RTG '20 | Teams, Riders and Races
AbhishekLFC
This thread will be used to discuss everything going on in and around the peloton in the 2020 season of Road To Glory. I will start off by posting team details. Feel free to start discussing about the make-up of the teams, their focus and which ones catch your fancy.

Once the rider creation process is complete for the season, I will put up rider details in this thread too. You can also use this thread to post about and from the perspective of your riders. Let everyone know how his recent race went, what he's thinking and what his dreams are. Also feel free to spark some rivalries in the peloton. But always remember, keep it clean!

When the racing starts, use this thread to discuss about the races that are taking place in the cycling world.

Think Hagens Berman focus is wrong.

It should read "Anyone who can actually win something". If you had to list a third leader it would be McRettin.

Maximiliaan Vansibraert claims new motivations for upcoming season.

As heralded by the official RTG website, big surprise for the young pro rider Max Vansibraert, who stated on his social profile he is energized for the deal in a new team, moving to Mitchelton - Scott, an Australian team, very far from his loved Belgium.
"I'm happy to reveal that my future is written, at least for next year.
I signed for Mitchelton - Scott, the team who was able to give me the best motivation for continuing my professional career.
I have to be honest and thank the team Jumo Visma who gave me the possibility to realize this fantastic dream, I wouldn't be here if not for their call two years ago. However thay are a super strong team, and I don't feel to be ready for competing at same level that I'm expecting by a top team like them. Mitchelton - Scott is a team that as well can be placed between the top of the world, but their Grand Tour orientation give me much more possibility to express my skills on other races. My choice was outlined mainly for my future as rider, and I think this can be the best one to take.
With new calendar unvelied, with several new races and new opportunities for U25 riders, I can't wait for the new winter training camp, with my new teammates!"

Ulrich Ulriksen
McRettin thrilled with new calendar

McRettin posted that:

"The organizers have shown they really value the purest of cycling disciplines. Both the chrono tour and the TT stage in Western Europe will give me a chance to display the pure beauty of the race against the clock. Looking forward to another year with my teammates at HBA."

First impression about new calendar

Max's free talking: "I sat down with my new sports director, discussing 2020 calendar and races I'll take part, and I figured out that many races where I was used to partecipate in past seasons are clashing with the new U25 calendar, this adds more pitfalls in the year's planning. I need to deepen carefully the new calendar, to detect what's the best for me and my team, but I can say that unlikely my GT debut will be in the upcoming season: May is perfect for a training camp in preparetion of goals in second half of the season, and both Tour and Vuelta are clashing with races I already focused on."

Ulrich Ulriksen
McRettin discusses his 2020 Calendar

This year I am going to focus on my development. Getting out on my own and just doing the hard work. But I will ride much of the U25 calendar with a particular focus on Western Europe and obviously the Chrono tour. In the World Tour just a couple of races this year, the highlight will be Tirreno, I enjoyed that race last year and have a chance to really help the team in the TTT.

Alunderis 2020 Season Preview

i.imgur.com/aQBUsln.png

Virginijus once again worked hard on his climbing, with MON 77 he's reached an acceptable level in his primary skill, his energy stats look ok, but the rest of his abilities are still rather weak.

We decided not to spend any more race days on training. He's last in the table at the half-way mark, training won't be enough to move up. Instead he'll have to hope to score from his 60 days of racing. His best chance comes early in the season with the Oro y Paz which is now only open to U25 riders. Alunderis booked half of the 10 new U25 races, he's also lining up for the Tour Down Under, the Tour of Western Europe, as well as the Clasicas Aldeias and San Sebastian.

Having already raced the Tour and Vuelta, he'll be lining up for the Giro in 2020. He'll also be touring the Basque Country and the Dauphine, the latter for the third time running. His final race is Il Lombardia. So his schedule is pretty packed until mid-June, after that only a couple of one-day races remain.

January: Tour Down Under, Colombia Oro y Paz
February: Tour of Western Europe
April: Itzulia Basque Country
May: Giro d'Italia
June: Crierium Dauphine, Clasica Aldeias do Xisto
August: Clasica San Sebastian
October: Il Lombardia

Happy New Year! I'm excited to see how the first U25 race turns out. No personal ambitions for Alunderis, this is just the preparation for Oro y Paz. With Hodeg we have the favourite for the sprints, he has next to no lead-out, but the same is true for the other sprinters as well.
