Don't forget this isn't the Sky of last year, and this isn't the Saxo Bank of last year. Contador has brought climbing specialists, while Sky has more of an overall team. No Henao, Uran, Wiggins... Much less climbers than before.
Um Henao and Uran were not riding last year either.
Last years Sky doom train was Knees, Hagen, Rogers, Porte, Froome (Wiggins), they also had Eisel and Cav and Siutsou left the race before it really started.
This year's sky doom train Hagen, Kiryenka, Kennaugh, Thomas, Siutsou, Lopez, Porte, Froome. There is also the steam engine Stannard as well. Sky is for me stronger this year. They will tempo ride on most of the mountain climbs and most of the time the others will just sit and suffer behind, just like they have done in every stage race they have had a strong leader in for the last two years.
Though you are correct Saxo have a focus this year and Movistar look good along with Belkin and Garmin. These teams will pick their moments as BMC and Liquigas tried to do last year, but they will likely wait for the Alps.

Still, Porte is no Froome, and Lopez is no (doped) Rogers, imo.
Also, last year the Sky train was active all year, destroying every stage race they appeared at. This year their train has not been equally effective. Managers and riders are getting to know the train and can hop on board easier or find a way to battle it. |

Am I the only one who thinks Jean-Christophe Péraud can make it into the Top 10? He's a decent climber and time-triallist, and AG2R is a strong team, Péraud has team mates like Gadret, Dupont and Riblon to help him out.

He's got the potential to be in the top 10, yes. Rather at the bottom of it though.
Having a strong mountain team doesn't really help in his case, as he'll probably use the tactic consisting in following for as long as he can then ride a steady pace to the summit, and be constant every day.
No jersey defending burden that'd require a (strong) team there. |

Péraud could obviously enter the top 10 as he is a good rider. It will take for some of the other Top 10 favorites to fail or abandon though I suspect. Top 15 seems more realistic, but why not. I'll be cheering for him, like I'm always cheering on the french riders here.

He's perfectly capable of a top 10.
He did it in his first Tour in 2011, and the only reason he didn't do it again in 2012 is because he was peaking for the MTB race at the Olympics

As always, looking back at your predictions is fun!
Mine was bad. Real bad. Top 10, White, Dots and Team all wrong. Not one rider placed correct in the top 10
I was correct with Sagan but that wasn't hard.
But I did predict a great tour for Bakelants

Got the top 4 pretty much spot on. Admittedly the wrong Movistar rider in 2nd, but correct places apart from that.
The rest are way off, but I do think Vandenbroeck would've been close to 5th if he hadn't crashed out. Nieve wasn't too far away from polkadots either.

Sagan has this. Flat stages will be for Cav, but Sagan will take podiums there, and get most of his points in the hilly bunch sprints.
Polka Dots
Thomas Voeckler, by attacking a lot.
White
Quintana got this.
Combativité
Thomas Voeckler, again.
Best Team
Sky. Vroome, Vroome, here comes the Sky train.
Meh.
Edit: Second look at it isn't that bad, actually.
Still meh.

Green: Cavendish too many flat stages for Sagan and I Cav has improved in getting over the hills.
KOM: Voeckler
White: Pinot although Quintana could suprise if he can get enough time over Pinot in the tt for the mountains.
Team: Radioshack. They always have a bunch of solid climbers on the team and Jens will gain time from breaks.

My predictions for the Tour:
TOP 10
1. Alberto Contador (he hasn't shown his best this year so far. he's a champion and he'll outfight Froome by a little margin)
2. Chris Froome
Battle over the third place will be very interesting in my opinion. there at least ten riders who have the potential to do so. And 20 rider to get into Top 10. However here's my rest of the Top 10.
3. Alejandro Valverde (he's a proven GT rider. The route suits him really good. was great in la vuelta last year.)
4. Joaquim Rodriguez (on par with valverde. but i see one of-day for him which favours valverde over him.)
5. Bauke Mollema (impressed me this year. really good climber with the hilly TT's. i expect a lot from him this year. hope belkin don't make the mistake und put gesink over him.)
6. Tejah van Garderen or Cadel Evans (who will be the leader? I take TVG)
7. Jürgen van den Broek (not a strong season so far. but also not bad. he's very consistent and a top 10 finish should be in the bag.)
8. Jakob Fuglsang (great Dauphine. i have a feeling he will make the top 10.)
9. One Garmin rider (If Hesjedal is fit he will make the top 10. a top 5 is possible also then. If Hesjedal isn't ready there's Talansky. Martin however I don't see there. He's not that consistent.)
10. Andy Schleck (Has he lost his motivation or what? But I expect a sign of life in this tour.)
note: If Valverde crash in the first week Quintana will take his spot. I'm not sure what to do with Porte. I can see him in the Top 10 or even Top 5 BUT it's a three-week race.
Green
Easy decision. The Tourminator will strike again. Sagan with top 3-5 finishes in the sprints. Win or podium in stage 2,3,5. Gap stage could well be a good stage for him too after what i saw in Suisse.
Polka Dot
Dan Martin or Tom Voeckler
White
TVG
Best Team
Saxo or Sky
7 of 10 riders. That's okay
Picked Sagan for Green but the wrong GC winner. My bad. |

9. Porte
10. Pinot
Green - Cavendish, obviously.
Polka dots - Some Frenchman.
White - TVG
Combativity - Some Frenchman, again.
Best Team - Movistar
So, I got the winning rider, winning gap and arguably best team right. |

Top 5 for a specialist time triallist in the tour route in all of recorded history most suited to a time triallist, that at the same time was the weakest tour de france field ever seen other than possible 1983.....not exactly any indication that he can finish top 5 this year.
I'd consider a top 10 a big success if I were him

1. Froome
Easy guess
2. Rodriguez
Close enough. One position lower
3. Contador
Close enough.
4. Van Den Broeck
Shame he had to retire earlier, could have attacked in the mountains.
5. Quintana
Knew that top 5 would be assured for Quintana, didn't expected him to be so high by the end of the Tour.
6. Valverde
Always something.
7. Pinot
Probably last year he had more fear of his manager than descentes himself.
8. Van Garderen
Why did I tought this I have no idea.
9. Rolland
KOTM jersey fight was more important.
10. Fuglsang
Very close.
Points - Greipel
Not even close.
Mountains - Voeckler
Random guess. Stupid guess.
White - Quintana
Nailed it.
Team - Sky
Tought Porte would get 2nd and gain enough time on everyone to give the classification to Sky.
Combativity - Voeckler
Got the nationality, not the rider.
