Hi I´m new in the forum and i´m also new in PCM i have never played it before and so i did some researching and now i know how to maintain the good spirit of the team, maintain the finances and other things. But my issue is that when i go to a race i really don´t know what to do to win it and my team has always very bad times, i would like to know what do i have to do to win time and end in 1º, like who o i have to protect when do i have to attack or with who do i have to attack and others things to win. I would like to know what the bottoms do and the little green bar close to the name of the player and what the bar that have 0-100 do.
Thanks for reading and please help me with my questions.
Thanks and good luck with the game
Theres a image so you can answer me quickly by potting 1-and what it does.

Some of these things are explained (if only briefly) in the manual, but i'll try to explain something here.
1. This is the energy gel. It's hardly the most important thing, bur it can give your rider a boost for whenever he's going to attack. When pressed it will flash red/yellow a little while later, and I think the yellow bar (the riders energy) will drain slower, so he'll be able to ride a little harder.
2. This is perhaps the most important part of the race. This is used to determine your rider's effort. at 99% he'll go all out, whereas he'll do as little as possible at 1%. At 0% he'll simply stop and drop out of the race. It is connected to 4, 5 and 6 as well.
3. This is a rider's daily form. At any day he'll get an arrow indicating how he feels at that particular moment. Later he'll get a grey number (-5 - 5), and finally he'll get a coloured number. The higher the number the better his daily form. The idea is, that the rider can't tell exactly how well he's going at first, but later on, he'll know more.
4. Independent effort. This will make the rider ride at his own pace, thus completely ignoring the pace of others. His pace is determined by the effort bar (2). The harder he goes (>50%) the quicker his energy (yellow bar) will drop.
5. Short relay. This will make the rider participate in leading his group. He will take short turns in front. The higher his effort bar, the harder he will ride when his turn. If his effort is low, he might not participate, because many riders go faster, but he will try to hang on.
6. Infinite relay. The rider will take long (infinite) turns in front. It works pretty much as short relay, but energy will be drained faster, because he takes longer turns. In turn (if a good rider) he might drain his opponents as well.
Look through this forum, there's some decent guides on tactics, but one thing I notice is, that your riders haven't got anything to drink (left to the energy gel). Make sure you send teammates back to get drinks (right to the infinite relay), so no one runs out, or they'll be shit. |

#7 is for protecting other teammates. If you press the little black shield next to 7 it will change the riders interface and will display 2 arrows for each rider. For example if you have Contador doing a race and don't want him to use much energy early on, choose someone you want to protect him with and click on his arrow until Contadors name appears then click the checkmark, this will make the rider move up to Contador and sit in front of him therefore blocking the wind for Contador. I usually use this to protect my GC contendors or sprinters so they are more fresh when the attacks/sprints start to take place. It helps

It is important not to run out of energy, as you'll most likely not win without it (unless you have a big gap). It's hard to win if you don't have the best riders, in which case, it'd be smart no to initiate attacks on your own. Counter attacking is important, you'll lose your punch (red bar) slower, and can therefore attack for longer and create gaps. But like I said, it's very important not to run out of yellow energy.
Again check the general forum for specific tactics. There's lots to be found. |

Well it helps if you know which riders are dangerous and which aren't. For mountain/hilly stages I usually wait until the favorites start attacking to attack with my GC contendor. After that, it's just playing tactics to see who can come up with the win. Sprints, to me, are more complicated but much more fun... First you need your star sprinter, then a good sprinter, and then 2 riders with good flat skills. When the >S icon appears it means that you can start setting up your train. So put your star sprinter on >S behind your good sprinter, then have your good sprinter >S behind your best flat rider, then have your best flat rider >S behind your second best flat rider and have your second best flat rider use the dot effort level at 99 to move up to the front of the pack (Make sure all of your riders have their effort bar at 99 and bare in mind that I do this on hard mode lol you might not need to do this on normal mode or easy). You're riders should be at the front and they should look like a train of 4 riders. Once your second best flat rider at the front runs out of energy put your BEST flat rider on the dot at 99 effort. By this time you should be 7 km or so from the finish. He should last until about 3-4 km left unless he has bad fitness. Once the S button pops up, click that button with your good sprinter to begin the sprint. He should jump off the flat riders wheel and start the maddash for the line. With about 1-2 km left, FINALLY click the S button with your star sprinter and he should take off at the fastest he can go and hopefully win, If thats too complicated (it was for me at first) just keep trying at it. Like I said this usually isn't needed if you don't play on hard or extreme. Good luck though!

