Four flat stages await the PCT’s and CT’s best sprinters in Guadeloupe. With both previous winners in Groenewegen and Jakobsen not in the field, we’ll see a new winner this year, but a look at the top favourites suggests there are a few names who could potentially be stood on the podium at the end of day 4 here:
| FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | Coquard | 73 | 71 | 74 | 84 | 83 | Ewan | 75 | 73 | 71 | 83 | 81 | Demare | 72 | 74 | 71 | 81 | 80 | Farantakis | 74 | 75 | 72 | 81 | 80 | Zabel | 74 | 74 | 70 | 81 | 79 | Vesely | 73 | 74 | 68 | 81 | 80 | Ahlstrand | 72 | 71 | 70 | 81 | 79 | Bonifazio | 79 | 68 | 75 | 80 | 80 | Aniolkowski | 76 | 76 | 74 | 80 | 79 | Liu | 74 | 76 | 69 | 80 | 80 | Kamberaj | 75 | 73 | 73 | 79 | 78 | Afewerki | 73 | 77 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Kennett | 75 | 73 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Nur Hasan | 74 | 74 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Willwohl | 73 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | Hodeg | 72 | 69 | 74 | 79 | 78 |
Coquard and Ewan are the clear favourites in this field, but as we know being the best sprinter in a race like this doesn’t always lead to success. Ewan may have the slight edge with Contreras and Baska a more reliable lead out on paper than Jimenez Retana and Huertas.
In the next tier of favourites are a mix of riders who have stood on the podium here before, such as Demare (2nd in 2023) and Ahlstrand (3rd in 2022), and other PCT sprint mainstays who have had solid if unspectacular results here in the past, such as Zabel and Vesely, plus a newcomer in Farantakis. Zabel and Farantakis come with slightly stronger sprint trains than the other riders in this tier, which could prove helpful if their teammates decide to support them in the stage finales.
Further down the favourites list there are other riders who have taken top 5 overall finishes here in the past in Bonifazio, Aniolkowski and Kamberaj who will be looking for a repeat. However, of the riders in this tier only Kamberaj and Nur Hasan seem to have a decent sprint train at their disposal – though of course they may find themselves surfing wheels anyway.
Reports to follow from roturn - posting the preview early in case I don't get chance tomorrow!

Thanks for the preview!
Maybe Hofstetter can get something, but we're mostly here to show something to the French spectators, and for the youngster to ride.

Ok Niccolò, I don't like you and you don't like me. Let's just get this over with.

We won't do anything more than breakaways here, but there's worse places in the world to do that

Filler race for us don't expect to be up there in any of the sprints and really need to be in the breakaways sent some good flat riders but as we know it's just pure luck at the end of the day |

We're not here but I will still be following the sprints, could be a pretty big race for a lot of teams considering the big guns that have been brought!

Excited for the first PCT sprinter shootout of the season! Qatar hasn’t really shown much of what to expect yet, although the top-2 sprinters there are 1-2 in GC so that may bode well for ISA and Mananda. They also both have great trains, which Mananda is lacking a little bit.
I expect Anionkowski and Kamberaj to have great races, and hope that Nur Hasan can do well in his first leadership opportunity. The game seemed to like him last year the few times he raced alone, so this will be a good test for him. If he could bring home a top-10 GC and sprint in even just two of the stages, that’ll be huge for us. Good luck to all and thanks for the preview jph!

Hodeg once again far down the list (nothing we didn't expect), but as long as he actually competes in the sprints there's a chance for a lower GC result. But our best hopes are probably our 7 young riders who all have decent FL and / or SP/ACC and could get us some U25 points from the breaks. At least they shouldn't be on chasing duty ...

Thanks jph for the preview!
Another chance for Liu (or possibly Zingle) to rake in some points.
Looks like tough competition so any result is welcome!

Well, at least we won't suffer any leader not sprinting bugs

Happy to see things working out nicely here with a bunch of top sprinters fighting it out. Obviously pleased with 2nd behind Coquard also. Strong team effort with a lot of riders in top 30. A bit weird to see Boutopoulos of all of them dropping the pack. Doesn’t matter though.

Congrats to DW for the great start of the race! Hodeg also did well enough, if he continues this way a GC top 10 could be within reach. If our youngsters get into the breaks too it could turn out as a decent race for us.

Wait! Did I just see a successful lead out ?
Kennett just too far back these first 2 stages. One good result is all he needs for a decent GC though

Well that was our own fault. We got boxed in while trying to create a train while the other train was succesful. I like that “mistake” a lot more than sprinting too early to fade away.

The video really shows how Bonifazio ruined a very good position by starting his sprint too late, so thanks for that
Nonetheless it's a good result here and we climb a good bit in the GC. Congrats to ISA with that impressive sprint train!

Not really happy with Liu's performance so far. But it can all change with one good result
Good to see top sprinters like Coquard and Ewan delivering here.
Thanks for the short video!

Stage 1 wasn't good. Stage2 was better. More of the latter please.
Favourites winning sprint stages, who are you PCM?
