Vandenbergh's attack is easily followed by Paolini... He needs something more impressive to win it...
Only 1,5km left.

So VDB is just going to lead him out for the next kilometre?

So, who for 3rd?
Chavanel should be very fresh, but I don't think he stands much of a chance against a guy like GVA in a sprint.

Van Avermaet tried to attack, but brought back. It seems to be Paolini's.
He takes it easily.

Vandenbergh's tactical sense matches Ullrich's.
Relatively surprising outcome for the followers group sprint. |

Thomas should have played it better there, anyway nicely done by Paolini of course.

Oh I'm so happy, Vandousselaere is such an entertaining rider to watch and this is a huge result for him. Hopefully it can help him to get back to the top teir of teams.
Paolini was pretty much assured of victory with 3km to go when VDB decided to lead him out.

Yeah I would have thought that Roelandts and Van Avermaet were the best bets but Vandousselaere has a really good kick on him in a small group, so I knew he would be a threat as one of the top 3 riders in that group.

Still better than Cancellara's, at least he asked Paolini to take relays and even attacked twice.
