Thank you to Hillis for a fantastic preview!!!
Geraardsbergen-Bosberg

Preview
The calender has flipped, and the cobble season roles on. As many of the domestiques are dreaming of warmer weather and firmer tarmac. There are several riders who will line up tomorrow dreaming of suffering all the way to the line and the top of the podium.
Guillaume Van Keirsbulck is one of them, as he is here to try and extend his record of two wins, and make it a hattrick. The CT Cobble powerhouse Crabbe-CC Chevigny is here with their squad, aswell as Pieter Vanspeybrouck and Sep Vanmarcke. This will be no easy task for anybody looking to solo their way to glory.
The route stays the same, a circuit with two short and steep cobbled ascents. We have 11 laps in total and the finish line is atop the second hill. Cobblestone skills are obviously paramount, but if you’re not doing well uphill, you might struggle here. Historicly this race has been decided before the last accent to the finish. As it's only been decided once by a group sprint, in 2016.
| Rider | Time | | 2020 | D. Summerhill | 5h37'56 | Solo (+7) | 2019 | G. Van Keirsbulck | 5h59'48 | Solo (+ 2'02) | 2018 | Roger Kluge | 5h19'31 | Solo (+ 32) | 2017 | G. Van Keirsbulck | 5h09'26 | Solo (+ 32) | 2016 | K. De Haes | 5h02'52 | Group of 7 | 2015 | S. Langeveld | 5h07'49 | Solo (+ 28) |
Looking at the field, there is a lot of options as to who could be the first to cross the line. Having won two times before, Van Keirsbulck has to be the favorite. Vanspeybrouck, Vanmarcke, Richardson and Declerq will all be trying to make the last move and get rid of Van Keirsbulck before the final hill.
| | FL | HL | CB | ST | FT | Van Keirsbulck | 17' 19' | 72 | 71 | 78 | 73 | 71 | Vanspeybrouck | | 74 | 69 | 80 | 75 | 72 | Vanmarcke | | 75 | 65 | 79 | 75 | 64 | Richardson | | 71 | 67 | 78 | 68 | 75 | Declerq | | 74 | 73 | 77 | 73 | 78 |
Having other riders on their squad that might be considered the leader, the outsiders worth mentioning on the list is the riders below. This race can be blown way up, and being able to attack to create pressure on other teams. Can prove to be the solution, and it might go all the way. As they say, there is power in numbers.
| FL | HL | CB | ST | FT | Taubel | 73 | 65 | 78 | 69 | 72 | Puccio | 72 | 66 | 78 | 76 | 60 | Kolev | 75 | 62 | 77 | 73 | 71 | Naesen | 75 | 72 | 76 | 77 | 64 | Tsatevich | 74 | 77 | 75 | 74 | 66 |
You might feel some names are missing from the lists above, and you might be right. However, abilities as Stamina, Fighter and Hill can prove to be important aswell as teammates with high abilites. Although they might lack the total package, they can suprise the field and go all the way. As several of them are known to attack and ride aggressive.
| FL | HL | CB | ST | FT | Orue | 69 | 64 | 78 | 77 | 78 | Taillefour | 76 | 56 | 77 | 69 | 58 | Thwaites | 73 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 60 | Domene | 73 | 57 | 76 | 73 | 62 | Kristoff | 72 | 65 | 75 | 70 | 66 | Manakov | 77 | 58 | 75 | 77 | 65 | Ariesen | 75 | 68 | 75 | 74 | 71 | Kumara | 74 | 67 | 75 | 74 | 75 | Abraha | 72 | 64 | 75 | 70 | 67 | Ovsyannikov | 72 | 68 | 74 | 74 | 68 |
There is several other options as to who can score some points tomorrow, but all in all the riders above would have to be considered to have lower odds then the rest of the field.
And of course, the full startlist.

Let's go Crabpack! Also sad to see Strava with such a poor cobbles team this year
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks for the preview, the only question I really had was whether I actually sent a team. Perhaps some time in the break would be fun. Otherwise we are here to see Crabbe vs the field.

We hope yet again that Ovysa can show his prowess and get us a strong result. Ideally we need it to go down to a reduced sprint and he should have a chance!

Can anybody beat the CCers ? I don't know but I know it won't be Glanbia.
Corwin and Teggart are here targeting a top 25, and that's on a good day

Thanks for the preview. Nielsen hopefully with a chance for a Top 10, maybe Sbaragli also to score some points.

If the pattern continues it's a CT year for us, GVK winning here would be tradition, however with the way that the cobbles teams have leveled up in the off season I think that a top 5 here would be fantastic as well.

Great report, thanks. Too bad about the export issue. Nielsen and Sbaragli with a great performance, showing it to ollfardh that we are not completeley out of it. Crabpack is awesome to watch. Gratz to the winner

Lovely race by Declerq, I'm really happy to see him get top results instead of fighting for scraps. A great turn at the front to set up the decisive move, while still making it home in fourth.
I second the sentiment, Crabbe is really fun to watch, and the race delivered tactics-wise. Congrats to Trans on the win though!

I did not expect Tsatevich to lose the uphill sprint, but wow, good racing!

Maybe history isn't circular Top 3 here is deffo acceptable not much to do against this strong of a field in CT for cobbles, hopefully it means that GVK will be a linient boy come renewals! Thanks for the report!

Great report and great racing!
Ovsya fairly quiet throughout but coming through for a strong result is great to see from the young man on a 50k wage! He’s been great so far this season.

Congrats to Trans on the win and to Crabbe and HelloFresh for riding like favorites.
Not sure Rathe's attack was wise but 24th was about as good as could be expected.
Thanks for the report.

You had trouble uploading the race file because the race actually ended with the first crossing of the finishing line and with the victory of Rojas. I enjoyed that moment of glory quite a lot! Thank you for that, Nemolito!
On a more serious note, Rojas did an awesome race, He proved one of the in-form riders of the breakaway and managed to stay up front for the 19th place. Even more, another youngster, Matteo Jorgenson went better and finished 15th. These 2 young riders made the team proud bringing in unexpected points. It seems they managed to dent the armor of our season nemesis, the cobbles.
Congratulations, Trans, for the win and thank you, Nemo, for the awesome report! |

Congrats to Trans on the win, and Crabbe with that crazy amount of riders finishing in the top 10.
It came down to a solo win in the end, as allways.
Great report

Great race and report!
It might not seem like much but Teggart sneaking 25th place is probably Glanbia's first point on the cobbles is I'm off to buy him a Belgian beer
Congrats to the winners and the other big point winners.
