Depart.
Todays breakaway at the first intermediate sprint. Including the german oldstar Jens Voigt, Jérôme Pineau and Aleksandr Kuschynski.
Aleksandr Kuschynski (Liquigas) 5
Cameron Meyer (Garmin) 3
Volodymyr Zagorodny (Miche) 2
The Goraiolo, a hard mountain with 8,5 km and an average of 6,8%, was not such a big challenge today, because the pack did not push much and expect 20-30 rider, including Greg Henderson and Francesco Chicchi, all came over the mountain.
Volodymyr Zagorodny (Miche) 5
Jens Voigt (Saxo Bank) 3
Jérôme Pineau (QuickStep) 1
A little overview over today's circuit.
The second intermediate sprint, 500m before the real finish.
Jens Voigt (Saxo Bank) 5
Sascha Modolo (Colnago-CSF) 3
Aleksandr Kuschynski (Liquigas) 2
The break with 31,7 km to go, and still 3 minutes in front.
Jérôme Pineau (Quick Step) 5
Francsico José Ventoso (CarmioOro) 3
Mauro Corti (Footon) 2
Just 18 km before the finish, and they still have 1'25". But Lampre and Rabobank work hard at the pack, and more rider could not held contact with the pack. Also Machado and Zubeldia (both are not really in shape).
Acceleration by Kuschynski, Voigt and Pineau. Even Klöden is not able to stay in the pack. Another disastrous stage in March.
Kuschynski and Voigt try all, but no chance to create a bigger gap.
Still 70 rider in the pack, and just one from RadioShack (Steegmans). But he is too tired to sprint for the stage win.
It was a hard stage, and it seems that just puncheurs could sprint for the stage. Kolobnev and Vinokourov in front.
Óscar Freire came from behind with high speed, but even he was not able to reach Kolobnev, who win todays stage!
The result:
1.) Alexandr Kolobnev (Katusha) 4h21'07"
2.) Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) s.t.
3.) Óscar Freire (Rabobank) s.t.

Your riders should be given some freedom now that they are down on the GC.
Keep up the good work. |

Hey, thank you all I try my best here, and I'm proud that you like this story here.
@Tuco the Ugly
In Paris-Nice, I think I let them work for Yaroslav Popovych, maybe I can reach the Top 10, but I will also send rider in the breakaway.
Tirreno-Adriattico Well, Klöden already with 1'30" down... I will try to compete with Steegmans in flat stages (He, Rosseler and Vaitkus has already a shape ~90), but I will not work for one rider in the GC. I hope i can get one in a break. It could be interesting
@Giroalberto
Thank you (:
@FreitasPCM
Yeah... But I hope I can get better results soon.
@Pellizotti2
Thank you Words like that always motivate me
@beagle
Yes, Machado ride his first race 2010 in T-A (so a bad shape), Klöden and Zubeldia has something around 70. Leipheimer also poor, but he will be successfull at the Giro.
Just Steegmans, Vaitkus, Rosseler and Brajkovic with a shape over 85, but Brajkovic disappointed, and the other three prepare them for Mailand-San Remo and the cobble classics.
A little announcement: At the start of the weekend, holiday starts, and between the 9. October and the 16. October, I am away and will not able to continue here.
Next update: Tomorrow afternoon Stage 6 of Paris-Nice, and maybe in the evening Stage 3 Tirreno-Adriatico.

12. March
Paris - Nice
Stage 6: Pernes-les-Fontaines - Aix-en-Provence
A flat stage, expect the Col de Murs, but normaly, the sprinter survive here and sprint for the win. The hilly last 2 kilometers could also be interesting for sprint-puncheurs.
Team mission:
- Lost no time (Popovych, Brajkovic, Leipheimer)
- Get in the breakaway
- Top 10 with Daryl Impey
Favourites: Tom Boonen, Philippe Gilbert, Heinrich Haussler, Thor Hushovd, Mirko Lorenzetto, Matti Breschel
My tip: If he is not too tired after yesterday, Tom Boonen will show his power in the sprint. |

