About one month ago we already presented our 2014 jersey made by OlegTinkov. And as he made also nice equipment for our team, we just have to present those.
No big surprise that we keep using bikes from Stevens. We have made great experience with those and are happy to stay with the small German bike manufacturer. And we also want to be a part of them to become more known in professional road cycling.
Also Trigema stays as a co-sponsor for all textile products as also Unilever as an international brand to show our international focus next to the main core from Germany/Netherlands and surroundings.
And as you can see the red of the actual Rothaus logo is totally gone in 2014 as the Aegon blue starts to become the main colour. |

Going from PCT to PT surely a lot of things will change. Having no top climber yet, this is definitely one thing to improve in the transfer season. Also a better cobbler is needed, while the team only feels comfortable in the sprints with Vantomme and the hillier terrain with Bellis/Geschke/Boom.
Those four, who were the main part of promotion, are not guaranteed a spot in the team even though the offer would need to be very, very good as the team was happy with all four and can imagine to keep them also in the Pro Tour.
Our young talents are our core for the future. So almost 100% sure, that those will stay with us. Other riders that had no leader role so far but also don`t belong to the talents anymore are still having a question mark. The team will carefully check their chances to help the team.
So let`s have a closer look on the roster.
Definitely staying
Daan Olivier
Kristian Sbaragli
Davide Villella
Thomas Koep
Alexander Krieger
Most likely staying
Maxime Vantomme
Lars Boom
Jonathan Bellis
Simon Geschke
Johim Ariesen
Maximillian Schachmann
Arnaud Grand (might be loaned)
Alexander Edmondson (might be loaned)
Not decided yet
Rob Ruijgh
Michiel Van Aelbroeck
Jesus Tendero
Xavier Zabalo
Martin Velits
Andrei Kunitski
Paul Voss
Probably leaving
Valentin Iglinski
Aurelien Passeron
Leaving
Claudio Cucinotta
Christoff Van Heerden
Hannes Blank

Surprised to see you are considering selling Boom.
Hopefully I'll be able to come with a decent offer for Ruijgh during the transfers

As said. Those leaders are very unlikely to leave. But you never know what kind of offer comes during transfers.
Ruijgh`s situation might have changed since promoting to PT. I need a better climbing team obviously and riders like Ruijgh, Koep, Olivier, Voss can be solid helpers on a low contract. In PCT I wouldn`t have necessarily focussed the mountains in 2014 and instead could have waited for Olivier/Koep to develop a bit more. |

Simon Geschke may well prove to become a priority target of the team

After narrowly missing out on Geschke during the last transfer season he might be a target for the new Team Hornbach for the 2014 season. That is if he doesn't switch to the PT with Rothaus of course.

Not overly surprising as I think Boom (and, to an extent, Geschke) are only worth half as much in PT as in PCT.

A rider like Boom is useful in PT. Look at Posthuma.
Spoiler I mean... no it's not. Sell him to me, roturn

Boom and Geschke indeed should perform better in PCT. But Boom is good to have for all TTT`s and in races like Northern Europe for example.
Geschke actually could be a nice "sprinter" for the 2014 Giro. So is Bellis.
Finally updated the full list of rider results and full podiums on the first page.
Did not have time yet to update full race results for all races so far. Will try to get this done before making a 2014 HQ.

Boom scored excellently back in the Virgin Media - Caisse days, but then again, he did have an excellent manager
Keep him Roturn, he needs to be back in the PT!

I heard that Vantomme and Boom would like to join Lotto, I don't know where I heard this from.

At least I know that Puma and Adira want Ciolek, it seems Rothaus doesn't?

Sponsors unhappy with team goals?
The joy was huge after promoting to the Pro Tour. But this is already a while ago and now reality is back. It`s time for the team goals and this is always a difficult thing when not knowing the exact roster for the season.
In the case of Rothaus - Aegon this is gambling on the possibility to get a needed stage racer or cobbler to perform in those races. Obviously it`s hard to set the team goals then for those races.
It`s not published yet what the exact goals will be but rumours are saying, that the sponsors are not very happy about the outcome. Being a Pro Tour team makes you ride the biggest German races Deutschland Tour and Rund um Köln. But apparently the team manager decided to not go for those races, which led to some surprises for the German main sponsor Rothaus. Also Aegon is said to be a bit disappointed to not find a Dutch race on the goal list.
Will this influence the sponsor`s trust into the team? An insider denies this saying that the management informed the sponsors about their reasons and all parties did understand. Also they were guaranteed that all German and Dutch races will be very important and are going to have some of the strongest riders at the start. Still there is definitely a negative connotation and the sponsors surely will follow those races very carefully now. |
