I managed to get to the 2nd round with Mexico.
I was drawn in a group consisting of Poland, Italy and Paraguay.
Results:
Mexico 3-1 Paraguay
Mexio 0-1 Italy
Mexico 0-0 Poland
Poland topped the group on 7 points ahead of me on 4 and Italy 3rd on 4 with Paraguay bottom.
This mean't I played England where I lost 3-0 with all goals coming in the second half. Germany beat Argentina in the final.

I have won my first online Fifa World Cup with Colombia.
What a team to play with, fantastic on the counter attack, I scored 28 goals and conceded 8. Falcao and Rodriguez where incredible with Cuardrado and Ibarbo on the wings. Guarin and Sanchez holding.
Scored 5 or more goals in no less that 3 of my games, with 3 people rage quitting on me
My results:
Group Stage:
Colombia 3-0 Brazil, he quit.
Colombia 1-1 France
Colombia 4-2 Germany, I was 4-0 up at HT
Second Round:
Colombia 4-1 Brazil, I scored a bizarre own goal with Armero to go 1-0 down.
Quarter Finals:
Colombia 6-0 Mexico
Semi Finals:
Colombia 5-2 Ghana, he quit.
Final:
Colombia 5-2 Germany, he quit, I went behind twice and came back.
It was a tough run too.

28 goals wow, impressive. I also finally managed to win the online cup tonight with USA. A long struggle that had me face Mexico 3 times, Netherlands, and the final against a really good player who was using Brazil. I somehow managed to keep Brazil goalless (I only had 2 shots on target) and I stole the game in penalties 2-1.
My 2nd cup to replace my Germany win about a month ago. Just in time for the real game Thursday.

Thank you for making this thread. It reminded me and sparked some interest in playing FIFA World Cup 2006 for my Gamecube. Really fun and the physics are great after playing FIFA 2002 for 2 hours.
Have World Cup 2010 as well, but for Wii. not sure I am interested in playing that right now.

I also have World Cup 2010 for Wii... That game is terrible. On the topic of old games, I also fondly remember a world cup game (98" or something) I used to play as a little kid on the original PlayStation. I got so much into it that when my family took a trip to Disney World at the time I was more disappointed I couldn't play anymore rather than happy that I was going to Disney World. I was like 5-6 years old at that time.
I also claimed my 3rd online world cup yesterday with... Costa Rica. It was quite a run that saw a penalty shootout win against France in the Semis and 2 goals scored past the 80 minute to win the final against Mexico.

I tried Costa Rica but they don't suit my style of play of sitting deep and counter attacking

Whaaaaat? It's much better than the Wii 'Fifa' they're rolling out now. I have a number of friends for whom the only Wii football game they will play is that. However, it said Italy would beat Spain in the final.....
And try an Iran campaign.
