the end. Far more than Voigt or Brändle. |

Valverde with 30km> solo win. Wellens and Konig attacked from the peleton coming on the podium.
Benoot starts very strong, did great job for Wellens

It must have been my doping accusation, that 3rd place was so suspicious...
Jokes aside, Valverde started attacking often now, I can remember at least 2 or 3 solo wins like this during the last year.
