This isn't going to be a full blown story but rather a career report in the vein of valverde's Quickstep story and others like it. Results from World Tour races and those continental races in which we achieve anything, but I'm not sure how many of those I'll actually play. There's going to be screenshots, some races with a few more, some races without any, probably depending on our success. We'll see how this goes. Hope you'll enjoy!

Team Presentation 2020
i.imgur.com/2WeshtV.jpg
Cofidis enters its first World Tour season in 10 years with modest ambitions. The team fields one of the weaker rosters of the division but is nonetheless determined to make some noise, especially on home soil. For the necessary points to remain in the top tier, they're probably going to rely on the smaller World Tour races as well as consistency in the Top 5 to Top 10 range.

Hope its okay for me to post!

Good luck. Cofidis finally have a jersey I like again, after a few years with a bad/plain one imo. This years looks rather retro, and the team is finally back in the WT. They have a very interesting roster. Viviani should be strong, but at the same time top sprinters at Quickstep who have gone on to new teams have not found the same level of success elsewhere. Martin could be a real outsider for the Tour and Allegaert could turn into a decent classics rider depending on his limits.

Croatia14
I'm not the biggest fan of Cofidis, but I do like to see you coming back with a story! Can't wait to see how the career turns out for you Smile

cunego59
@valverde321: I think it's a very interesting roster, too. No real superstar, but a lot of riders who might achieve something on a good day. I hope Allegaert develops well, northern classics are our biggest weakness. And I hope Viviani lives up to his status.

@Croatia14: Cofidis might not be the most exciting team, but the idea of delivering France with their first Tour winner in decades, and on a French team, too, was always appealing to me. And I never played with Cofidis before. Maybe you'll grow to like them Wink

First races later today!

Well, this was quite something. Haas' performance was at the upper end of what I had expected - what I didn't expect were two stage wins by Simone Connsoni! The second one came as a surprise after the photo from the finish line was examined - at first and even second glance, it looked like Nizzolo had it. Oh well, never look a gift horse in the mouth, I guess. Peaking early and setting this as an explicit goal paid off.

Quiet Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. It was more selective than I had hoped, so Consonni had no chance, but Rossetto scored a few valuable points there.

Not a bad start. Consonni did well, proving he will probably be a good leadout for Viviani later, and Haas being top Australian is also good.

I like Cofidis and Viviani! Good luck with this story.

@valverde321: I'm going all in on Viviani for the Giro with Sabatini and Consonni there, so it's good to see he'll be up for it already!

@purepasd: Glad to hear it, thank you!

@VoetsT: Thank you! TDU was really good indeed.

Oh yeah, another cunego story! Cofidis is such an interesting team at the moment and I think it's a great choice. An absolutely awesome TDU, what a return to the WT!

After two desastrous opening stages for Viviani, we turned it around. Martin exceeded expectations by beating someone like Carapaz, and then the sprint train finally got on the same page, leading Viviani to win three of the final four stages - the first two against Nizzolo, who has to have nightmares of riders in white and red jumping past him at the last second by now.

Piet Allegeart had a career day and the result could have been even better. Until about two kilometres to go, he was in a group of five at the front of the race until the group with Sagan behind them caught them in the sprint. Still, a very strong result. Dimitri Claeys also finished 11th.

A couple of nice results on French terrain, always good for the image in our home country. Both sprinters proving they're in-form, although the competition wasn't all that tough.

Good Luck mate, hopefully a successful season lies ahead Smile

(Viviani already looking good)

valverde321
Well, Viviani looks good, you cant expect him to win them all! Martin really overperforming at UAE too! Great job.

Allegaert at OHN is another strong result. Its unfortunate when that happens in PCM and the group behind sprinting eliminate a 20 second gap and beat you to the line.

LLDS
Good luck, I can't wait to see what Martin will do in Tour de France.

@sutty68: Thanks for stopping by Smile I hope so too!

@valverde321: I'm very happy with the results as well. I really failed to get the timing right in the first two sprint stages, but once I did, Viviani did very well.

@LLDS: I'm still not sure myself what his role will be. I think he could attack the Top 10, but I also like the idea of going for the polkadots and a stage win or two. We'll see!

I don't really know what to say. Had it not been for the opening time trial, this would have been a relatively comfortable win for Guillaume Martin, but three stage wins plus one from Laporte is a pretty big deal. Way, way more than expected, that's for sure.

Editor's Note
These results are obviously a little silly and not very realistic. Daily form just makes your riders overpowered and a good daily form is easy to get. So I'll make the jump to extreme a little earlier than I anticipated. But I almost feel bad for winning, and that's not the point. Extreme starts after Milano - San Remo. So bear with these results for one more post and then it hopefully gets a little tougher.
.

cunego59
Oh, quick question by the way: I'm not showing any race profiles because I want to keep editing to a minimum. I think for most stages, the result is a good indicator, or I write something in the end comment. But for some, it may not be very clear. Is that a big thing for you as readers? Or is it fine without the profiles?

purepasd
For me it's fine without the profiles, but if it's not a big task for you it would clarify of course. Extreme (Or above) sounds good after seeing your results in P-N Wink

cunego59
@purepasd: Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I find a solution to signify what kind of stage it is without having to screenshot and cut every profile.

One of the weirder Tirreno - Adriatico editions I can remember. It had three hilly stages with descents towards the finish line, none of them hard enough to weed out the sprinters. It was us against Pascal Ackermann pretty much all the way, to the point that Viviani and him went into the last stage completely tied. And Elia pulled off his fourth stage win to take it all. Who'd have thought this race could be won be a sprinter?
Again, this is the last post on hard - I didn't choose Cofidis to be dominating in my first season Wink Although to be fair, Viviani is among the top sprinters in the game with Sabatini as a solid lead-out.

The final hill was just a little too much for our two sprinters, but this is still a fantastic result. Pascal Ackermann is having himself quite a few weeks as well, although he does come just a little short again as Mathieu Van der Poel takes his first monument - I wouldn't be shocked if it's the first of many.
