Welcome to the 6th edition of the Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy. The Thailand sprinter's classic has been moved back to the continental C1 race category. 181 km long it's a circuit race with 10 laps. There are a few minor bumps on the profile, but otherwise it's pretty much flat. A bunch sprint is the expected outcome.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Leadout | FL | RS | SP | AC | Jakobsen | 74 | 73 | 80 | 80 | Ovsyannikov | 72 | 72 | 77 | 76 | Cullaigh | 73 | 70 | 80 | 81 | Hayter | 74 | 75 | 71 | 72 | Bonifazio | 79 | 75 | 80 | 80 | Sajnok | 72 | 74 | 72 | 71 | Manninen | 74 | 75 | 81 | 80 | Ruiz | 74 | 68 | 71 | 72 | Silvestre | 78 | 71 | 80 | 81 | Okbamariam | 73 | 73 | 72 | 68 | Selig | 71 | 68 | 79 | 81 | Abraha | 72 | 71 | 74 | 72 | Guarnieri | 74 | 73 | 80 | 78 | Breen | 77 | 72 | 73 | 72 | Kennaugh | 77 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Kennett | 75 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Howard | 76 | 70 | 82 | 79 | Suryadi | 71 | 68 | 79 | 76 | Kump | 73 | 72 | 80 | 79 | Thwaites | 73 | 70 | 78 | 76 | Boudat | 73 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Habtom | 75 | 75 | 77 | 78 | Vanderbiest | 73 | 67 | 81 | 75 | Krieger | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | Colbrelli | 74 | 72 | 79 | 75 | Sbaragli | 76 | 70 | 77 | 78 |
Jakobsen is one of the main favourites. He's been excellent this season going up against PCT opposition. Cullaigh is another very good young sprinter with even more acceleration than the Dutchman. Bonifazio is rider with real power and he's elevated his performances as Lierse's sprint leader. Manninen has struggled over the last few weeks, but he's still one of the best sprinters around. Silvestre on the other hand has a had great season, mainly profiting from other teams mistakes. Selig is another sprinter from CT that can mix it up with the others. Guarnieri is getting a bit long in the tooth, but he's made his career winning races like this.
Just looking at pure sprinting ability Kennaugh has it all and has to be a serious contender. Similar with Howard who's had an up and down season so far. Kump would've have prefered a tougher profile, but he's still a classy rider. Boudat is a bit more of an underdog as he gets a chance to lead Jura. Vanderbiest is very much a hit or miss rider with his low acceleration. The same with Colbrelli who one could describe as a worse version of Vanderbiest.
All these sprinters have brought different leadout riders who could have a massive impact on the end result if utilised.
| FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Stocker | 75 | 71 | 73 | 76 | 77 | 65 | Ratto | 79 | 74 | 66 | 75 | 73 | 55 | Kuznetsov | 76 | 75 | 73 | 72 | 75 | 76 | Konychev | 77 | 74 | 74 | 73 | 71 | 73 | Nielsen | 75 | 71 | 75 | 73 | 71 | 64 | Meyer | 74 | 74 | 71 | 72 | 77 | 77 | Cimolai | 74 | 74 | 68 | 77 | 77 | 67 | Li | 75 | 73 | 68 | 75 | 75 | 64 |
Most teams here have brought sprinters as their main option to achieve a result. Gjensidige are sprinterless so their riders should have all the freedom to attack early and late in the race. Some of the teams who's sprinters might be considered as underdogs, might also have a few options to go on the attack.

Well, I’m not sure I wanted Jakobsen to have the favourites tag as he’s unlikely to succeed now
One of those where we could get another huge result to keep our season steamrolling onwards. It’ll be interesting to see which teams chase the breakaway and who gets the lead-outs going as well.
Always the threat of the late stage attacks to.
Should be a good one and thanks for the preview red!

I think the norm of teams with no support do best here - so Silvestre to continue his awesome season, or Mannien and Jakobsen to ruin his day. All I hope for is that we don’t make a fucking train
Thanks for the preview!

Looking forward to this race after the other two sprint classics went so well. It's a C1 race, so to really score Manninen would need to end up on the podium, which is obviously easier said than done.
Last year in PT a sprinter won it, but I really think this could be something for a late attack. The PT peloton was able to catch back the attackers on that final hill last year, I wonder whether this will be the case in a weaker (P)CT field as well.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for yet another preview, red

Thank you for the preview, we decided to do a big gamble here.
We are sending no sprinter and Eiking.
Ratto would be a perfect candidate for a late attack, but the dude is vaccineded against attacking. So im hoping a wierd AI function here, sending Eiking up the road on the bump, late in the race

ogog Silvestre! No Ewan and no Vesely is interesting, in general it's a relatively small field if I'm not mistaken. Should be interesting!

Did we just see a team make a train and win? In all seriousness, good signs and a much deserved win for Indosat!
Jakobsen solid enough with a 6th place. We’re happy enough with that as it keeps the points rolling in!
Thanks for the report red!!

Can't win em all I guess 7th is okay, still within our PpRD (eventhough Silvestre needs to be above that generally to compensate for our worse races). What's far worse though is that there are now two whole weeks without any races for us! That's terrible!
Congrats Eden! As LLS said, well deserved win. And thanks for the report of course

That backfired quickly. Well, somehow in a good way, as it seems like your team really wanted to prove you wrong. Congrats, great to see Howard on top!

Indosat with a train and a win? Now i've seen it all
Our little experiment failed big time, the two weakest riders ended up in the breakaway...
Also, thank you for the report

This really was a great win indeed by Indosat. Congratulations! Manninen in fifth is nothing spectacular points-wise, but it shows some consisteny in sprint classics, which is very nice. Together with some minor points for Quispe that does make 39 points and almost 20 pprd, we'll gladly take it as 'worst' sprint classic out of the recent three. Los Pollos is looking up again, carefully
Thanks for another clear sprint report, redordead!

Oh well, I've understood by now PCM20 doesn't like our sprinters. Don't ask me why.
(Obviously Boudat isn't great uphill, but still ^^)
At least loanee Morin secured a handful of points. Still waiting to come out on top of that lottery. Guess our jersey has the wrong colours, or our saddles are too soft? Something makes the AI dislike us... Well, forget this one and skip the next, or so.
Congrats to Eden, finally you've hit the sprint lottery jackpot for once!

And here we go to another failure. I will predict what will happen in this race with my team, 2 to 3 riders in pursuit of the break, unfortunately those riders will be Noppe and Kennett which in the final part will have a negative impact on Kennaugh's launch causing him to finish around the 8th place.
Thanks for the preview

Well thanks for the report! Another whiff from Kump, slowly but surely we're putting ourselves away from the title push that was in the cards at the start of the season, but time will tell!

I hadn't even seen that the report had already been posted lol.
I completely failed my prediction and luckily despite not having won this race it ended up going well because in addition to the 2nd place we managed to put two more riders in the top15
Thanks for the report

Well, there’s a first time for everything I guess
I have no idea how Howard managed to hold on after sprinting for the entire final km? That’s been a death sentence a while now. I guess he really didn’t like our future contract offer of a pie and coke I guess? Thanks also! Feels a little odd finally being on the right side of a die roll. Thanks for the report too red
