Glanbia are back and now they're PCT baby!
Manger MacC has declared the 2022 jersey "lucky" and the team will retain it for 2023.
Glanbia were founded in 2019. After four years of enjoyable but not very successful CT racing 2022 saw the team struck gold with a 3rd place in the CT.
This success was built on the signing of Andrew Talansky who smashed all previous Glanbia records. Talansky on his own wouldn't have been enough though and we must here pay our homage to the Time Trialing traditions of Glanbia and its contribution to the promotion victory.
Manager MacC has a mighty task to perform in 2023 given the aging profile of many of his top riders.
The sponsors have reiterated the core aim of the team- to promote Irish riders with a secondary focus on other English speaking countries outside Europe (especially the USA- sorry Ulrich)
As was the case last year the sponsors will allow riders from outside the target territories if MacC determines it absolutely necessary. This derogation wasn't used last year but given the huge challenge of PCT survival it can't be ruled out...

2019 was a promising debut for the Boys in Green. Freddy Cruz scored the team's first race win winning the Windhoek TT.
The end result was that the team just missed out on disband promotion. The Time trial theme was thoroughly established.
Highlights:
Freddy Cruz winning Windhoek TT. 2 Stage Wins ( Craddock, Ford) in Tour of America.
Low-points: A dismal home race in the Rás, A disapointing 12th in the Monterrey TT

2020 was the "difficult second album". Really slim picking...
Highlights: Stage Win in Tour of America, fun in the Vineyards
Low-point: Nearly everything else

2021..getting there. The arrival of Dan Martin saw a jump in performance even if there wasn't any victories
Highlights: Powerful mountain stage win by Dan Martin in Trentino and his 2nd in Tachira
Low points: Failing for a 2nd year in a row to win any races

Finally, getting to grips with this, we're promoted!
Highlights: Mainly Talanksy, Talansky, Talansky but Sean Downey became first Irishman to win a race too
Low points: That damn Rás and a poor Tour of America. Hurt losing our stage winning record

I still think the Dutch speak much better English than the Americans and therefore better match your criteria. And the Kiwis are almost as good.

Congrats on the promotion, well deserved and looking forward to how you expand and improve for the PCT and also to racing against you guys for the first time! As with last year I still really really like the jersey

Love to read it, love to hear it, love to see it! Welcome to pct! One good tip I could give is to totally abandon the time trialing aspect, as Zmorka is there already and he does not like any sort of competition.
Looking forward to race against my favourite Irish dwarves again, and I'm quite certain you can do nice things during the transfer season

Welcome to the Glanbia "who got renewed and who got sacked" post.
We present a renewed squad of 14 riders with a salary drop of €70k for these riders.
The eagle -eyed and die-hard fans will notice a number of legends missing. Glanbia regrets failing to conclude a contract for 2203 with the following riders, some by mutual consent, some because their demands were deemed unrealistic:
The salary change here with the departures of these riders is €485,000

In general, it is our intention to keep the renewed riders but as things develop plans could change of course.
When the time comes do not be afraid to ask...

Analysis:
A tough time for Glanbia. The idea was to keep what is useful but to be as brutal as necessary in culling. I tried to renew some of the non-renewed riders to try and sell on but found the demands too high and I decided I would rather start with a clean slate and lots of cap
Some old leaders like Downey will hang on but they are aware their role will be more as teammate this year

Sam Bennett is decline age? Damn, time is crazy.
Good renewals. Culled the old timers despite the pain of doing so (which I struggle with). Obviously you'll have work to do, but you have a good backdrop to add new leaders to.

55k seems like a great salary for Bennett, don't usually get that kind of deal in renewals, I guess poor season + decine.
Good to see the solid foundation for the TTT is still in place

Wow, as you say some huge names in the team's history gone now. Glad they could end on such a high note season for you guys. Seems like you have a lot of room to play with going into transfers

Lots of work ahead to make this a PCT team, but in true Glanbia fashion there is a starting point with the TT riders.

Sad to see Talansky not strong enough anymore to be useful, but he did his job very well for you last season. Quite an aggressive renewals strategy to let go of all those riders, but it definitely leaves a lot of room to build for PCT.

A cheap core of riders. Not a bad place to start. But you also do need some leaders obviously. Will be interesting to see if you'll pursue the FA or try to purchase your "gold"

Glanbia are proud to (re)present the Irish National Championship jersey. It passes from Sam Bennett to Sean McKenna (after a wash)
No pressure but if anybody feels inclined to design a jersey for NZ and Canadian TT champs it would be very appreciated!
