National Championships 2023 Discussion

This thread is based on previous years

The regular season is now over and we've entered the post-season which consists of the World Championships and...the topic of this thread - the National Championships.

As the format from the years prior is working pretty well, the 2023 MGUCI National Championships will be based on the same formula.

In case you've forgotten and need a refresher, here's the procedure from previous years:

All teams will have 8 riders with gaps being filled by 'Generic Riders' with all stats being 55.

There are 24 teams for all races (including combined NC's), meaning that there will be teams consisting of solely generic riders in almost every race.


On the bigger nations with lots of nomminated riders there will be cuts based on the riders' strength in case of too many riders/teams. Therefore if a team had a single rider that was not made for the chosen terrain, there's a high chance to lose his NC spot in such case.

Should a team has more than 8 riders from a single nation, those riders were sorted in ascending order and a cut was made after the 8th rider. After that the remaining riders go to a second team or in extreme cases even third team to make sure all nominated riders from that team can participate.

The routes have been selected beforehand by the managers and can be found in the spoiler below.

Bit worried about the culture on the SEE Turtles team since they seem to be forcing their riders to change their last name to SEE Turtles. Mohammad SEE Turtles does have a ring to it. Smile.

While not required by management, SEE Turtles will provide a wage increase to any rider willing to legally change identity to represent the company. Official agreements yet to be made, but especially excited to welcome NC champions interested in a name change.

Disappointing to not really use our big numbers advantage at all there. I feel like it's one of those situations where the AI just doesn't quite understand all its options.

Nice to see Guldhammer get one more win, though with another decline coming, there may be no Danish NC jersey in the peloton next year, or a CT domestique at most.

Well if that isn't symbolic of the passing of the torch I don't know what is. Bagioli pulls out a win against a strong field with one rider in support. Great patience by the young guy to stay out of the attacks and save his energy for the finishing charge. And maybe having Affini there for support was the difference versus the solo riders.

Meanwhile Boswell, as the heavy favorite, with a whole team behind him manages probably 5th, maybe 4th. Which is either our worst or tied for worse performance by our team in a USA NC. Also means we are now 5/5 in finishing in the top 5 in the US NC without a win. Unfortunately Boswell's time with McCormick will draw to a close on another low.
