The 5th edition of the Betonexpressz GP. As one of sprinting classics of the CT division, this is a longer race than usual CT races. With 211 km the riders stamina will be tested, as well as their top speed. The race starts with some flat kilometres as a warm up, then features a short hilly circuit that has to be negotiated 4 times. After that we have a longer circuit of gently undulating roads with a small hill thrown in for good measure. The finish line comes after descending the aforementioned hill for the 5th time and some false flat rise in the last few kilometres. Luke Keough is the only former winner on the startlist having won the race last with Azteca - NBCSN. Can he do it again?
Let's look at some of the favourites:
| FLA | HIL | STA | RES | SPR | ACC | Kragh Andersen | 77 | 64 | 70 | 74 | 81 | 77 | Coutinho | 72 | 65 | 75 | 74 | 79 | 80 |
We can distinguish two rider that appear to somewhat stand out above the rest of the field. First we have Kragh Andersen who is the fastest sprinter that the CT division has on offer. He's great on the flat and while not so great going uphill, he's not at a massive disadvantage there compared to the other sprinters. His stamina is good, but not great. His main weakness is his acceleration, so just like anyone else he'll have to be positioned well and time his sprint. Coutinho doesn't carry the same speed, but can accelerate better. He should have no problems with the length of the race and is decent on the uphill section.
| FLA | HIL | STA | RES | SPR | ACC | Wippert | 70 | 67 | 75 | 70 | 78 | 82 | Krieger | 71 | 62 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | Bouhanni | 74 | 63 | 74 | 69 | 80 | 77 | Te Brake | 75 | 64 | 74 | 72 | 79 | 76 |
On the 2nd tier we have 4 sprinters with different strengths and weaknesses, but all capable of challenging for the top spot. Wippert has top notch acceleration, very good stamina and has the ability to get over hills. His top speed leave a little to be desired, though. Krieger is the most rounded of these four, but might struggle a bit on the uphill sections. Bouhanni has great top speed and stamina, but lacks a bit of punch. Te Brake should be one of the safest bets to make it to the finish at the front, but can he sprint past the competition?
| FLA | HIL | STA | RES | SPR | ACC | Keough | 73 | 62 | 67 | 73 | 79 | 79 | Bennett | 71 | 64 | 74 | 68 | 79 | 79 | Salleh | 70 | 59 | 73 | 65 | 80 | 80 | Van der Sanden | 73 | 65 | 71 | 69 | 78 | 79 | Lavoine | 73 | 60 | 71 | 64 | 80 | 78 | Scully | 74 | 67 | 66 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Pelucchi | 74 | 68 | 74 | 70 | 79 | 77 |
Returning champion Keough is the first rider on the 3rd tier of favourites. He's good some good speed on him, but lacks the ability uphill and might struggle due to his lower stamina. But hey that didn't stop him last year, did it?! Bennett is very similar, less resistant better stamina. Salleh possesses probably the best mix of speed and acceleration, but he has problems climbing and does not have good resistance. Will he make it to the final stretch?
Next we have the well rounded Van der Sanden, followed by Lavoine who might have the same issues as Salleh. Scully has the potential to do very well if the length of the race doesn't become an issue for him. Lastly we have Pelucchi who does well on the flat and going uphill and is generally a strong rider. Can he outsprint the others?
| FLA | HIL | STA | RES | ACC | Katrasnik | 81 | 63 | 72 | 76 | 72 | Mundle | 79 | 65 | 69 | 73 | 69 | Ignatiev | 76 | 71 | 75 | 68 | 76 | Delgerbayar | 76 | 64 | 75 | 73 | 69 | Kangangi | 76 | 73 | 75 | 73 | 65 |
Katrasnik is by far the strongest here and has already proven himself with a victory at the Great Ocean Road Classic this year. Mundle is the clear 2nd best here and has also shown himself in the past, although not always to his manager's approval. Ignatiev is a bit of an MG legend and is well known for pulling off some late attacks with his great acceleration. Delgerbayar is another strongman on the flats if he gets the chance, while Kangangi gives Gjensidige another option in the race.

