Welcome to the 10th edition of the Gisborne GP one day race. It looks like a bog standard hilly race, but at 225 km it certainly stands out among the CT races. The first 2/3 of the race are relatively easy, but the last third will challenge the riders with lots of ups and downs. The last three climbs are the longest and hardest, but the very finish is flatter. While the terrain is somewhat suited to a longer range attack, an uphill sprint is the more likely outcome. A strong kick in the end could prove vital.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| FL | MO | HI | ST | RS | AC | Moscon | 71 | 73 | 79 | 76 | 77 | 73 | Boswell | 70 | 71 | 80 | 77 | 73 | 76 | Juul-Jensen | 72 | 69 | 77 | 74 | 72 | 77 | Schlegel | 69 | 78 | 77 | 71 | 74 | 75 | Edmondson | 70 | 69 | 79 | 75 | 72 | 76 | Besada | 68 | 63 | 77 | 74 | 74 | 77 | Hoelgaard | 72 | 74 | 77 | 72 | 72 | 74 | Quevedo | 69 | 71 | 78 | 72 | 72 | 75 | Vliegen | 71 | 67 | 77 | 76 | 70 | 74 | Le Roux | 71 | 66 | 77 | 74 | 71 | 72 |
Moscon is back in CT where he has done his best work for Jura and comes in as one of the main favourites. Boswell should be his main competitor as he'll try to improve on 4th place from last season. Even after decline Juul-Jensen is one of the faster puncheurs and we know this race suits him with 5th place last year. Besada gives Pas Normal another good option. For Tryg we get a combination of Schlegel and Hoelgaard. We'll see which one they prioritise. Quevedo, Vliegen and Le Roux are all very competent riders also. All on newly established teams looking to start things with a bang!
| FL | MO | HI | ST | RS | AC | Watson | 70 | 65 | 78 | 76 | 72 | 72 | Le Gac | 70 | 69 | 77 | 73 | 74 | 69 | Senyenov | 70 | 62 | 77 | 68 | 73 | 73 | Budyak | 68 | 74 | 78 | 72 | 67 | 68 | Dieteren | 67 | 70 | 77 | 75 | 70 | 66 | Vogt | 73 | 62 | 80 | 78 | 71 | 63 | Svab | 70 | 71 | 76 | 70 | 72 | 78 | McKenna | 70 | 74 | 76 | 69 | 72 | 77 | Pacher | 70 | 71 | 75 | 73 | 74 | 73 | Schachmann | 66 | 67 | 75 | 74 | 69 | 78 |
Super domestiques and C2 eligible PCT riders fill out this list. Le Gac, Senyenov, Budyak and Dieteren all fall in the latter category. Watson and Vogt hopefully fulfill their roles as helpers or backup scoring options. Svab, McKenna and Schachmann are also interesting with their huge acceleration stat.

Woop woop! Start of the season! Lets goooooo!
Here with the obviously accurate prediction that new signing Abner Gonzalez rides away from everyone to win, with fellow debutant Connor White stealing second in a group sprint behind. That's after an all day solo-break from Le Court steals all the TV time.

Thanks for preview.
Hard to see McKenna hit the top 10 looking at his stamina but he'll try. Dunne and Haas might fancy an attack or taking over as leader if McKenna has a bad day

Juul-Jensen still on the favorites list after decline! Love to see it. Let's go JJ!

Thanks for the preview!
Guess if we get a really hard race in the final third, Schlegel should be the man to beat here, being by far the best climber among the puncheurs. However, I hope that resistance will matter on the final uphill, so Gianni could start the season in the best possible way. His support unfortunately isn't great here, as we clearly lack the depth on the hills - but Schmid will hopefully do a good job there
Good luck to everyone, enjoy the season - and thanks to red for bringing us the first CT race of the year

Let's go Budyak! His ACC may hurt him a bit, but with the MO/HI combo this should actually be a half decent race on paper to get the season started

After last years 7th place with Lilian Calmejane it will be hard to finish in top 10 for my team as they don't have extreme leader.
I think they will defenetly need agood speed and acc stat compare to last year as the groupof 9 riders came together to the finish.
Thanks for the preview

CT hills is a strong field and interested to see how it plays out. Obviously cheering for Edmondson to take the home win for BNZ
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Thanks for the previews, think Boswell is strong enough that his MT stat won't undermine him. Our support isn't great but it wasn't last year either and he took 4th.

We'll be hoping that Hoelgaard has enough in him to make this a harder race than it has been in the past few years, enough that Schlegel's hybrid characteristics come into play in one of just two classics he'll be taking part in this year.

Let's go!
We don't hope much here, mainly a warm-up and show our amazing jersey. But it's nice to finally race! |

Le Gac wasnt meant to be our hilly leader after the transfers, but I hope he can show something and not just be "another 77 main stat rider"

Pretty much the worst possible start to the season. No clue what happened there, Moscon was nowhere close to the front all day long. Already very much pissed after the first race of the year, great job team
Congrats to McCormick, Boswell was at least one level above the rest. But that result just looks so random, no idea how on earth the likes of Luchshenko, Barbero, Favilli or Wackermann could finish in the first group...

Boom boom Boswell, well done Ulrich.
Happy out too for Glanbia, 10th for McKenna and 14th for Dunne is above target.
Great to see Dan Martin give it a go ! ...and debut guy Ben Healy
Thanks for great report

Nice to see Bonello in the breakaway. Getting that Gucci on tape! I'm happy with this result. Vliegen was never a favorite or had any chance to win but 4th is an amazing result. I really hope my team can keep this form up!

Pretty solid start from the T3A boys & girls. Triple breakaway work for TV time, with Le Court scraping into the Top20 and even Orosco hanging on in 31st is a good ride. I mean, it does nothing really in terms of points, but at least we were visible - and that's all i can ask for this season.
