About 21 races have been decided. So we're halfway.
I hope we can get the game started on Monday. I hope to finish the calendar today or tomorrow. Sunday I'll divide every rider to a team. PM me if you have a specific wish for a team. (or create a new team below)

Other information: In the Italian Aosta Valley a new cross is held. In the narrow valley climbing is inevitable, and the sand paths usually used by farmers have been made available for what may become a legendary cross. Expect some spectacle in the open fields with lots of short, sharp ascents.

Name: Sven Welling
Nationality (region): Belgium, Flanders
Date of Birth: 1984/23/3
Height: * 1.96
Weight: * 78 kig
Specialty: Makes Race Tough
Weakness: Can’t Sprint For The Life Of Him
Biography:
Welling is a traditional flandriennes rider, who was always caught between the cobblestones and Cyclo-Cross. Eventually he decided to commit full time to CX at the age of 25. He has been a rival for many prestigious names and he won his fair share of races. But like with many others, his star began to sink early whilst others remained on top.
Now he is satisified riding his bike in competitions and helping his teammates when the occasion arises.

Name: Guido Visconti
Nationality (region): Belgium, Flanders
Date of Birth: 1996/12/12
Height: * 1.67
Weight: * 59 kg
Specialty: Famous Heritage – As the first son, great things are expected of him; thanks to his dad equipment, knowledge and staff are top-notch for a youngster!
Weakness: Talent, quo vadis?! – Whilst he has potential to be an athlete, maybe Cycling is not really his sport. It is yet to be seen if he will develop.
Biography:
First son of former legendary Cyclo-Cross rider Raphael Visconti. Born and raised in Belgium, it never stood to question for which country he will perform – or in which discipline he will become professional. Cycling and especially Cyclo-Cross was his heritage and destiny.
Whilst Guido is capable of great athleticism, he lacks the prestigious soublesse and panache many riders need in order to turn into future greats. Despite his family and a life full of cycling, he is rather awkward on a bike.
As such, he is always caught between quitting a race, quitting the whole sport or basically doing what’s in his blood: Ride bicycle.

Well, nevermind, hadn't seen the calendar released before. Edited by Dippofix on 19-12-2014 14:33
For those who are already looking to delve in a little deeper into the calendar and decide their main targets for the upcoming season, here is the information sheet on all races, divided by category.
For the lesser active/interested players: don't worry too much. If you don't let me know anything, a rider will compete in all races. It's only for those who are really looking to only compete in eg. Superprestige because that should feature more sand races, they can target those races and skip a Saturdag World Cup race to be fresh on the Superprestige Sunday race or something.Edited by Ian Butler on 19-12-2014 14:32
Hi Ian this looks like a really interesting project you are putting together.
I'd like to enter one rider, perhaps not the best guy it is sort of modelled on myself!
Name: Elliot Cook
Nationality (region): United Kingdom
Date of Birth: 1989/12/4
Height: * 1.82
Weight: * 87 kg
Specialty: Powerful in the saddle type rider
Weakness: Poor acceleration
Biography: Having been on the fringe of the British track programme, Cook took to the British Road racing circiut with limited success. Not really a team player Cook managed some decent results in rides against the clock, but usually found himself raced out of things on the road.
Cook never really settled into a team role, managers seeing him as a potential lead out man or a good water carrier this proved less than inspiring to a young rider and towards the end of the 2012/13 season Cook decided to stop his professional cycling career and get a 'proper' job. One weekend that autumn while down the local park cycling at the weekend. Smowz came across a local cyclo-cross race. One of the organisors actually recognized Cook and offered him a chance to ride as an invitaional. Despite the lack of prepartion Cook thought what the hell lets give this a go.
The amatuers looked delighted at the line to be able to give a roadie a good hammering, Elliot however excelled as the gun went off he settled into a good rhythm and started to pick off riders ahead of him as the race moved into the second and third lap. By the fifth and final lap Cook was in fifth place puching hard to pick off the fourth placed rider. However on one slippery turn he lost his bike and went down. Cook picked himself to finish a highly credible 8th to the surprise and the annoyance of the fellow riders. Elliot just loved the event and felt it was cycling in for him the purest of forms Mano against Mano.
Elliot has since ridden several events winning a couple of the longer races and is now in training to enter the harder level of cyclo-cross races.