Well, yeah, if your rider is not "the best". If you're a favourite, but not top 3, then i'd say that's the way to go. If you're doing well (high yellow and red bar) you can attack on your own, but otherwise i'd counter untill close to the finish. Again, if you're having great daily form (4/5), you might be able to crack everyone by either infinite relay or attack.
Pretty much look at the rider's stats. The worse your rider (compared to the others), the more you'll need to make them work, if you want to win |

That sound´s like a good tactic for the final sprint i will try to do it well thanks.
One last thing how do i prevent my riders to be very tired because in the end of the race they haven´t almost nothing left in the yellow bar and they are always in 50% in the effort bar and i don´t do any attacks or nothing (im playing in LIQUIGAS) and even the best are almost without yellow bar.
And what should i do to try to maintain the yellow and red bars when i´m in a mountain they all get very tired in mountain parts.
Thanks to all !

Putting your riders in the back of the peloton saves a little energy (because they don't ride as fast as the riders who ride at the front of the peloton). But when you want to sprint, you'll have to bring your riders up front before the sprint starts.
Next to that, it's important for your riders to be in good shape. Therefore you need each rider to have a good training program. The better their condition, the better they will perform in races. Briefly, condition is determined by the riders' training and the amount of races the rider participated in the past days/weeks.
Your best riders for flat stages won't have much problem keeping up with the pelotons' pace if they're in good shape. |

And one last thing in mountain i do the same to maintain the bars ? |

I'll make some images in my next post about how to effectively ride a flat stage (including sprint), as it'll be easier to explain and understand.
When it comes down to mountain stages it's a bit different, depending on the course. At first, when the peloton isn't riding very fast it's possible to put your riders at the back to:
1) safe energy (although the energy saved will be very slim compared to putting your riders somewhere in the middle or up front of the peloton)
2) the rider that will bring fresh water won't have to waste alot of energy
Later on in a mountain stage (depending on the course), it's best to start climbs up somewhere at the front. Not completely at the front, but somewhere about second or third row, because you don't want to sit at the back of the peloton (or group of favorites) with your best (mountain) rider when the riders for the rankings attack. If you do, it'll take your rider way to much energy to counter attack or attack on a climb, due to the gap between your rider and the rider at the front of that group.

Independent effort and effort 5-25%. When they're close to the back, put them on the "Hold Position" again.
To move them to the front again, simply put independent effort again and effort 70-99% |

Here are some pictures to start a flat race..
1)
First i always put my men on front, as it helps having an overview of your riders. Select your riders (they're all automatically selected at the beginning of each race if you don't click anything) and then click on the button with the arrow. You don't have to change the effort bar.
2)
https://i50.photob.../flat2.jpg
When your riders get in position at front (one by one), you click on the 'hold position' button, left on the bottom.
3)
https://i50.photob.../flat3.jpg
Now it's time to protect your sprinter. Just select a helper and click with the right mouse click on your sprinter. In my case it's farrar. Then click on the image/button with the shield to protect him.
4)
https://i50.photob.../flat4.jpg
Select your sprinter and click on the arrow. Set the effort of your sprinter down to 5 - 10, as you'll see he'll drop to the back of the peloton.
5)
https://i50.photob.../flat5.jpg
When your rider is nearly at the back of the peloton you click on the 'hold position' button and change the effort bar of your sprinter back to ~50 or higher.
About 40 km before the finishing line you can put your sprinter up front by clicking the arrow button and changing the effort bar to 90. If that doesn't work, try 99. When he's somewhere up front you can click the hold position button again and make sure you hold the effort bar of your sprinter around ~90.
