the start of the season was an fairly easy and short one so sprinters were looking for a victory, the race favorites were all sprinters because of that.

*** Freire (RAB), Bennati (LIQ), Farrar (MOV)
** Boasson Hagen (MOV), Greipel (QST), Haussler (GRM), McEwen (RAB), Feillu (VCD)
* Van Avermaet (SKY), Davis (AST), Hunter (RSH), Rojas (MOV), Hondo (LIQ), O'Grady (AST), Paolini (KAT), Brown (RAB)

and with the king of the mountain point after only 10k it is very likely to get a lot of attacks very early

137 km we only just begon and the first attack of the season was from Krivtsov (VAC) and was quickly followed by Lagutin (AGR), and Keisse (QST).

133 km More riders are trying to get in the breakaway, this time it's Willems (OLO) and Robert (GRM)

132 km More Attacks, with two national champions De Maar (AST), Meyer (BMC) and Ponzi (LIQ)

127 km Mayer and Ponzi are caught by the peleton, while Beppu (RSH) tries to get away

125 km about 6 more people try to join Beppu to get in the breakaway. these are Rast (HTC), Ponzi and Meyer again, Pérez (EUS), Kondrut (SAX) and Chicchi (LAM)

121 km group Beppu has been caught by the peleton but Ponzi and Rast are stubborn enough to try to get in the breakaway

Mountain Sprint Willems is the first person this season to wear the Mountain jersey, Roberts, Lagutin, De Maar and Krivtsov take the other points
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0022.png
Willems winning his first mountain jersey

117 km even after the mountain sprint the attacks are continue Hunt (BMC), Samtambrogio (LAM), Vandborg (SAX), Rast again (HTC), Kwiatkowski (RSH), Bodnar and Dall'Antonia (LIQ) are going to try again to get in the breakaway

111 km again a new attack and it looking like it can make the gap to the breakaway. Pate (HTC) and Izagirre (EUS) Kondrut (SAX) Ponzi (LIQ)

103 km the pace is to low in the leading group according to Roberts (GRM) he's trying to breakaway

100 km going into the last 100km the group are like this
PeletonE3E2E1
119 riders4 riders9 riders1 rider
BeppuKeisseRoberts
PonziDe Maar
IzagirreWillems
ChicchiPate
Krivtsov
Hunt
Lagutin
Vandborg
Santambrogio

meanwhile Bodnar (LIQ) is making a deseprate attempt to breakaway but can he overcome a 1'22" gap?

96 km Roberts is caught by the pursuers group meanwhile Bodnar is caught again by the peleton

92 km The first puncture of the season has been spotted. it is Alexander Mironov of Saxo Bank.
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0023.png
the first puncture of the season

Intermedite Sprint 1 the first intermedite sprint of the season has been won by Danny Pate (HTC) with Willems (OLO) 2nd and the De Maar (AST) 3rd
the peleton decides to let the breakaway get more room. it's now over two minutes
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0024.png
Pate leading the breakaway past the first intermediate sprint

87 km the breakaway just lost one of it people. Beppu has a puncture. that's some bad luck
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0025.png
Beppu watching his companions ride away

Intermediate Sprint 2 the breakaway makes no effort at winning the intermediate sprint. Hunt (BMC), Lagutin (AGR) and Vandborg are the top 3
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0026.png
Hunt leading the breakaway past the second Intermediate

46 km Beppu is finally back with the breakaway but the gap to the peleton is now 3'27"
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0027.png
the BOTD being formed after 90 km

20 km with 20 km to go the breakaway has a lead of 1'45" on the peleton so the stage will end in a mass-sprint while the peleton is leaded by mainly Garmin
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0028.png
the break being caught and the a group being dropped

12 km The first person to try to get away from the breakaway is Vandborg (SAX), Willems (OLO) and Pate (HTC) however because of the high pace there can't get away

4 km The breakaway has been caught but the peleton has been splint in two.

3 km The trains are now making speed
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0029.png

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0030.png

1,5 km Van Avermaet (SKY), Haussler (GRM), Bennati (LEO), Davis (AST), Hunter (RSH), Farrar (MOV), Paolini (KAT), Feillu (VAC) are going to decide who wins the stage
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0031.png

1 kmVan Avermeat is still leading

Tour Down Under Stage 2

After the stage win of Greg van Avermaet yesterday everbody will be looking at him and Team Sky to lead the peleton today. but enough about today's stage:
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0041-1.png
again the stage is fairly easy so we expect a sprint finish today again.
***Farrar (MOV), Freire (RAB), Greipel (QST)***
** Bennati (LEO), Davis (AST), McEwen (RAB), Feillu (VCD), Rojas (MOV)**
*Ventoso (MOV), Haussler (GRM), Hunter (RSH), Brown (RAB), Ciolek (QST), Boasson Hagen (MOV), Chicchi (LIQ), Van Avermaet (SKY)*

before the stage started the manager of Fly V Australia said that he was expecting some effort this time
Spoiler
meaning I'm going to play seriously now, that doesn't say much thoughWink

and after 30 km we see that the breakaway has formed containing M. Sieberg (QST), B. Lancaster (GRM), V. Reynés (OLO), M, Montaguti (AGR), J.A. Jorgensen (SAX), M. De Maar (AST), A. Pérez (EUS), M. Santambrogio (LAM), G. Rast (HTC), J. Sagan (LIQ), Paolini (KAT), T. Meyer, A. Dowsett (BMC).

the habit of not sprinting continueted today so the intermadiate sprints and the moutain sprints were giving away however Marc de Maar was the only one who tried for the mountain jersey sprint but fell short

Intermedaite sprint 1: 1st B. Lancaster (QST), 2nd M. Sieberg (GRM), 3rd V. Reynés (OLO)

Mountain sprint: 1st V. Reynés (OLO), 2nd L. Paolini (KAT), 3rd G. Rast (HTC), 4th M. Santambrogio (LAM), 5th J.A. Jorgensen (SAX)

Intermediate Sprint 2: 1st M. De Maar (AST), 2nd G. Rast (HTC), 3rd J. Sagan (LIQ)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0042-1.png, i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0043-1.png, i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0044.png

with 30 km to go the breakaway is still 3'18" in the lead and the because of it several teams has started working together: Rabobank and Garmin-Cervelo are the main trains for the peleton

with 13 km to go the gap is still over 2'00" but Santambrogio (LAM) think that he can solo to the end however he didn't make it clear from the breakaway

2 km the trains are setting up while the breakaway is still clear, it can go either way
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0045.png
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0046.png

1,3 km It looks like an battle between Samtambrogio (LAM) and J. Sagan (LIQ)
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0047.png

0,8 km Samtambrogio (LAM) is still leading with Rast (HTC), Sagan (LIQ) and Reynes (OLO) following close behind

0,6 km Rast (HTC) has took over Samtambrogio (LAM)
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0049.png

finish Gregory Rast (HTC-Highroad) Wins the Second Stage of the Tour Down Under, and again the peleton woke up to late.
i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0050.png

Samtambrogio has to be happy with second while J. Sagan gets third. The winnar of the sprint of the Peleton is Greipel but it's only for 14th place, not really worth it.

The Pace at the end was so severe that many riders has lost contact with the peleton including Points jersey wearer Danny Pate (HTC)
