Just had a read of the story, and I am really liking it. Nice reports, a different style to others, and some good results for Sky

the_hoyle - Thanks, hopefully you can carry on following.
Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 4 ITT
Porte stays in the Hunt.
The Time Trial stage was going to be as important as any other especially being 24km with a short hill at the end with a highest gradient of 22%. Sky's first rider out on the TT bike was Joshua Edmondson who set an impressive time of +1:15 35th, this was really good for Edmondson considering that he isn't that good a time trialing. Next with an Poor time, was Salvatore Puccio he came in +2:18 179th. Sebastian Henao came in straight after him with +2:02 148th. A few riders later Philip Deignan came in +1:38 80th. Things were improving rider by rider for Sky. Sky had a gap for a while until David Lopez came in +1:20 47th and Then another improvement for Sky with a great ride for Nathan Earle, he came in +58 17th. Mikel Nieve Came in +1:17 39th, This was a good effort as Nieve isn't good on a Time Trial bike, He has kept on to his top 10. Then there was Richie who had set the Best time at the Checkpoint with Voeckler 25 seconds behind and Valverde 22 seconds. Richie had burst up the final hill and had put to much effort into the Flat, As a result of this he came +1:06 24th. Luckily Voeckler he only dropped a second to the Leader. Valverde gained 16 seconds on him and had closed the gap to 15 second on Porte and 40 seconds on Voeckler. Everything was still to play four with One final stage to go. Michal kwiatkowski took the stage ahead of team-mate Thomas De Gendt. Sylvain Chavanel took the last podium place.

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 5(Final Stage)
Porte struggles.
The final stage of the Tour of Mediterraneen began with a 2 man breakaway which included Sebastian Henao and Jerome Pineau. There lead got up to 7 minutes but was rapidly coming down with 30km to go. Everyone went over the category 2 climb with no attacks, But on the decent Christophe Le Mevel, Rigoberto Uran, Alejandro Valverde, Warren Barguil, Michal Kwiatkowski and Thomas Voeckler attacked they joined Jerome Pineau with 4km to go. Porte struggled on the decent and ended up far behind when the riders attacked so he couldn't counter attack. He only got to the front before the final ascent, Then he attacked but the riders where 30 seconds ahead. Porte got to them with 3km to go but was tired. He got dropped. Voeckler attacked with 2km to go and it was looking promising for him. Voeckler took it, he wraps up a win in his first race of the Season in his Home Country. Richie Porte came in 20th +1:52. He as lost his 2nd place and Podium place but has managed to Hang on to 4th place.

11/02/14 Press Conference.
DB - Hello and i am here with Chris Froome, ahead of the Tour of Oman today.
Press - Well start with the Omam, as that's were we are. How do you rate your chances as a team.
DB - Obviously we have a great chance, With Chris Froome hoping to win his first race of the season, Also we have great hope that Wiggo can help Froome, But also place very high in the GC.
Press - Are they getting on Okay.
DB - Of course they are there sharing a room, and having plenty of fun together.
Press - Froome how do you rate your chances.
DB - Well, I would like to be up there come Green Mountain, but anything can happen, Its Cycling! But if i'm up there come Green Mountain i will certainly have a go. I know you'll probably want know if Wiggins doing better than me come Green mountain, If i will help him, Of course he is my Team mate. And i will do anything to help my Team mates.
Press - You've also got a race coming soon in Algarve in a few days. Who will be your main Headline rider.
DB - Geraint Thomas. He will be lucking to improve on his GC efforts from Down Under.
Press - You sound disappointed in him, are you.
DB - No i was just stating his targets for the upcoming race.
Press - Would you like to give us your Startlist's for the two races/
DB - Of Course, Oman: C.Froome, B.Wiggins, P.Kennaugh, B.Swift, J.Dombrowski, I.Stannard, V.Kiryienka and Ian Boswell. Algarve: N.Earle, G.Rasch, D.Pate, B.Eisel, G.Thomas, L.Rowe, K.Siutsou.
Press - Well go onto your previous races. Where you happy with Wiggo in Mallorca.
DB - Extremely, A great start to begin the season for him, We felt like we could of had the GC, Because Wiggo wanted to go and get Bonus seconds, But we told it was pointless. Weren't we wrong.
Press - Massively, So you're saying you denied Wiggins the Mallorca GC.
DB - Not entirely, He might not had got them.
Press - We'll move onto Qatar. Another great start to the season, with Chris Sutton narrowly being beaten by former team-mate Mark Cavendish.
DB - He's not to bothered about being beaten to Cav, as he knew he was better at sprinting, and TT. He just doesn't like the stick he is getting from him.
Press - Haaa... Know onto Mediterraneen, Was Porte disappointed with the last two stages after doing so well on the previous three.
DB - A bit but he was still happy that he got three podiums, a 4th place and dropping Valverde on a Climb!!!! Yes he was a bit disappointed with his TT efforts but he did better than others.
Press - We would like to congratulate you on your National manager job
DB - Thanks!
Press - There has been talk that you Froome have declared you're not interested in the World's this year.
C.Froome - That can't be true because i've never spoke to Dvae about it, You never know i might. I might not.
Press - That's all.
DB - Thanks. It's been a joy to speak to you all, Next Press conference before Andalucia. |

All - thanks for all you're great support. I haven't posted for a few days as i am waiting for the PCM focus DB to be released as it has a few more 2014 races than what i have. But unfortunately there was a problem with the DB yesterday so it may not be released for a few days.
I am not sure what to do as i am really inpatient and want to at least do something for you're entertainment. |