Depart, today in Pernes-les-Fontaines
After 40 km, the Col de Murs waits for the rider. The break get the points, most importent are Markus Fothen, Brent Bookwalter, Romain Sicard and Jason McCartney.
Markus Fothen (Milram) 7
Aleksejs Saramotins (Colombia) 5
Romain Sicard (Euskaltel) 3
Gatis Smukulis (AG2R) 2
Arnaud Coyot (Caisse D'Epargne) 1
The Côte de Lacoste.
Markus Fothen (Milram) 4
Gatis Smukulis (AG2R) 2
Francisco Javier Aramendia (Euskaltel) 1
Markus Fothen really wants the Polka Dot Jersey, he attacks again before the top of the hill. If he get also the next, he has it.
Markus Fothen (Milram) 4
Gatis Smukulis (AG2R) 2
Matthias Brändle (Footon) 1
The first intermediate sprint today, in Lourmarin.
Matthias Brändle (Footon) 3
Gatis Smukulis (AG2R) 2
Markus Fothen (Milram) 1
58 km before the finish, and the break still with 6'44" in front! It seems that the break will win today.
In Rognes, the break with 6'30" in front.
Matthias Brändle (Footon) 3
David Vitoria (Footon) 2
Gatis Smukulis (AG2R) 1
And Markus Fothen get the mountain jersey! After another acceleration at the Côte de Saint-Canadet, he finishes his good work today.
Markus Fothen (Milram) 4
Ian Stannard (Sky) 2
David Vitoria (Footon) 1
The stage win will go to one of these fourteen rider, the pack is to far behind to caught them.
13900 meter before the finish, and Ian Stannard accelerates! But he has no chance.
Romain Sicard with a powerful attack! The other had to work to caught him.
The sprint of the break begin, Bookwalter in front, McCartney at his backwheel. But McCarteny losts speed, no energy left for the fight of the stage win.
He even lost contact... In front now Blot, who accelerates and seems unbeatable.
No one was as fast in the sprint as Guillaume Blot, who celebrate his first win 2010!
With 1'14" back, the pack cames in.
The result:

Boonen`s 60km/h looks like the "stopping immediately in front of the line" bug. |

I did not really look at them, sorry. But it seems so, I hate that bug
@sobota
Maciej Bodnar also finished 11th in the prolog of Paris-Nice, he does well. |

just had a good catch up on the story after a week away from it. looking good. shame you have lost time with kloden and leipheimer in your races. they would have been good gc contenders before it all. maybe you can put in a good attack on one stage (with a hill/mountain terrain) and you can get that time back and put them in contention again!
keep up the good work though

Really too bad But maybe Popovych can reach the Top10, so Paris-Nice is not such weak as Tirreno-Adriatico... I do not have really ambitions in the GC there, but maybe I should try it...

Tirreno - Adriatico
Stage 3: San Miniato - Monsummano Terme, 152,8 km
Easy stage if you do not look at the last 40 km. The I Papi and the San Boronto will be a hard challenge for the sprinter and those rider which are not in shape yet.
Team mission:
- Lost no time (Klöden)
- Get in the breakaway)
- (Sprint) Top 5 with Steegmans.
Favourites: Marc Cavendish, Óscar Freire, Alessandro Petacchi, Gert Steegmans, André Greipel, Robbie McEwen.
My tip: The stage is too hard for the sprint-specialists, so a allrounder will win, probably Óscar Freire or Allan Davis.

Depart in San Miniato.
The break at the top of the San Baronto, including rider like Serguei Ivanov, Martin Maaskant, Niki Terpstra and of course Haimar Zubeldia! They are 5'00" in front.
The break in the forests of Pescia. The break takes the points.
Haimar Zubeldia (The Shack) 5
Niki Terpstra (Milram) 3
Serguei Ivanov (Katusha) 2
The pack started to push, Colombia and Lampre work hard for their sprintspecialists (Petacchi and Cavendish).
The I Papi were hard, but all can survived it. Ivanpv attacked for the points.
Serguei Ivanov (Katusha) 5
Laurent Beuret (CarmioOro) 3
Niki Terpstra (Milram) 1
Did not look well for the front group, the peleton forced and probably a sprinter will win today.
And now the deciding moment, the San Baronto. The break split in little groups, just Serguei Ivanov was strong enough to hold the speed.
Serguei Ivanov (Katusha) 5
Niki Terpstra (Milram) 3
Laurent Beuret (CarmioOro) 1
10000m before the finish. Only Ivanov and Terpstra, both strong classic rider, are in front, (Zubeldia had himself fallen back) but the pack seemed not to let them go for the victory.
The peloton now in front. RadioShack seemed good today, just Fumiyuki Beppu (who is not such a strong rider) and Tiago Machado (with -5) could not hold up.
A masssprint today. Steegmans looks not to tired for a Top10.
The sprint begun. Greg van Avermaet accelerates first, but he was to early in front. Steegmans gots tired, but maybe a Top10 is still in front.
Flame rouge! Steegmans could hold himself in a good position. In front Van Avermaet, but Daniele Bennati and Óscar Freire at his backwheel came from behind with amazing speed.
And the two sprintstars showed their power! Such a close finish... Luca Paolini also fast, he took the backwheel from Freire and could make a thrid place.
With just a few millimeter, Óscar Freire could beat Daniele Benatti. Too bad for him.
The other came in. Marc Cavendish with a powerful sprint, but to late for a better position. Gert could made a seventh place, and after that hills, I did not thought he could get such a good place.
The result:
1.) Óscar Freire (Rabobank) 3h39'47"
2.) Daniele Bennati (Liquigas) s.t.
3.) Luca Paolini (Acqua & Sapone) s.t.
4.) José JoaquÃn Rojas (Caisse D'Epargne) s.t.
