Why are they needed again? Heard lots of bad stuff about them the weeks I've been in the US, but what happened to the usual ones?
The contract expired between the NFL and the refs association, and they can't agree on a new deal... Money basically

Gosh, NHL and NFL with such issues? Don't they ever talk, like, a year before these contracts expire?

They dont like to be "distracted" with their current work.

Are you kidding me. Stilling fuming over the lost to the Titans... I'm almost possitive Shaun Hill picked up that first down on that QB sneak. How do you mark the ball backwards a yard if it is clear as day he moved at least a foot forward!?! Heck of a game though, I was jumping and screaming when Titus Young caught the Hailmary.

I have very few knowledge of American Football apart from knowing the rules, but that was a clear interception at the last Seahawks play for me?
An incredibly amazing way to end that - otherwise pretty lame - game (for which I stayed up until 6am by the way ), especially for an unbiased spectator like me, but it's a real bummer it was a completely wrong decision in my opinion.
One guy on Twitter sums it up nicely:
"This is terrible football. But it's incredible TV."

Well Golden Tate had a hand on it but the packers guy did have the ball. It comes down more to the replacement refs... they are too good. On an unrelated note what kind of name Golden? |

The replacement refs are horrible. The NFL wants us to live with it. And that's the way it will be.

Unfortunately that is probably the correct answer

Well, The US new Top Drama (or Soap Opera or whatever you wanna call it) is nowadays called NFL Football Sunday with the Spin-Offs NFL Football Sunday, Monday and Thursday! And it probably has the highest ratings n the history of a Drama TV-Show as it runs on several channels simultaneously!

Wow, Bills play alot better than the pats have all season... We are screwed, even though we have Vollmer this season... Ah well, we just go through in a very low position in the season and pick up Björn Werner in the Draft to strengthen the D even more!
But honestly, when was the last time the Pats started with 1-3 into the season? And another one for the statistic fans: When did Brady start any season (High School and College) with a 1-3 record?

Just out of curiosity, how do you rate the Germans? Cause we don't get to read anything about them in our media obviously...

I remember just before the superbowl against the giants they had a tiny piece in the Kölner stadt anzeiger about him saying essentially that he is from germany, vital for the pats and get that: You have to hate him because he is from Düsseldorf and not Cologne (PS. My parents live in germany)
Vollmer is actually a very important piece for the Patriots... I remember that they were switching around the tackles with Solder and another guy and both werent really a good replacement for Vollmer. He is so important cause he protects Bradys open side (= the right side, since Brady is a rightie) but after Light retired there was also talk about him covering the Blind Side in order to not leave Brady's back in the hands of the rather inexpierienced Nate Solder...
As for Werner: Ive seen 2 Games of the Seminoles so far, and their defense is probably the more influencial part why Florida state is ranked 4th in both polls in the country... Though their offense is very strong too. But from the games that i have seen (not just the seminles but also some Big10 and a Alabama Game) I have to agree with the associated Press, that Werner is the best Defensive Lineman in College Football at the moment. And according to Bleacherreport articles featuring the opinion of Michael Lombardi, Werner is projected to go amongst the first 10 picks in the upcoming draft. And he'll only be the second non Kicker from germany in the NFL (Vollmer being the first). Before Vollmer, the last german was a no-name soccer player who played kicker for the dolphins in the 90's...

Well disappointing loss. Leg-o-Tron as he's now know missed 3 field goals, but i guess if its any consolation, on the last play he tried a 66 yard field goal and definitely had the distance, but missed just right.