Excited for this one! I'm keen to see how Wippert will do with the whole team completely focused on him, especially since he is one of the favourites.
Good luck everyone!

Seboka will surprise everyone ... by being the only rider to finish outside the time limit I suppose.
Let's hope Guillén somehow manages to survive and get in the top-10. But as he isn't even mentioned within the 18 favourites and he isn't really the "long race with elevation" kind of guy I guess my expectations can't be too high.
Thank you for the preview!

Hoping that this turns out better than Great Ocean, which isn't a very hard marker Van der Sanden has had a bit of a break, so lets see if it helps him improve his scoring. Hoping to get into the Top 10 of this one. Van Lerberghe and Paprstka are decent candidates for a late attack as well.
Thanks for the preview redordead

I'm not really worried about Scully's stamina, as Guillén was no better last year (even much worse on the hills) and still finished 2nd. Let's hope Mundle doesn't jeopardize the sprint preps this time - and first of all let's hope Scully actually bothers participating!
Thanks for the preview, and good luck in the lottery to everyone

I hope someone from my team will be in Top 5 as this is one of our four season goals.
Nice preview redordead.
Good luck to everyone

Thanks for the preview! I hope that the hills will somehow have an actual effect, in which case Naesen and/or Redecker could have a shot in the finale. Otherwise, it's going to be tough against this field. No expectations, but I'd like to be positively surprised

I have absolutely no faith in AKA or my team, let alone the fact that this is bumpy and will likely involve some mountain stat. Out of all the sprinter's races, this one probably suits him the least on paper anyway.
If he and/or Bertilsson could actually sprint near the front and score points (top 5?), I'd be satisfied. Well, not satisfied, but we will have exceeded my expectations at least.

Hopes for a podium here from Krieger, with maybe a shot at the win. So long as the bumps don't hurt too hard that is. |

Well, those C2HC sprint races are really weird this year. Two races, two non-sprinter wins. Congrats to Bralirwa, you're really having the luck on your side lately it seems!
For us, Mundle's racing was just as stupid at it was in Australia. Instead of attacking and getting dropped, he should definitely have chased down these attackers. Well, it seems that it just doesn't work out with him and Scully in the same race - bad news for quite some races yet to come...
Scully himself didn't do well, either. It would have been a low Top 10 without the attackers ahead - which would have been OK-ish, but not really good. Well, let's move on.
Thanks for the report, must have been another weird race to follow

Wooohooo! In the most important part of the season, we are back on the top!
Our first goal top10 which could be even a top 5 or win is finally after the weeks of bad luck finished with incredible teamwork with two in the top 10 and Ingrantiev in 2nd place!
Thank you redordead
Now I need to calm down and breath

Damn, Naesen on fire again, Bralirwa ready to promote!
Katrasnik seemed to really have destroyed the Guave train, which was the perfect set-up for Quispe to attack. He is a flat beast, but after a race of 200 km+ I can´t expect our Peruvian champion to simply win. Happy with a fourth place, as scoring that amount of points in races like these are exactly what we need for a top-10 finish at the end of the season!
Thank you for the great report, redordead

Thanks, great report. We were active and two riders in the upper echelon. Roux not up to the task, GVA might have managd to score better. Gratz to the win, cunego - once again Naesen delivers, certainly a great rider worthy to pay some nice cash to.

Yessssss!! Just the perfect race by Naesen, exactly how I imagined the absolute best-case szenario. He really seems to have a nose for these types of finishes and his speed is then usually unmatched, as it was here. Second big win of the year for him after GW, and as Shonak says, he's justifying his considerable price tag, super happy about that!
Thanks for the congratulations everyone The season is going much better than expected, even with duds like what Selig is doing in the Baltic Chain Tour right now. Promotion is still not on my radar though, Nemolito, if I can join you in the Top 10 at the end of the season I'll be more than content
Very happy for TinxiaS as well, glad to see you so excited And thanks for another great report redordead!