Name: Manneken Frietjes
Nationality (region): Belgium (Flanders)
Date of Birth: 31.06.1993
Height: 193cm
Weight: 72kg
Specialty: Intelligent Rider
Weakness: French Fries (& slow start)
Biography: Basically since the day of his birth Manneken dreamed of becoming a good cyclist. His parents got a french fries booth in Gent. That's the reason why Manneken suffered a big part of his youth under obesity, which made it kind of hard to pursue his dream. It was not until Manneken won at the McDonalds Monopoly a training with one of the best Belgian cyclocrossers at that time. That cyclocrosser laughed and made jokes at Manneken which gave him the required motivation to only focus on cyclo cross from that time on. Although Manneken is a late starter he believes that he can make it to the very top one day.

Name: Martin Kuhschänder
Nationality (region): Austria (Salzburger Land)
Date of Birth: 24.04.1989
Height: 178cm
Weight: 69kg
Specialty: Bad Weather Specialist
Weakness: Lack of Intelligence
Biography: Martin is from an Austrian farmer family and it was planned that he'd take over the farm from his father Martin. Who himself also got it from his father Martin, who inherited it from his father Martin before. The farm is since 1776 in the hands of the Kuhschänder family. So it for sure lead to a big family dispute when Martin told his parents that he sees himself in Cyclo Cross in the future. Martin early on started to spend his summers up in the mountains on the Kuhschänder-Alm. In his loneliness he spent a lot of time with the cows. But they after some time got boring and threatened to sue the Austrian so Martin decided to bring in the following year his old bike up with him. That's when he discovered cyclo cross for him. After milking the cows he took his bike and often spent the entire day on the challenging hikers lane with his bike. Sometimes he even rode up to the glacier.
It is entirely clear how or why Martin was discovered by a talent scout but the muscular Austrian made his way up and now has the chance to take part in the races of the worlds best cyclocrossers. He for sure will never be a world beater but at times he might be able to challenge for top 10 places.

Name: Lars Van Hennep
Nationality (region): Netherlands (Amsterdam)
Date of Birth: 24.12.1991
Height: 184cm
Weight: 71kg
Specialty: Final Round
Weakness: Unprofessionalism
Biography: Lars would have everything to become one of the best cyclo crossers in the world. From an early age on he started to visit a cyclo cross school. Lars, however, is very unprofessional and has a predilection to alcohol. It already happened that he was at the start of a juniors race with an alcohol level of more than 1. He still managed to get on the podium in that race which shows again that he doesn't lack the skills. In a field of only professionals it will be hard to do good with that kind of attitude. It will be seen if he manages to overcome this issue, because if he does everybody will have to count him in for some very good results.

Nationality (region): Czech Republic (Bohemia)
Date of Birth: 01.09.1984
Height: 183cm
Weight: 72kg
Specialty: bad weather specialist
Weakness: sweaty dude
Biography: Artur is a very calm dude who gets to his maximum when the rain is pouring down, when the temperature hits very unpleasant values close to the freezing point. Ice is no problem for him, neither is heavy wind. Artur will have his problems when the sun is shining and we have pleasant temperatures. In that case he often will be found at the very rear end of the field and might drop out of a race. He can turn into the complete opposite of a sunshine. If the sun comes out the calm Artur can turn into something completely different. He won't hesitate to show everyone in what kind of mood he is.

Name: Matt Mazzarelli
Nationality (region): Italy (Apulia)
Date of Birth: 17/11/1992
Height: * 186 cm
Weight: * 83 kg
Specialty: ** Technic Puncher
Weakness: ** Flat
Biography: Matt grew up in the least cyclocross-prone city in the world, Brindisi, in the warmest south of Italy. As 11 he started training hard on the few hills of the nearby zones, and all the talent scouts of his city always seen him as a cyclocross rider rather than the rider he was aiming to turn into: the GT winner. His father, though, had a different idea of him, and he was sure about his next work: "The earth digger".
As 13, his cycling passion bursts and he finally decides to move to the West-Vlaanderen, where he finally manages to grow his passion. However, the environment behind him causes his "switch" to Belgian Beer and, secondly, to Cyclocross.
As 15 he starts to race in the lower divisions and the results are not too slow to come. He wins almost every cross he takes part in.
Nevertheless, as 17, his relatives tell him he won't never earn enough and convince him to enroll the University of Cambridge to cultivate his talent and his public speaking skills, there he even changes his name. But few months later regrets his choice and leaves the university and, though all his parents' curses, he won't regret his choice once again. So he moves to Oudeenarde and his talent makes all the cx teams contend him.
As 22 many teams offer him a professional contract: stay tuned to know what this will be!
